Panthers | Carolina expects to lean on Diontae Johnson    Tue Apr 23, 01:44 PM

Carolina Panthers WR Diontae Johnson informed reporters on Tuesday, April 23, that head coach Dave Canales told him shortly after his trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers that he would play 'X' (split end) and be the first read on the majority of passing plays in 2024.

Footballguys view: Yahoo's Matt Harmon, also the creator of the Reception Perception method for assessing the receiver position, reminds us that Carolina's wideouts could not get open last season. Harmon also notes that is Johnson's specialty. Johnson, who finished last year as WR45, currently resides at WR41 on the Footballguys 2024 Draft Rankings. He is going in that same spot in best-ball drafts at Underdog and BestBall 10s.

Chiefs | KC keeping the faith in Kadarius Toney    Tue Apr 23, 12:21 PM

Kansas City Chiefs WR Kadarius Toney is 'probably our most talented wideout now,' according to general manager Brett Veach.'He is probably our most talented wideout now. It doesn't do anyone any good unless you stay healthy. But the kid has always worked hard here for us and I know he's been down there with (Patrick Mahomes) and I think it's a matter of him staying healthy and I think if he can do that, he can really do a lot of great things in this offense. People around the building like him and it's the injury bug and hopefully he gets some luck on his side and he can stay healthy and be the player that he was in Florida and the player that we've seen in spurts here,' Veach said.

Footballguys view: Fantasy managers who took a chance on Toney as their WR5 or 6 last season came up short. Will they invest again this year? It's unlikely. Those who haven't already been burned might do worse with their final picks in best-ball drafts, but in terms of redraft, it's hard to see Toney as draftworthy.

Bengals | Jake Browning signs two-year extension    Tue Apr 23, 10:46 AM

Cincinnati Bengals exclusive-rights free-agent QB Jake Browning signed a two-year extension Tuesday, April 23. Financial terms weren't disclosed.

Footballguys view: Browning had never played an NFL game before last season and spent the majority of his career on the practice squad. He was a revelation replacing an injured Joe Burrow, throwing for 1,936 yards, 12 touchdowns, and seven interceptions while completing 70.4 percent of his passes. Browning also rushed for 127 yards and another three touchdowns.

Chiefs | New deals for Brett Veach, Andy Reid    Mon Apr 22, 08:14 PM

Kansas City Chiefs general manager Brett Veach and head coach Andy Reid signed contract extensions with the Chiefs Monday, April 22. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: One of the league's great offensive minds, Reid is now tied to the team -- and Patrick Mahomes -- through 2029, when the coach will be 71.

Steelers | No decision on Najee Harris' option    Mon Apr 22, 06:38 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Najee Harris' fifth-year option will be decided on after the 2024 NFL Draft, according to general manager Omar Khan.

Footballguys view: From a fantasy perspective, sharing the workload with Jaylen Warren isn't ideal, but it hasn't kept Harris from producing. In 2023, Harris had the best season of his career in terms of yards per carry as he rushed 255 times for 1,035 yards -- a 4.1 yards per carry average -- and he scored eight touchdowns. He remains a solid fantasy RB2.

49ers | San Francisco wants Brandon Aiyuk long-term    Mon Apr 22, 03:12 PM

San Francisco 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk is seeking a new contract, and general manager John Lynch told reporters Monday, April 22, they want him with the team for the long-term.

Footballguys view: Aiyuk, who is currently set to make $14.1 million this seaso, is coming off a strong season where he recorded 75 receptions for 1,342 yards and seven touchdownss while serving as an invaluable cog in the 49ers' explosive offense. Assuming he remains with the team, Aiyuk should be viewed as a fantasy WR2.

Jets | Zach Wilson traded to Denver    Mon Apr 22, 02:32 PM

New York Jets QB Zach Wilson was traded to the Denver Broncos for a 2024 sixth-round pick in the NFL draft, according to sources Monday, April 22. The Jets also are sending a 2024 seventh-round pick along with Wilson and are expected to pay some of his $5.5 million salary.

Footballguys view: Wilson now finds himself on a team seeking options under center following their split with Russell Wilson. As NFL.com notes, because of that divorce, Denver doesn't have the budget to spend on a confirmed starter at quarterback, leading the Broncos to take a flier on adding Zach Wilson to a quarterbacks room that includes Jarrett Stidham and Ben DiNucci. They'll likely add another in this week's NFL Draft.

Colts | Colts open to trade in first round    Sun Apr 21, 04:03 PM

Indianapolis Colts general manager Chris Ballard is open to trading up or down in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, but the latter scenario is more likely, he said on Friday, April 19.

Footballguys view: Like many teams, the Colts could move up, move down, or stay put with their pick in the first round. Right now, we've got them looking for a cornerback with the no.15 overall pick. Quinyon Mitchell (Toledo) is one of the most commonly mocked players to the Colts.

NFL | Two visits for Devontez Walker    Sun Apr 21, 03:54 PM

North Carolina WR Devontez Walker had visits with the Kansas City Chiefs and Las Vegas Raiders ahead of the 2024 NFL draft, according to sources Sunday, April 21.

Footballguys view: Walker has talent, but he was a bit disappointing during the week of practice for the Senior Bowl. Scouts see him as a mid-round pick with upside. Walker has a great size/speed combination, but he needs to refine his route-running ability to maximize his potential in the pros.

Jets | Jets prefer Big 3 WRs over Brock Bowers?    Sun Apr 21, 03:35 PM

The New York Jets may prefer WRs Marvin Harrison Jr., Malik Nabers and Rome Odunze if they fall over TE Brock Bowers, according to ESPN's Richi Cimini on Sunday, April 21. 'Here's what we're hearing: The Jets could pick a wide receiver in the unlikely event that one of the top three falls to 10. They're also interested in offensive tackles, with Notre Dame's Joe Alt, Oregon State's Taliese Fuaga and Washington's Troy Fautanu thought to be their top preferences. Alt probably will be off the board, so the choice could come down to Bowers versus their OT2,' said Cimini.

Footballguys view: Bowers to the Jets is commonly mocked, but it may not happen. They could move up in the draft for one of the big-3 at the wide receiver position. With the no.10 overall pick, guys like Marvin Harrison Jr (Ohio State), Malik Nabors (LSU), and Rome Odunze (Washington) could be off the board.

Texans | Dare Ogunbowale re-signed    Sun Apr 21, 11:51 AM

The Houston Texans re-signed free-agent RB Dare Ogunbowale to a one-year contract Sunday, April 21, according to a source. Financial terms of the deal were not released.

Footballguys view: Ogunbowale is a solid veteran who can give the Texans backfield depth and special teams help. Joe Mixon is the top back on the depth chart, and Dameon Pierce will serve as his primary backup. Ogunbowale is compete for a spot on the depth chart behind those two.

Broncos | Denver not trading Courtland Sutton    Sun Apr 21, 11:10 AM

The Denver Broncos have been contacted by several NFL teams regarding the availability of WR Courtland Sutton, according to multiple sources. However, they have no plans to trade him, even though he has been skipping voluntary workouts because of his contract situation.

Footballguys view: Well, they say they're not trading Sutton. That's what they have to say, but if Sutton wants a new contract then perhaps he's signaling that he doesn't want to be in Denver any longer. We could see a Sutton trade on draft night.

Patriots | Pats 'prepared' to take QB    Sun Apr 21, 04:35 AM

The New England Patriots 'are prepared' to take a quarterback at No. 3 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft and are 'high' on both LSU QB Jayden Daniels and North Carolina QB Drake Maye, per source on Saturday, April 20.

Footballguys view: The Patriots are in a unique position. They need a franchise quarterback, but they have a couple of teams (Vikings, Broncos) who could be hot and heavy for that no3 overall pick. They could move back in the first round, collect a haul for the top-3 pick, and set themselves up for the future. With the draft getting closer, the Patriots are certainly putting out the message they will be taking a quarterback.

NFL | Jayden Daniels eyeing Raiders, Vikings    Sun Apr 21, 02:31 AM

Updating a previous report, LSU QB Jayden Daniels has 'real' interest in the Las Vegas Raiders and is 'intrigued' by the Minnesota Vikings, per sources on Saturday, April 20.

Footballguys view: Daniels may not want to play for the Commanders, even though their GM Adam Peters may love his skill set. If Daniels forces a trade, the Vikings or Raiders could move up to no.2 overall - for a huge price. We'll see if the Commanders take Daniels and then trade him, or if they start looking elsewhere.

Giants | Spencer Rattler to meet with NYG    Wed Apr 17, 10:43 AM

South Carolina QB Spencer Rattler is expected to meet with the New York Giants this week.

Footballguys view: Rattler is an interesting mid-round pick, and some think he could sneak his way into the second round. The Giants are looking for a quarterback, but they may not select one in the first round. If they wait, Rattler could be an option for them. He's going to take time to be ready (if he ever develops), but Rattler can command a huddle and make all the throws. He does get careless with the football, and none of his physical traits are overwhelming.

Giants | Bo Nix to visit Giants    Wed Apr 17, 10:41 AM

Oregon QB Bo Nix will meet with the New York Giants this week.

Footballguys view: If the Giants move back from no.6 overall, then Nix becomes an option for them in the first round. Some think Nix even falls to the second round. Nix threw a bunch of micro-passes in college (at or behind the line of scrimmage), but he is aggressive when under pressure (8.9 YPA under duress). He's not a fit for every team, but Nix is super smart and accurate. That's a good start for a guy with a high floor but perhaps a low ceiling.

Falcons | Bill Belichick didn't seek total control    Wed Apr 17, 09:46 AM

Former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick didn't demand total control of the roster in his pursuit of the Atlanta Falcons head coaching position.

Footballguys view: It seemed early on that Belichick to the Falcons was going to happen. Belichick met twice with Falcons' owner Arthur Blank, and then...nothing. Atlanta went with Raheem Morris, and Belichick is not in the league this year. He'll be in the conversation next offseason, and if he doesn't want total control then perhaps some team will bring him on board to be their head coach.

Cowboys | Royce Freeman joins Cowboys    Tue Apr 16, 08:08 PM

Free-agent RB Royce Freeman (Rams) signed a one-year contract with the Dallas Cowboys Tuesday, April 16, according to a source. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Freeman, 28, had 319 yards and two touchdowns on 77 carries last season for the Rams. He has played for four teams in the past four seasons, with stints in Denver, Carolina, Houston and Los Angeles since the Broncos made him a third-round pick in 2018. Dallas still is expected to select a running back in next week's draft after losing Tony Pollard. Freeman is the most experienced back on the team's roster, with Rico Dowdle, Deuce Vaughn, Malik Davis and Snoop Conner the other halfbacks on the depth chart.

Lions | Contract talks start with Jared Goff    Tue Apr 16, 06:32 PM

Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff said he has started contract extension talks with the Lions but would not say how advanced the talks are at this time.

Footballguys view: The Lions invested a third-round pick last year in quarterback Hendon Hooker. It's not clear if they view Hooker as a replacement for Goff or if the youngster is more of a fallback plan should they fail to get a new deal done with the veteran. However it plays out, as Profootblltalk.com suggests, the Lions have found a quarterback who has taken them to the brink of the Super Bowl. He's still only 29. They surely want to keep him. Fantasy managers, who can land Goff at high-end QB2 prices, will have a viable play with a strong supporting cast in a high-powered offense -- one capable of delivering QB1 numbers on any given Sunday.

Dolphins | No deal close with Odell Beckham    Tue Apr 16, 06:07 PM

Free-agent WR Odell Beckham Jr. (Ravens) has exchanged contract offers with the Miami Dolphins, but Dolphins general manager Chris Grier said the two sides are not close to an agreement at this point.

Footballguys view: Last year, Beckham made $16 million with the Ravens. While his presence might have helped the Ravens nail down a long-term deal with quarterback Lamar Jackson, Beckham's performance (35 catches, 565 yards, three touchdowns) didn't justify the investment. At this point, it seems likely Beckham will benefit from waiting until after the draft to see if teams that hope to upgrade their receiver room don't get the kind of players they want.

49ers | Brock Purdy open to running more    Tue Apr 16, 05:59 PM

San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy said he would be open for the team to add more designed runs for him as well as some zone read plays in the playbook.

Footballguys view: Purdy set a franchise record with 4,280 passing yards last season. He rushed for only 144 yards with two touchdowns on 39 carries. But Purdy, who ran for only 13 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries as a rookie, rushed for 48 yards on five carries in the comeback victory over the Lions in the NFC Championship Game. It was the second most of his career behind 57 yards on six carries against the Bengals during the 2023 regular season. Even though Purdy seems plenty capable, Kyle Shanahan will always be more interested in the passing numbers. So, fantasy managers hoping Purdy gains significant value as a runner are probably going to be disappointed in that aspect.

49ers | Trent Taylor back for another stint with San Francisco    Tue Apr 16, 05:08 PM

Updating a previous report, free-agent WR Trent Taylor (Bears) signed a one-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers - the team that he spent the first four seasons of his career with from 2017 to 2020 - on Tuesday, April 16. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.

Footballguys view: Taylor, 29, was a part of head coach Kyle Shanahan and GM John Lynch's first draft class as a fifth-round pick in 2017. He appeared in 41 games for San Francisco from 2017-2020, recording 79 catches for 731 yards with three touchdowns in his first stint with the club. Taylor has been effective as a punt returner, most recently serving in that role for Chicago last season. He averaged 8.2 yards per return on 23 attempts in 17 games. In 78 career games with the 49ers, Bengals, and Bears, Taylor has averaged 9.4 yards per punt return. He's also returned eight kicks, averaging 13.3 yards per attempt. His fantasy value will continue to be limited until/unless he gains a front-line role.

Jaguars | Trevor Lawrence finally feeling right    Tue Apr 16, 04:32 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence (shoulder) told reporters on Tuesday, April 16, that he did not feel fully healthy until March. Lawrence battled several injuries during the 2023 season.

Footballguys view: Through three seasons, Lawrence has missed just one of a potential 51 starts. His lone missed game came last year, when he dealt with multiple ailments throughout a trying 9-8 season in which the Jags failed to defend their AFC South crown, fell short of the playoffs, and collapsed to the tune of losing five of their last six games. Lawrence was a disappointment from a fantasy perspective. He threw for 4,016 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions in 2023, setting himself up for a possible rebound season. Lawrence finished as QB6 in 2022; it's not a stretch to believe he'll improve on last year's QB12 finish.

Browns | Nick Chubb continuing to grind in his rehab    Tue Apr 16, 03:49 PM

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb (knee) is 'attacking his rehab every day,' according to head coach Kevin Stefanski, who was unwilling to commit to a timetable for a return for his star running back.

Footballguys view: "I don't know that we'll go past today and this week -- at least that's the way I'm looking at it," Stefanski said in his press conference. "I can promise you, he's working very hard. Early in the morning, he's here, he's attacking his rehab. That's the best way I can put it. When he's ready, he'll be ready." When asked if Chubb has progressed to running, Stefanski declined to say. Chubb, 28, agreed to a revised contract with Cleveland last week. In 77 career games, Chubb has recorded 6,511 yards rushing with 48 touchdowns -- averaging 5.3 yards per carry. Fantasy managers shouldn't get carried away here, but Chubb is generally still available in the double-digit rounds in best ball drafts. There comes a point where the risk is worth the potential late-season reward.

Browns | Deshaun Watson happy with recovery    Tue Apr 16, 03:37 PM

Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson (shoulder) told reporters he is 'throwing full speed' and intends to participate at some level during organized team activities, according to a source.

Footballguys view: The Browns are implementing a revamped offensive scheme with new coordinator Ken Dorsey, but head coach Kevin Stefnski noted that's not going to affect how they approach Watson's rehab. We'll continue to watch for more, but all of us -- the Browns and fantasy managers -- need Watson to be on point. In six games last season, he completed 61 percent of his passes for 1,115 yards with seven touchdowns and four interceptions. He also rushed for 142 yards with a TD.

Chiefs | KC continues to endorse Kadarius Toney    Tue Apr 16, 02:39 PM

Kansas City Chiefs WR Kadarius Toney has been among a group of players working out in Texas with Patrick Mahomes recently and is still someone the team is hoping to see fulfill his potential, according to comments made by head coach Andy Reid on Monday, April 15.'Kadarius is arguably one of the most talented guys we have on the team. It's just a matter of being healthy and being able to stay on the field and you always hear about the reliability, accountability, all those things that go into it. And so I'm expecting him to come back ripping and ready to go. It's great that he's down there working with Pat and putting the work in. So that's a position. Listen, we like Kadarius. It's just a matter of having him on the field,' Reid said.

Footballguys view: Fantasy managers have been down this road enough to keep expectations in check. Dial back expectations, but Toney is currently WR122 on Underdog. He's a free square avaialable in the last round of drafts for those so inclined.

Dolphins | Miami likely to pick up two key fifth-year options    Tue Apr 16, 01:46 PM

Miami Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle and DE Jaelan Phillips are expected to have their fifth-year options exercised by the team before the deadline next month, according to general manager Chris Grier.

Footballguys view: The contracts will be fully guaranteed, with Waddle set to make $15.6 million and Phillips'sPhillips' salary set at $13.3 million. Waddle had 72 catches for 1,014 yards and four touchdowns last season, and he's posted 251 catches for 3,385 yards and 18 touchdowns in his career. His former Alabama teammate and fellow 2021 first-rounder Devonta Smith agreed on Monday to a three-year, $75 million extension that will kick in after his fifth-year option plays out, so, as Profootballtalk.com suggests, Smith's deal could factor into Waddle's own bid for a long-term deal. For fantasy managers, having him locked into his role in Miami's high-powered offense is a win.

Texans | Tank Dell still on track for normal offseason    Tue Apr 16, 01:01 PM

Houston Texans WR Tank Dell (leg) looks 'great' and should be able to participate fully in training camp this summer, according to QB C.J. Stroud, who organized a throwing session with Dell and a few other teammates in Los Angeles recently. There even appears to be a strong possibility he will be ready for the start of offseason activities on May 20.

Footballguys view: In 11 games, Dell caught 47 passes for 709 yards and seven touchdowns. He set the franchise rookie record for touchdown catches and yards in a single game with a 145-yard performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 3. He later broke his record with a 149-yard outing against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 11. Over his final four full games, Dell totaled 25 receptions for 369 yards and five touchdowns. He was on pace to catch Andre Johnson's rookie record receiving yardage (976) entering December. Based on that pace, Dell was on track to finish with over 1,200 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns, which would have been second-most among rookies behind Los Angeles Rams' Puka Nacua. With Stefon Diggs on board, and with both Nico Collins and Diggs going off before him in ongoing best balls, Dell appears to be the value pick here. The question will be whether he can pull in the desired target share with the extra mouth to feed, but the same can be said for Diggs and Collins.

Broncos | Courtland Sutton doesn't report    Tue Apr 16, 09:26 AM

Denver Broncos WR Courtland Sutton didn't report to voluntary workouts Monday, April 15, as he seeks a new contract. His deal only guarantees $2 million.

Footballguys view: A Pelissero noted, Sutton is going on his 10th starting QB in seven seasons. He had 10 TDs in 2023 while ranking 56th in targets last year. Sutton is currently available as WR50 on Underdog. If this news depresses his price further, don't be afraid to add him in double-digit rounds.

Washington QB Michael Penix Jr. is scheduled to have a dinner meeting with the New England Patriots Monday, April 15, and will have an official visit with the Patriots Tuesday, April 16, according to sources.

Footballguys view: Penix continues to build momentum as the draft draws nearer. He follows J.J. McCarthy, who visited with the Patriots on Monday. Previously, quarterbacks Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye visited New England, who have the No. 3 pick overall in next week's draft.

Chiefs | KC, Jonathon Brooks meeting Monday    Mon Apr 15, 05:07 PM

Texas RB Jonathon Brooks is having an official visit with the Kansas City Chiefs Monday, April 15.

Footballguys view: Brooks was en route to a historic season in 2024 before he suffered a season-ending ACL injury, with 1,139 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, plus 25 catches for 286 yards and a receiving touchdown. Running back might not be viewed as the biggest need, but the Chiefs do need to find a back with some long-term potential as a complement and maybe even eventual successor to Isiah Pacheco.

Rams | Ronnie Rivers signs tender offer    Mon Apr 15, 04:11 PM

Los Angeles Rams exclusive rights free-agent RB Ronnie Rivers signed his one-year tender offer Monday, April 15. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Vikings | Justin Jefferson asbent    Mon Apr 15, 02:37 PM

Minnesota Vikings WR Justin Jefferson was not in attendance for the start of voluntary offseason workouts Monday, April 15.

Footballguys view: It's not a surprise that Jefferson isn't on hand for the start of offseason workouts, which are voluntary. Of course, Jefferson is looking for a contract extension that is likely to set records for a receiver and perhaps any non-quarterback. It's likely his absence from offseason workouts is related to that.

Cowboys | CeeDee Lamb absent    Mon Apr 15, 11:40 AM

Dallas Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb isn't expected to report to voluntary offseason workouts Monday, April 15, as he seeks a new contract.

Footballguys view: Lamb, who led the NFL with 135 receptions last season (along with 1,749 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns), is scheduled to earn just under $18 million in the final year of his rookie contract. His desire to be one of the highest-paid receivers in the league is understandable and skipping voluntary workouts to help get that point across is to be expected. Things will get interested if Lamb is willing to sit out mandatory sessions when they bein in June. It's a situation to monitor.

Eagles | DeVonta Smith extended    Mon Apr 15, 11:06 AM

Philadelphia Eagles WR DeVonta Smith received a three-year, $75 million extension Monday, April 15, that includes $51 million guaranteed.

Footballguys view: Smith, who has proven himself as both a deep threat and a catch-and-run weapon, becomes the fifth receiver in the NFL with a contract averaging $25 million or more per season, joining Tyreek Hill of the Miami Dolphins ($30 million), Davante Adams of the Las Vegas Raiders ($28 million), Cooper Kupp of the Los Angeles Rams ($26.7 million) and Smith's teammate, A.J. Brown ($25 million). As ESPN.com notes, Smith and Brown became the first receiver tandem in Eagles history to each reach 1,000 yards receiving in 2022 and they repeated the feat last season. Teamed with quarterback Jalen Hurts, they've helped fuel an offense that ranks fifth in points per game (26.8) over the past two seasons and have developed a strong bond over that time. Smith is WR19 on the Footballguys 2024 Draft Rankings; this news solidifies that spot.

Jets | Brock Bowers meeting with Jets    Mon Apr 15, 10:08 AM

Georgia TE Brock Bowers is visiting the New York Jets Monday, April 15.

Footballguys view: The Jets, who have the 10th pick overall, have multiple needs, but tight end has to be near the top of that list. Bowers is widely expected to be the first tight end off the board in next week's NFL Draft.

Colts | DeForest Buckner extended    Mon Apr 15, 09:23 AM

Indianapolis Colts DT DeForest Buckner signed a two-year, $46 million extension through the 2026 season Monday, April 15.

Footballguys view: The move is the latest by Indianapolis to solidify one of its foundational players after numerous other re-signings earlier in the offseason. The Colts had already committed roughly $190 million in new money to extensions for a group of returning players that includes receiver Michael Pittman Jr., cornerback Kenny Moore II, nose tackle Grover Stewart, and linebacker Zaire Franklin. Since entering the league in 2016, Buckner has the fourth-most sacks as an interior defensive lineman, behind Aaron Donald (68.5), Jones (60.5) and Cameron Heyward (56.5) -- despite drawing consistent double-teams from opponents. er ESPN.com, he has the fourth-highest double-team rate as a defensive tackle since 2020 (65%).

Ravens | Baltimore likely to pick a running back    Sun Apr 14, 11:57 AM

Baltimore Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta said there is a 'strong chance' that the team will select a running back in the 2024 NFL Draft. He believes a lot of backs will be chosen between the third and fifth rounds and said that the Ravens have looked at a lot of the players projected to be drafted during those rounds. RBs Derrick Henry, Justice Hill and Keaton Mitchell are currently the top three players on Baltimore's depth chart at the position.

Footballguys view: Behind Henry, who is nearing the end of his career, the Ravens have some interesting/explosive talent in guys like Hill and Mitchell. However, they could use more talent and could add a potential future starter in the mid-rounds of the draft. We could see them drafting someone like Braelon Allen (Wisconsin) or Marshawn Lloyd (USC) in the third round to push Hill and Mitchell for playing time.

Colts | Indy may have interest in Brock Bowers    Sun Apr 14, 10:32 AM

The Indianapolis Colts are reportedly interested in Georgia TE Brock Bowers and could select him if he is still available with the No. 15 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. If Bowers is off the board by then, the Colts would likely make drafting a cornerback a top priority.

Footballguys view: The Colts have the no.15 overall pick, and by that time Bowers should be off the board. We could make the argument that he's the no.3 talent in this class regardless of position. Bowers is a weapon that can fly down the field and attack the vertical seam of a defense. The Colts have guys like Kylen Granson and Mo Alie-Cox, but Bowers would be a huge upgrade.

NFL | Malachi Corley to visit two NFC West clubs    Sun Apr 14, 09:55 AM

Western Kentucky WR Malachi Corley is slated to visit the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks next week.

Footballguys view: Corley could be an option for teams in the second round of the 2024 NFL draft. He's a run-after-the-catch threat, and Corley knows how to make defenders look silly with the ball in his hands. We're expecting Corley to come off the board in the top 50 picks.

Titans | Treylon Burks will have to earn it    Sun Apr 14, 02:30 AM

Tennessee Titans WR Treylon Burks is not a lock to have a significant role in 2024. 'Treylon's potential is very high. First-round pick, we see all the talent. But he's going to get what he earns,' offensive coordinator Nick Holz said on Wednesday, April 10.

Footballguys view: With Calvin Ridley added this offseason, Burks has been pushed further down the depth chart. The former first-round pick has talent, but he's only played in 20 games over the last two seasons. He's got to stay healthy and start playing up to his potential or his future in Tennessee will be in doubt past 2024.

Cowboys | CeeDee Lamb extension talks haven't gotten serious    Sun Apr 14, 01:05 AM

Contrary to a previous report, the Dallas Cowboys have not yet had substantial talks with the agent for WR CeeDee Lamb regarding a contract extension, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

Footballguys view: Some think Lamb will not report to participate in camp until he gets an extension. Last year, he posted career highs across the board in receptions (135), receiving yards (1,749), and touchdowns (12). He's in line to be the highest-paid receiver in the league. With only $3.4 million in effective cap space (per OverTheCap.com), the Cowboys have their work cut out for them.

NFL | Ladd McConkey attracting lots of interest    Sun Apr 14, 12:19 AM

14 NFL teams have done in-person work with Georgia WR Ladd McConkey in advance of the 2024 NFL Draft, according to ESPN's Mike Garafolo.

Footballguys view: No surprise here. McConkey has some Cooper Kupp to his game, and he's got the speed, tenacity, and receiving ability to be a major weapon in the pros.

Broncos | Keilan Robinson visits Monday    Fri Apr 12, 06:37 PM

Texas RB Keilan Robinson had an official visit with the Denver Broncos Monday, April 8, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Robinson is a late-round or priority free agent, but he's got upside as a dual-purpose back. He's got instincts as a runner, but Robinson can stand out on screen passes where his moves and speed can make defenders look silly. Robinson is bounce-happy, and he too often looks to go outside instead of sticking his foot in the ground and plugging it up the middle when things are cramped. That won't work in the pros.

Broncos | Dallin Holker talks with Broncos    Fri Apr 12, 06:30 PM

Colorado State TE Dallin Holker had an official visit with the Denver Broncos earlier this week, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Holker is a late-round prospect with a nose for the end zone. He's not Trey McBride (a former CSU star), but Holker is a smoother-than-you-expect athlete who knows how to find the soft spot in a zone. We like him after the catch, and even though he's not a burner he can get by defenders who underestimate his athletic ability. The Broncos need a playmaking tight end, and if they wait until Day 3 of the draft Holker should be an option.

NFL | Devontez Walker receiving interest    Fri Apr 12, 05:24 PM

North Carolina WR Devontez Walker is scheduled to have official visits with the Carolina Panthers and New York Jets before the 2024 NFL Draft. He has also had virtual meetings with the Tennessee Titans, Green Bay Packers, Las Vegas Raiders, Cincinnati Bengals, Philadelphia Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Footballguys view: Walker has a fine size/speed combination, and he was a favorite target of QB Drake Maye in college. He's a speed merchant, but Walker needs to learn the full route tree to maximize his potential in the pros. He's likely to be a Day-2 pick in the draft.

Jets | NYJ, Jordan Travis to meet    Fri Apr 12, 04:46 PM

Florida State QB Jordan Travis is scheduled to have an official visit with the New York Jets this weekend, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Travis is an interesting developmental quarterback. He's got pocket presence and a quick release, but Travis needs time to develop. Travis can move, and he's a threat to take off and run. We like his ability to distribute, but he's been too much of a 'see-it, throw-it' guy at this point. Staying on time, throwing with anticipation, and staying healthy (he's a smaller prospect) are the biggest concerns with Travis.

Jets | Troy Franklin touched base with NY Jets    Fri Apr 12, 02:12 PM

University of Oregon WR Troy Franklin recently met with the New York Jets, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. Franklin met with the Buffalo Bills on Thursday, April 12, and has already visited the Cleveland Browns, New York Jets, Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots this spring.

Footballguys view: Do not forget about Franklin. There's the 'big 3' at receiver, and those guys should go in the top-10. However, Franklin is a first-round receiver too and he can make plays. We like his versatility to play outside or from the slot. While not the largest receiver (175 pounds), Franklin can get down the field in a hurry.

Browns | Cleveland met with Ladd McConkey    Fri Apr 12, 01:24 PM

University of Georgia WR Ladd McConkey recently visited with the Cleveland Browns, according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport.

Footballguys view: McConkey is drawing some Cooper Kupp comparisons in the pre-draft process. He's fun to watch on film, and McConkey was a favorite player of our very own Cecil Lammey down at the Senior Bowl earlier this year. He's fast, quick, and McConkey is competitive after the catch. He's not Kupp, but we could see him as a plus-Marvin Mims (Broncos) player for any team interested.

Eagles | DeVonta Smith engaged in extension talks    Fri Apr 12, 01:11 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR DeVonta Smith is under contract through 2024 at a base salary of just over $1 million and the team has until May 2 to exercise the fifth-year option on Smith's rookie deal for around $16 million.

Footballguys view: You know Eagles' GM Howie Roseman is going to work his magic. Contract extension talks are reportedly ongoing and there is optimism that a deal will materialize shortly, according to sources.
