Chargers | LAC agrees to deals with seven picks    Fri May 9, 04:42 PM

Los Angeles Chargers third-round draft choice DT Jamaree Caldwell, fourth-round draft choice LB Kyle Kennard, fifth-round draft choice WR KeAndre Lambert-Smith, fifth-round draft choice TE Oronde Gadsden II, sixth-round draft choice OG Branson Taylor, sixth-round draft choice S R.J. Mickens and seventh-round draft choice CB Trikweze Bridges signed four-year contracts with the Chargers Friday, May 9. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Orande Gadsen II is a player with a freakish athletic skill set. He's a weapon as a tight end, and Gadsen can use a blend of size and speed to make plays. Gadsen will learn behind Will Dissly and Tyler Conklin in his rookie season, but he's got the upside to one day be a starter.

49ers | Seven draft picks sign rookie contracts    Fri May 9, 04:10 PM

San Francisco 49ers third-round draft choice LB Nick Martin, third-round draft choice CB Upton Stout, fourth-round draft choice WR Jordan Watkins, fifth-round draft choice RB Jordan James, fifth-round draft choice S Marques Sigle, seventh-round draft choice Connor Colby and seventh-round draft choice WR Junior Bergen signed four-year contracts with the 49ers Friday, May 9. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Any running back added to the 49ers roster will attract out attention. James can turn short passes into long gains with speed and quickness. We'll watch him in camp as he works to earn a roster spot behind starting RB Christian McCaffrey.

Commanders | WAS reaches deals with three rookies    Fri May 9, 02:33 PM

Washington Commanders fourth-round draft choice WR Jaylin Lane, sixth-round draft choice LB Kain Medrano and seventh=round draft choice RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt signed four-year contracts with the Commanders Friday, May 9. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Lane is a player who can attack all three levels of the field with speed. He is buried on the depth chart right now, but Lane's speed and moves in the open field will be intriguing enough to earn him a roster spot where he can develop. Croskey-Merritt is one of our favorite sleeper running backs in this class. He's got a three-down skill set with intent as a runner and decent receiving chops. Watch Croskey-Merritt in crazy deep dynasty leagues.

Patriots | Multiple draft picks sign contracts    Fri May 9, 02:30 PM

New England Patriots third-round draft choice WR Kyle Williams, third-round draft choice C Jared Wilson, fourth-round draft choice Joshua Farmer, fifth-round draft choice LB Bradyn Swinson, sixth-round draft choice PK Andres Borregales, seventh-round draft choice OT Marcus Bryant, seventh-round draft choice CB Kobee Minor and seventh-round draft choice LS Julian Ashby signed four-year contracts with the Patriots Friday, May 9. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Kyle Williams is a quick receiver with speed to flip the field on any catch. He'll have a chance to become a favorite target for QB Drake Maye this year. Williams begins his pro career as the no.3 receiver on the depth chart behind Stefon Diggs and DeMario Douglas.

Texans | Jaylin Noel, Luke Lachey sign deals    Fri May 9, 02:21 PM

Houston Texans third-round draft choice WR Jaylin Noel and seventh-round draft choice TE Luke Lachey signed four-year contracts with the Texans Friday, May 9. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Noel is a hyper quick receiver who can get open in tight spaces. In addition to what he can do as a slot receiver, Noel should contribute on special teams as a returner. Lachey had a knee injury a few years ago at Iowa, and he would've been a higher draft pick if not for that injury. There's some TJ Hockenson to his game, but he's clearly got to stay healthy and prove himself as a late-round pick.

Bills | BUF signs six picks    Fri May 9, 11:36 AM

Buffalo Bills third-round pick DE Landon Jackson, fifth-round pick DB Jordan Hancock, fifth-round pick TE Jackson Hawes, sixth-round pick CB Dorian Strong, sixth-round pick OT Chase Lundt and seventh-round pick WR Kaden Prawther signed undisclosed four-year deals Friday, May 7.

Footballguys view: Hawes is a player we will monitor in deep dynasty formats. A former high school linebacker, Hawes was mostly a blocker in college at Yale. He needs to develop as a route runner and we'll see if the Bills want to use him as more than a blocker. Prawther is an outside receiver with good ball skills, but he's not afraid to mix things up in the middle of the field.

Buccaneers | Emeka Egbuka signs rookie deal    Fri May 9, 11:12 AM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers first-round pick WR Emeka Egbuka signed his rookie, four-year, $18.1 million contract Friday, May 9. All first-round pick contracts include a fifth-year option.

Footballguys view: Egbuka is going to command attention from opposing defenses right away. He's got the ability to take the top off the defense immediately, and Egbuka has great hands to make difficult catches seem routine. Clearly a no.1 receiver of the future for the Buccaneers, Egbuka will learn behind Mike Evans and Chris Godwin as a rookie.

Giants | Gabe Davis could be option    Thu May 8, 04:04 PM

Free-agent WR Gabe Davis (Jaguars) could receive some interest from the New York Giants since he is familiar with head coach Brian Daboll's offensive scheme, in the opinion of GiantsWire's John Fennelly.

Footballguys view: Davis spent time working with Daboll when they were with the Buffalo Bills. The Giants may be looking for a veteran to add to the room with young players like Malik Nabers and WanDale Robinson at the top of the depth chart. If added, Davis would compete with guys like Darius Slayton, Lil Jordan Humphrey, and Jalin Hyatt.

Panthers | Jadeveon Clowney among seven players cut    Thu May 8, 02:15 PM

Carolina Panthers LB Jadeveon Clowney, TE Jordan Matthews and WR Dax Milne were released Thursday, May 8. The team also waived WR T.J. Luther, OG Andrew Raym and DT Jerrod Clark and waived/injured DT Popo Aumavae (undisclosed).

Footballguys view: Clowney is the biggest name here, and it's not a surprise considering there were rumblings he could be cut before the draft. In 14 games last year, Clowney totaled 5.5 sacks and can still get after the passer in a part-time role. Clowney should have no problem getting a job for 2025.

Lions | Isaac TeSlaa to factor in on special teams    Thu May 8, 10:14 AM

Detroit Lions WR Isaac TeSlaa figures to make his initial impact on special teams, in the opinion of beat writer Tim Twentyman.

Footballguys view: TeSlaa is a physical freak with a great size/speed combination, but he never was a returner in college at Hillsdale or Arkansas. The Lions wanted to take a chance on his insane athleticism, and that's why they moved two third-round picks to select him at no.70 overall. Most young players begin on teams, but it may not be long before TeSlaa is making noise on offense for the Lions. We love his upside in dynasty formats.

Steelers | Pittsburgh to check in on veteran wideouts?    Thu May 8, 01:30 AM

After trading WR George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys, the Pittsburgh Steelers now hold multiple third-round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft. In the opinion of ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Steelers could use one of those in a package to acquire a veteran receiver in a trade -- to that end, Fowler mentions San Francisco 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk (knee), Chicago Bears WR DJ Moore, and Green Bay Packers WR Romeo Doubs as possible targets. In free agency, Fowler highlights Amari Cooper (Bills) and Keenan Allen (Bears) as potential fits.

Footballguys view: DK Metcalf is the clear-cut no.1 receiver for the Steelers, and we'll see how things shake out behind him. Guys like Robert Woods, Calvin Austin, and Roman Wilson will compete to create a pecking order. We'll see if the Steelers take a longer look at any of the available veterans...and oh yeah - if/when they sign QB Aaron Rodgers.

Cowboys | Jalen Tolbert moves down the depth chart    Thu May 8, 12:45 AM

Dallas Cowboys WR Jalen Tolbert is likely to be the player 'most impacted' by the acquisition of WR George Pickens, in the opinion of ESPN's Todd Archer, who notes that Tolbert split time between the WR2 and WR3 spots a season ago based on whether former Cowboys (and current New Orleans Saints) WR Brandin Cooks was available.

Footballguys view: No surprise here. Tolbert is now expected to slide into the No. 3 role behind Pickens and WR CeeDee Lamb. In 17 games last year, Tolbert caught a career high 49 catches for 610 yards and seven touchdowns. That was good for the no.39 ranking in standard-scoring leagues at the wide receiver position. With the addition of Pickens, Tolbert goes more into 'what the heck' flex territory than he was a WR4/deep flex option in 2024.

Dolphins | Another surgery for Tyreek Hill    Wed May 7, 06:00 PM

Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill (wrist) underwent a second surgery on his wrist Wednesday, May 7, but it will not change his recovery time because the surgery was part of the original plan, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Footballguys view: Hill had surgery in February to repair an injury he played through during the 2024 season. He posted pictures, via David Furones of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, from a surgical bed to social media on Tuesday. Hill captioned one of the Snapchat photos, "surgery #2," and another showed him with his wrist bandaged with the caption, "mission successful." Marcel-Louis Jacques of ESPN.com confirmed that Hill had screws removed from his wrist in a procedure that was part of his initial treatment plan. Word at the time of the initial surgery was that Hill would be ready to go for training camp, and there's no sign that anything has changed on that front.

Broncos | Pat Bryant under contract    Wed May 7, 04:50 PM

Denver Broncos third-round draft choice WR Pat Bryant agreed to terms on a four-year contract with the Broncos Wednesday, May 7, according to a source. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Courtland Sutton, 30, is heading into the final year of his contract, and Marvin Mims Jr. and Devaughn Vele are good complementary players. But Denver needed to address this position and add a target for quarterback Bo Nix. While the Broncos have compared Bryant to one of head coach Sean Payton's best players in New Orleans, Michael Thomas, the rookie has work to do to break into the rotation.

Steelers | Allen Lazard an option for PIT?    Wed May 7, 01:16 PM

New York Jets WR Allen Lazard could be a possible trade option for the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Why Lazard? It's because Aaron Rodgers completely trusts him. And Lazard, for whatever reason, performs much better with Rodgers than he does without him. Of course, all this hinges on Rodgers signing with the Steelers at some point. If that happens, it's worth noting that Lazard recently slashed his 2025 salary from $11 million to $2.5 million, with $1.75 million guaranteed. That would be a bargain for the Steelers, who suddenly have a hole on the depth chart behind DK Metcalf after trading George Pickens to the Cowboys earlier today.

Cowboys | George Pickens not looking for deal yet    Wed May 7, 01:05 PM

Dallas Cowboys WR George Pickens is not looking to sign a contract extension at this point because he wants to show he can be a top receiver for a team, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Pickens enters the final year of his four-year rookie contract. He's due to make $3.526 million. Profootballtalk.com's Mike Florio wrote: "It will be impossible for the Cowboys to justify paying Pickens without seeing him play, especially since they still haven't paid a dominant defensive player they have seen play for four years (in Micah Parsons)." Even if they decide to keep Pickens, it will be hard for him to get what he reportedly wants -- $30 million per year. Combined with the deal CeeDee Lamb signed last year (that pays an average of $34 million annually), that would be a lot of money to invest in the receiver position. Still, it's something the Cowboys and their new receiver can work out over time.

Jaguars | Gabe Davis released    Wed May 7, 10:42 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Gabe Davis was released Wednesday, May 7.

Footballguys view: Davis signed a three-year contract with the team as a free agent last offseason, but the Jaguars have changed their head coach and general manager since he arrived, and the move makes it clear he no longer had a spot in the team's plans. Jacksonville also released wide receiver Josh Reynolds and tight end Evan Engram in March. They traded wide receiver Christian Kirk and signed wide receiver Dyami Brown before trading up to take Travis Hunter with the second overall pick in the draft. Hunter and Brian Thomas Jr. will be the top fantasy prospects in this offense. Davis had 20 catches for 239 yards and two touchdowns in 10 games for the Jags.

Cowboys | George Pickens Traded to Dallas    Wed May 7, 09:22 AM

Pittsburgh Steelers WR George Pickens and a 2026 sixth-round pick were acquired from the Pittsburgh Steelers Wednesday, May 7, in exchange for a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick.

Footballguys view: The Cowboys' search for a No. 2 wide receiver opposite Pro Bowler CeeDee Lamb is over. Lamb will continue to dominate the targets in Dallas, but Pickens will get an upgrade with Dak Prescott at quarterback. Pickens should be viewed as a WR3 with upside in his new home.

Packers | Christian Watson talks rehab    Tue May 6, 02:16 PM

Green Bay Packers WR Christian Watson (knee) said he is doing 'really well' in his rehab after last season's torn anterior cruciate ligament, speaking with reporters Sunday, May 4. 'I'm in a really, really good spot,' Watson said. 'Just keeping the mentality there. Just working. I've got a couple more months ahead of me, but I'm attacking it every day. I'm in a really good spot.'

Footballguys view: The timing of the injury means that Watson has a cloudy outlook for a return in 2025. And even if the start of the offseason program has lifted Watson's spirits, the immediate future is uncertain. The Packers added Matthew Golden in the first round and Savion Williams in the third round, so they moved to bolster the receiver group well ahead of any concrete news about when Watson might be able to play. As Profootballtalk.com suggests, if that duo makes a quick transition to NFL life, Watson's future in Green Bay beyond 2025 -- the final year of his rookie deal -- will also be cloudy.

Browns | Diontae Johnson terms    Tue May 6, 10:52 AM

Updating previous reports, Cleveland Browns WR Diontae Johnson's one-year deal is for the veteran's minimum of $1.17 million and includes no guaranteed money.

Footballguys view: The Browns could cut Johnson at any point before the first week of the regular season and avoid being on the hook for any of that salary. Remember, Johnson was traded by the Steelers to the Panthers ahead of the 2024 season and played seven games for Carolina before being dealt to the Ravens. He was waived in December after refusing to enter a game and was claimed by the Texans. Houston cut him during the playoffs, and the Ravens claimed him in order to position themselves for a potential compensatory pick. They won't be getting that pick, and Johnson has work to do before he can be viewed as fantasy-relevant again.

Bills | Laviska Shenault Jr. still in the mix    Tue May 6, 01:48 AM

Buffalo Bills WR Laviska Shenault Jr., who signed with the club early in the offseason, 'can't be counted out' for a spot on the 53-man roster, in the opinion of The Athletic's Joe Buscaglia, who notes that the team liked him when he was entering the NFL draft and believe he could be an option as the team's kick returner. He could push fellow newcomer WR Elijah Moore for WR5 or could stick if the team elects to carry six receivers.

Footballguys view: Though Shenault didn't carve out a significant role at receiver during his time as a Panther, Carolina's then-special teams coordinator, Chris Tabor, saw an opportunity for Shenault to become a special teams weapon with the ball in his hands. Ultimately, it was just nine total kickoff returns, but they allowed Shenault to reinvent himself -- to become a valuable asset for teams prioritizing special teams play. Tabor is now with the Bills, having joined the team this offseason. Shenault said that Tabor played a huge role in his signing a one-year contract to play with Buffalo. Fantasy managers should expect special teams to be Shenault's primary focus.

Bills | Elijah Moore likely to stick in Buffalo    Tue May 6, 01:23 AM

Buffalo Bills WR Elijah Moore is likely to have the 'inside track' for a spot on the 53-man roster, per The Athletic's Joe Buscaglia, though he notes there figures to be competition for the fifth receiver spot. He considers WRs Keon Coleman, Khalil Shakir, Curtis Samuel, and newly signed WR Joshua Palmer to be entrenched as the top four.

Footballguys view: Moore can play multiple receiver spots, which could help him carve out a possible role in a group that includes Laviska Shenault Jr. The Bills also picked Kaden Prather out of Maryland in the seventh round Saturday, their only selection at wide receiver in the draft. Josh Allen has proven he can put up points despite not having a star-studded wideout room. Moore should have every chance to carve out a role in this offseason. We'll watch for more on that as the season draws nearer.

Browns | Cleveland makes it official with Diontae Johnson    Mon May 5, 03:31 PM

Free-agent WR Diontae Johnson (Ravens) officially signed an undisclosed contract with the Cleveland Browns on Monday, May 5.

Footballguys view: After playing for three different teams last year, Johnson hopes to find a role in a Cleveland receiving corps led by Jerry Jeudy and featuring DeAndre Carter, Cedric Tillman, Michael Woods II, Jamari Thrash, David Bell, and Kaden Davis. The Browns also have to figure out their starting QB, so any help they get on the outside is a plus.

Steelers | George Pickens doesn't want trade after all    Mon May 5, 01:57 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers WR George Pickens reportedly 'flirted' with the idea of requesting a trade but has seemingly had a change of heart about remaining with the team, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.'Trade talks or any sort of buzz around that has cooled. There was a little bit of smoke out of the draft, but I was told that Pickens, in the end, wants to be in Pittsburgh. Sort of flirted with a trade request, but in the end, loves (head coach) Mike Tomlin, wants to be a part of things,' Fowler said.

Footballguys view: As USA Today suggested, it's startling that Pickens was close to requesting a trade out of Pittsburgh, but there were issues. In his first three years in the league, he had to develop chemistry from scratch with Mitchell Trubisky, Kenny Pickett, Mason Rudolph, Justin Fields, and Russell Wilson -- all to have zero direction at QB heading into 2025. If the news about Pickens' love for Tomlin and the Steelers is to be believed, an extension -- instead of the previously speculated trade -- could be in the works.

Bills | Elijah Moore officially in the fold    Mon May 5, 01:03 PM

Free-agent WR Elijah Moore (Browns) officially signed a one-year contract with the Buffalo Bills on Monday, May 5. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.

Footballguys view: Moore also met with the media to discuss why he came to Buffalo. The list of reasons started with the player charged with getting him the ball this fall. Moore said quarterback Josh Allen's presence made it "very, very easy" to decide on the Bills as his next team. Moore also cited his fit with the offense when discussing what appealed to him about the Bills. Moore said he was looking for a club where his "talent isn't really there" and that he found it with the Bills. We'll watch in the coming weeks as the veteran wideout tries to carve out a role in Buffalo.
