Eagles | Andrew Mukuba catching DeVonta Smith's eye Mon Jun 30, 02:42 PM
Philadelphia Eagles S Andrew Mukuba was the rookie who impressed WR DeVonta Smith the most during offseason workouts.
Link to storyUpdating a previous report, Miami Dolphins CB Jalen Ramsey, TE Jonnu Smith and a 2027 seventh-round pick were traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for S Minkah Fitzpatrick and a 2027 fifth-round pick on S Minkah Fitzpatrick and a 2027 fifth-round pick.
Footballguys view: Ramsey, who has 24 interceptions in his career, joins a loaded cornerback group with the Steelers, who signed Darius Slay Jr. in free agency earlier this offseason and also have incumbent starter Joey Porter Jr. Ramsey was credited with 11 pass breakups last season but recorded only two interceptions -- his lowest total since 2020. |

Pittsburgh Steelers S Minkah Fitzpatrick and a 2027 fifth-round pick were acquired by the Miami Dolphins Monday, June 30, in exchange for TE Jonnu Smith, CB Jalen Ramsey and a 2027 seventh-round pick.
Footballguys view: Fitzpatrick, 28, was productive after being acquired by the Steelers in 2019, nabbing five interceptions in 14 games with his new team. He had multiple interceptions in each of the following three seasons, including a career-high six in 2022. However, he hit a slump in 2023 and failed to record a single pick as he battled injuries throughout that season. Still, Fitzpatrick has 20 interceptions in his career, and acquiring him is a significant step for a Dolphins team looking to replace its entire starting secondary from a season ago. |

Miami Dolphins CB Jalen Ramsey was acquired by the Pittsburgh Steelers Monday, June 30, for an undisclosed package. As a part of the trade, Ramsey will get a $1.5 million raise this season, which brings his 2025 compensation up to $26.6 million.

San Francisco 49ers CB Deommodore Lenoir was arrested in Los Angeles for obstruction of justice on Thursday, June 26. According to multiple reports, police approached a group of people and saw a gun in a parked car. When the driver was asked to his keys over, he threw the keys to Lenoir, who refused to allow the officers to have access to the car.
Footballguys view: While this is a minor incident and probably would not result in a significant suspension, it is still worth noting after the 49ers and Lenoir agreed on a five-year, $92 million deal this offseason. He's been a quality starter for them and will be their #1 corner after Charvarius Ward signed with Indianapolis this offseason. |

Updating a previous report, free-agent CB Jaire Alexander (Packers) signed a one-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens Wednesday, June 18, worth as much as $6 million.

Free-agent CB Jaire Alexander (Packers) signed with the Baltimore Ravens Wednesday, June 18. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Subsequent reporting indicates Alexander signed a one-year contract for $4 million with $2 million in incentives. Alexander boosts a corner crew that includes All-Pro Marlon Humphrey, 2024 first-rounder Nate Wiggins and veteran Chidobe Awuzie. If he remains healthy, Alexander and Wiggins outside and Humphrey in the slot make for a very good trio. Of course, health has been an issue for Alexander. With the Packers unable to count on him week in and week out, they didn't want to pay $16.5 million in base salary. Now, however, the Ravens get Alexander at a considerable discount. |

Houston Texans DB Jimmie Ward is facing a felony assault family violence charge following an incident at his home on Thursday, June 12.
Footballguys view: As we've seen in recent years, the NFL prefers to wait to suspend players for off-field incidents until after the legal system has concluded its process, which can take years. Ward opened last season as a starter for the Texans, but missed almost half of the season and the playoffs. The team traded for Chauncey Gardner-Johnson and has Calen Bullock and Jalen Pitre youthfully ascending at safety, so Ward is not essential if he does have to sit out at some point in 2025 because of this. |

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills CB Maxwell Hairston (hamstring) suffered a hamstring injury in practice on Wednesday, June 11, and did not practice on Thursday, June 12. According to general manager Brandon Beane, Hairston is receiving treatment on the injury and expected to be ready for the start of training camp next month.
Footballguys view: Hairston was presumably drafted to match with the speedy receivers the Bills will have to face in the playoffs. We'll be watching to see if he's ready for the open of camp and can stay healthy so he can suit up for the highly anticipated season opener against Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, DeAndre Hopkins and the rest of the Baltimore Ravens. |
Buffalo Bills first-round draft choice CB Maxwell Hairston (Kentucky) signed his four-year rookie contract on Friday, June 13. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed, but the deal includes a fifth-year team option.

Miami Dolphins CB Jalen Ramsey is not at the team's minicamp Tuesday, June 10.
Footballguys view: Ramsey's absence is excused, per head coach Mike McDaniel, and therefore, he will not be fined. The Dolphins are in the process of trying to trade the Pro Bowl corner, so it makes sense that they wouldn't require his presence during minicamp. |

Free-agent CB Jaire Alexander (Packers) was the subject of trade talks between the Buffalo Bills and the Green Bay Packers before the Packers decided to release Alexander, according to sources.
Link to storyJaire Alexander player page
Green Bay Packers CB Jaire Alexander was released Monday, June 9.
Footballguys view: The Packers have tried to trade Alexander this offseason, and they've also tried to work out a revised contract, but those efforts have been unsuccessful. Talent isn't the concern with the 28-year-old corner. When healthy, the 2018 first-round pick is one of the best cover men in the NFL. Instead, Alexander is on his way out after missing 34 games over the last four seasons. The timing of the release coincides with the Packers' opening of mandatory minicamp on Tuesday. The Bills were among the teams discussing a possible trade, and they could pursue Alexander as a free agent. |

Cleveland Browns DE Alex Wright (undisclosed) and S Ronnie Hickman (undisclosed) worked on the side during practice Wednesday, May 28.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins CB Cam Smith (leg) suffered an apparent leg injury during practice Wednesday, May 28.
Footballguys view: A second-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Smith has played 21 games in two pro seasons (with zero starts). He's been banged up quite a bit so far in his young pro career, but he's an athletic (and sometimes grabby) corner who doesn't back down from a challenge. The physical talent has always been there with Smith, but he needs to get healthy and stay healthy to further prove himself as a pro player (and possible starter). |

Chicago Bears S Kevin Byard said he wants to stay with the Bears for the rest of his career but understands it's a year-to-year situation. 'I put everything, my heart and my soul into this year, to this team, to this group of guys, and then we revisit those things in the offseason,' Byard said this week, via team transcript. Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills CB Tre'Davious White signed a one-year contract in April that could max out at $6.8 million. However, the deal will pay him a base salary of $1.56 million, a signing bonus of $1 million and guarantee him $2.2 million at signing along with some incentives and workout bonuses. All told, he will count only $2.88 million against the salary cap in 2025.
