Footballguys view: It's Chargers versus Raiders on the Monday night finale in Week 2. Bowers said he would be okay, and practicing on Saturday makes us feel better about his availability. Nothing is official, so make sure to have other options (perhaps evan Raiders backup TE Michael Mayer) ready in case Bowers doesn't play. |

Las Vegas Raiders TE Brock Bowers (knee) is not participating in practice Thursday, Sept. 11.
Footballguys view: This is looking like a game-time decision. Nothing has been announced, but Bowers insists he's fine with this knee injury. It may not be a serious knee injury, but it's cause for pause when considering your starting lineup. Let's see what Bowers does on Friday. |
Las Vegas Raiders LB Devin White's performance in Week 1 was at a level that it hasn't been at in a couple of years, according to head coach Pete Carroll. 'He was a hammer,' Carroll said. 'He looked good. I was really excited that his presence was so obvious.'

Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty turned in a disappointing performance in his NFL debut, carrying 19 times for 38 yards and catching two passes for two yards. Raiders head coach Pete Carroll said Jeanty was so eager to make big plays that he didn't take his time to read the defense and find his holes, and that Jeanty will be better in Week 2 because he's got an NFL game under his belt. "Ashton was hyped," Carroll said. "He was jacked up, and he would tell you, I think, that he wishes he had been a little more patient on some reads and things like that. That will come."
Footballguys view: For fantasy investors, it's important to note the rookie's usage was on point, even if the totals weren't ideal. According to Pro Football Focus, Jeanty played 86 percent of the Raiders' offensive snaps, which is ideal for a fantasy running back. The one area where Zamir White sometimes took snaps from Jeanty was on third downs. As PFF's Nathan Jahnke suggested, the manager in your league who drafted Jeanty is unlikely to give up on him after one week, but it can't hurt to send a trade offer just in case. |
Las Vegas Raiders WR Alex Bachman reverted back to the practice squad Monday, Sept. 8, after being on the active roster for Week 1.

Las Vegas Raiders TE Brock Bowers (knee) is considered day-to-day because of the knee injury he suffered in Week 1, according to head coach Pete Carroll.
Footballguys view: "Really, we're just going day-to-day," Carroll said of Bowers, who finished Sunday's win over the Patriots with five catches for 103 yards in less than three quarters of action. Carroll added that the extra day the team gets before playing the Chargers next Monday night will be helpful. "I know the Chargers have that going even more so with the break they have," Carroll said. "But this will really help us and give us a chance." The Raiders will release their first injury report for Week 2 on Thursday. |
Las Vegas Raiders QB Geno Smith (hamstring) experienced some hamstring tightness during the second half of the Week 1 game but continued playing, according to head coach Pete Carroll.
Footballguys view: The injury didn't slow Smith. He completed 70.5 percent of his passes for 362 yards and one touchdown to one pick in the 20-13 Raiders victory over the Patriots. "He was just on it," Carroll said, praising all of Smith's performance. "It was a great finish for him, too." The Raiders' first injury report of Week 2 will be released on Thursday. We'll follow up on Smith as needed. |

Las Vegas Raiders TE Brock Bowers (knee) said he will be fine moving forward after leaving the Week 1 game because of a knee injury.
Footballguys view: Bowers left to be checked out in the sideline medical tent in the second half of Sunday's win over the Patriots and did not return to the game. While he said the knee feels fine, Bowers allowed that time will tell if there is anything to worry about. "Just kept me out for concern. We have an extra day, so we'll see," Bowers said, via Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com. Bowers had five catches for 103 yards, so they'd prefer that he be available for a Monday night matchup with the Chargers. |
Las Vegas Raiders DE Maxx Crosby totaled two tackles, one solo stop, a sack, a tackle for loss, a pass defensed and two quarterback hits in Week 1 against the New England Patriots.

Las Vegas WRs Jack Bech and Alex Bachman were each targeted one time in Week 1 against the New England Patriots. Bech had a 23-yard reception, while Bachman didn't have a catch.

Las Vegas Raiders TE Michael Mayer registered four receptions for 38 yards on four targets in Week 1 against the New England Patriots.

Las Vegas Raiders WR Dont'e Thornton Jr. totaled two receptions for 45 yards on four targets in Week 1 against the New England Patriots.
Link to storyLas Vegas Raiders RB Zamir White ran three times for eight yards in Week 1 against the New England Patriots, and he was not targeted in the pass game.

Las Vegas Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers registered a game-high eight receptions and 10 targets in Week 1 against the New England Patriots, finishing with 97 receiving yards.
Footballguys view: Meyers was very reliable for Geno Smith and should be a steady everyweek WR2/WR3 start in PPR leagues. He could have an even higher ceiling next week if Brock Bowers can't go on Monday night against the Chargers. |

Updating a previous report, Las Vegas Raiders TE Brock Bowers (knee) left the Week 1 game against the New England Patriots in the fourth quarter due to a knee injury. He finished with five receptions for 103 yards on eight targets.
Link to storyLas Vegas Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty ran 19 times for just 38 yards in Week 1 against the New England Patriots, although he did score his first NFL touchdown. He also had a pair of catches for two yards on his two targets.
Footballguys view: He displayed the advertised contact balance on his touchdown, but otherwise it was a very pedestrian day for Jeanty and the Raiders running game. Don't get too discouraged because it was a great day overall for the Raiders offense and very promising for everyone's outlook. A tougher matchup is up next week against the Chargers. |
Las Vegas Raiders QB Geno Smith completed 24-of-34 passes for 362 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Week 1 against the New England Patriots, and he ran twice for 10 yards while taking four sacks. He had the most passing yards in a player's Raiders debut since Dan Pastorini set the team record with 317 yards in his debut in 1980.
Footballguys view: Smith had a big day against a Patriots secondary missing their #1 corner. It's not clear if Christian Gonzalez will be able to return from his hamstring injury next week, but the Patriots opponent is the Dolphins, so they may not need him. Smith was rejuvenated by being reunited with Pete Carroll in a Chip Kelly offense with Brock Bowers and Jakobi Meyers leading the way in the passing game. Smith will face a tough Chargers defense on Monday night next week. We'll see if Brock Bowers can play after leaving today with a minor knee injury before we make recommendations about Smith next week, but he should be picked up if you need a backup fantasy quarterback or otherwise were unhappy with the player(s) you drafted. |

Las Vegas Raiders TE Brock Bowers (knee) left the Week 1 game against the New England Patriots in the fourth quarter due to a knee injury, and he is listed as questionable to return. Bowers had five receptions for 103 yards on eight targets before departing.
Footballguys view: This game started and ended with terrible news for Bowers fantasy teams, which bookended the typical brilliance from the second year tight end that made him the consensus #1 player at his position in fantasy leagues. The Raiders decided to limit Bowers to about 1/3 of the snaps on their early drives, which mimicked preseason usage that most failed to believe was a credible plan. Later, Bowers broke free for multiple long gains, and it felt like everything was going to be ok despite the Raiders hard-headed coaching decisions. Then, Bowers left late in the game because of a knee. Michael Mayer was an early second round pick and very capable, so pending the news on Bowers' injury, Bowers teams could be targeting Mayer (or Juwan Johnson or Harold Fannin or Jonnu Smith or Noah Fant) to have an option for their Week 2 lineup. |
Updating a previous report, Las Vegas Raiders LB Elandon Roberts (elbow) will not return to the Week 1 game because of his elbow injury.

Las Vegas Raiders QB Kenny Pickett (hamstring) and CB Kyu Blu Kelly (hamstring) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 4.
Link to storyLas Vegas Raiders WR Amari Cooper announced his retirement on Thursday, Sept. 4.
Footballguys view: Cooper just signed with the Raiders on August 25th. After 10 years in the NFL, Cooper decided to hang up his cleats. He finishes his career with 708 catches, 10,018 yards, and 64 receiving touchdowns. This retirement opens the door for a rookie we love in Donte Thornton. This week against the Patriots, we like Thornton as a 'what the heck' flex. |

Footballguys view: Miller is a quarterback we'll monitor in crazy deep dynasty formats. Undrafted out of North Dakota State, Miller has good traits as a runner in addition to his processing power as a passer. He may lack arm strength on boundary/deep throws, but there's enough moxie here to keep around as a developmental prospect. |

The Las Vegas Raiders acquired QB Kenny Pickett from the Cleveland Browns on Monday, Aug. 25 in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Pickett is expected to serve as the primary backup to QB Geno Smith after QB Aidan O'Connell suffered a fractured wrist over the weekend.
Footballguys view: Pickett has been involved in a four-man race for the starting job in Cleveland this preseason, though the Browns opted to tab veteran Joe Flacco as their starting quarterback. Flacco beat out Pickett, who dealt with a minor hamstring injury early on, Dillon Gabriel, and Shedeur Sanders for the job. Pickett, a first-round pick in 2022, originally was traded by the Steelers to the Eagles. In March, the Eagles traded him to the Browns for quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson and a fifth-round pick. |
Free-agent WR Amari Cooper (Bills) agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Las Vegas Raiders Monday, Aug. 25, according to a source. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: The 31-year-old Cooper started his NFL career with the Raiders as the fourth overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft. He spent three and a half years playing for the Raiders in Oakland before he was traded to the Cowboys during the 2018 season. Last year Cooper played six games for the Browns and eight for the Bills and totaled 44 catches for 547 yards and four touchdowns. As Profootballtalk.com suggests, the Raiders will hope Cooper can catch on quickly, develop rapport with quarterback Geno Smith, and make an impact in short order. |

Las Vegas Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers recently asked the team to trade him after the two sides were not able to agree to a contract extension. The Raiders do not plan on moving Meyers.
Footballguys view: Rapoport added that Meyers' desire to be traded comes from the two sides' failure to reach an agreement on a contract extension. Meyers signed a three-year deal with the Raiders in 2023 and has been a consistent producer since. He had a career-best 1,027 yards in 2024, which is made more impressive because he had to overcome poor quarterback play and shared the same offense as Brock Bowers. With Tre Tucker and rookies Dont'e Thornton and Jack Bech the next men up, the Raiders will wisely stand pat. Meyers is being drafted as WR38 in Round 7. |

After Las Vegas Raiders QB Aidan O'Connell (wrist) suffered a fractured wrist, keeping him sidelined six to eight weeks, head coach Pete Carroll said Sunday, Aug. 24 that the team will be looking for 'an experienced player who can help us.'
Link to storyLas Vegas Raiders QB Aidan O'Connell (wrist) sustained a fractured right wrist during the first half of the preseason game versus the Arizona Cardinals Saturday, Aug. 23. He is expected to miss six to eight weeks, according to head coach Pete Carroll.
Footballguys view: The Raiders also have sixth round pick Cam Miller on the roster, but this injury will put them in the market for a backup quarterback. The problem is that they aren't the only team looking to address their backup situation. If you have any Raiders on your fantasy team, know that it's even more important that Geno Smith stays healthy this season. |
Las Vegas Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty (shoulder) went to the medical tent during the preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers with a stinger before returning. He finished with seven carries for 33 yards and a touchdown and caught one pass for two yards.
