Chicago Bears CB Kyler Gordon (hamstring) did not practice all week and has been ruled out for Week 2 against the Detroit Lions. WR Jahdae Walker (ankle) did not practice on Friday, Sept. 12, and is listed as doubtful. DL Grady Jarrett (knee) was limited in practice on Friday and is listed as questionable. CB Josh Blackwell (groin), LB T.J. Edwards (hamstring), CB Jaylon Johnson (calf, groin), RB Roschon Johnson (foot), and WR DJ Moore (abdomen, groin) practiced in full on Friday and no longer appear on the injury report.
Footballguys view: The Bears secondary will miss Gordon against the Lions passing game after JJ McCarthy came alive in the fourth quarter to snatch a comeback victory against a Bears defense that shut him down for three quarters. Roschon Johnson has been nursing that foot injury for weeks. Head coach Ben Johnson said he wants to get seventh round pick Kyle Monangai more involved this week. Johnson could also get his number called this week as the Bears will look to run more early than they did last week. |

Chicago Bears WR Rome Odunze had six receptions, 36 yards, and a touchdown against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1. He was targeted a team-high nine times.
Footballguys view: While Odunze's nine targets led the team, CBSSports.com notes that DJ Moore (68) and Olamide Zaccheaus (42) both had more receiving yards on Monday. Still, Odunze, a 2024 first-round pick, is set up for a more consistent role in his second NFL season after he had three-plus catches in only nine of 17 games as a rookie. Up next for the Bears is a Week 2 trip to Detroit. |
Chicago Bears WR DJ Moore had three catches for 70 yards in a Week 1 defeat against the Minnesota Vikings. Moore, who was targeted five times, added eight yards on three carries.

Chicago Bears RB D'Andre Swift ran the ball 17 times for 53 yards versus the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1. He also caught three passes (on five targets) for 12 yards.
Footballguys view: As Pro Football Focus' Nathan Jahnke noted, Swift averaged just 3.3 yards per carry, a modest start, but that's understandable behind a retooled offensive line and within a new scheme. Rookie Kyle Monangai saw limited work, and the Bears also mixed in some no-running-back sets, but Swift's snap rate mirrored his usage at the end of last season. Given his volume, Jahnke contends Swift remains a reliable weekly fantasy starter. |

Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams completed 21 of his 35 pass attempts for 211 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions in a Week 1 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Williams also led the team with 58 yards and a touchdown on six rushes.
Footballguys view: Williams started Monday's loss with 10 straight completions for 86 yards before the offense sputtered. ESPN.com's Courtney Cronin explained that Ben Johnson can design a script that gets multiple players involved and helps his team start fast, but Chicago couldn't build a commanding lead. Part of that has to do with a lack of run support and Williams reverting to old habits, like scrambling and trying to make a big play downfield instead of taking easy completions. Johnson must find ways to scheme around those weaknesses when he faces his former team, the Lions, in Week 2. |
The Chicago Bears have declared CB Jaylon Johnson, LB T.J. Edwards, QB Case Keenum, OT Kiran Amegadjie, RB Roschon Johnson, CB Kyler Gordon and DE Shemar Turner inactive for Week 1.

Chicago Bears RB Kyle Monangai (hamstring) fully participated in practice Saturday, Sept. 6, and is not on the injury report for Week 1.
Footballguys view: Monangai might be the primary backup to D'Andre Swift on Monday night. We love the rookie's skill set, and he's a Matt Waldman favorite, so it will be fun to see what he can do if/when he gets touches in Week 1. |
Chicago Bears LB T.J. Edwards (hamstring) and RB Roschon Johnson (foot) did not participate in practice Friday, Sept. 5. Chicago Bears RB Kyle Monangai (hamstring) was limited during practice Thursday, Sept. 4. The Bears did not hold a practice Thursday, so this is an estimation.
Footballguys view: Monangai is going to get some time behind D'Andre Swift in Week 1 against the Vikings. We love his upside in dynasty formats, and in re-draft leagues he might be worth a 'what the heck' flex early on. |
Chicago Bears CB Jaylon Johnson (groin) said Tuesday, Sept. 2 that he plans to get cleared to practice, and he is hopeful of playing in the Week 1 game against the Minnesota Vikings Monday, Sept. 8. He said that he hurt his groin while getting ready for training camp.

Chicago Bears RB D'Andre Swift will see 'plentiful' opportunities as both a runner and receiver this season, in the opinion of The Athletic's Dan Wiederer, who notes that there is 'little proven depth' in the backfield behind Swift, and that new head coach Ben Johnson is 'devoted' to the running game.

Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams wants to be a top-5 quarterback in the NFL, and head coach Ben Johnson is coaching him that way. 'The standard has been set, the bar has been set high,' Johnson said Sunday, Aug. 31. 'He has said he wants to not just be one of the best Top 5 quarterbacks in this league, but he wants to have a legacy that lasts for a long time. So, we're coaching him that way.'
Footballguys view: Fantasy managers have seen Williams produce at a high level. While he struggled under offensive coordinator Shane Waldron early last year, once Waldron was fired after Week 10, we got an immediate bump with Thomas Brown calling plays from Weeks 11 to 13. Williams was QB4 over that span, averaging 22.4 points per game. In Weeks 12 and 13 alone, he was QB3, putting up 25.5 per game. Williams finished the summer with a QB14 ADP right now, just behind his QB12 projection at Footballguys. The upside is there, but Williams still has plenty to prove on the field. |

Updating a previous report, Chicago Bears CB Zah Frazier (personal) will miss the 2025 season due to a 'personal' situation. He was the team's fifth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. He is on the Non-Football Injury list. 'Little bit complicated of a deal; he's going to go on NFI,' general manager Ryan Poles said Tuesday, Aug. 26.
