Cameron Wolfe, from NFL Network, reports the Tennessee Titans will scheme around their blocking concerns by designing plays that allow QB Cam Ward to get "the ball out of his hands quickly."
Footballguys view: Ward is a dangerous quarterback when the play breaks down. He gets to top speed in a hurry, and he is tough to get a bead on as a runner. Defenders can't bottle him up easily when chaos ensues. Getting the ball out of his hands quickly will be good for the timing and rhythm as he gets used to the pro game. |
Tennessee Titans WR Treylon Burks had his fifth-year option declined Thursday, May 1.
Footballguys view: No surprise here. The former first-round pick has failed to play up to expectations due to health mainly. He's still recovering from a torn ACL he suffered in Week 5 last season. The room is even more full this year with veteran additions and draft picks, so there's no guarantee Burks will make the final roster in what is clearly a 'prove-it' season. |
Tennessee Titans C Lloyd Cushenberry (Achilles) is making good progress in his recovery from his Achilles injury and has not had any setbacks, according to head coach Brian Callahan.
Link to storyTennessee Titans WR Treylon Burks (knee) is still working his way back from the knee injury he suffered during the 2024 season, according to head coach Brian Callahan. Callahan said Burks will need to make plays when he returns to the field.
Link to storyUndrafted free-agent QB Donovan X. Smith (Houston) has been invited to participate in the Tennessee Titans rookie minicamp on a tryout basis.
Link to storyTennessee Titans fourth-round draft choice WR Elic Ayomanor (Stanford) will 'start his work at X receiver but has the flexibility to do more,' according to head coach Brian Callahan.
Footballguys view: Ayomanor has smooth speed and the ability to run good routes. His game is somewhat polished already, and he should be able to improve with pro coaching. We like his hands, concentration, and ability to box out smaller defenders. He will serve as a reserve player this year for the Titans, but the upside is there for him to be a starter (likely at X receiver) someday. |
Free-agent LB Titus Leo (Patriots) and DB Mark Perry (Patriots) were claimed off waivers by the Tennessee Titans on Tuesday, April 29.
Link to storyUndrafted free-agent RB Micah Bernard (Utah) agreed to terms on an undisclosed contract Monday, April 28, with the Tennessee Titans.
Link to storyTennessee Titans OL Isaiah Prince and OL Arlington Hambright were waived on Tuesday, April 29.
Link to storyTennessee Titans QB Cam Ward won't be handed the starting job, despite being the No. 1 overall pick, according to general manager Mike Borgonzi on Monday, April 28. 'Yeah, it's a great room we have right now with those four guys,' Borgonzi said about QBs Will Levis, Brandon Allen, Tim Boyle, and Ward. 'And that'll be up to Brian [Callahan] and his staff in terms of reps as we go through the offseason and get into training camp. But, we'll take it step-by-step here. And that'll be up to Brian in terms of who takes what reps at some point. So, we're not going to name any starters here, though, right now here in the offseason.'
Footballguys view: While their public stance makes sense, all signs point to Ward taking the reins as the Titans' franchise quarterback of the future. Levis went 2-10 during his 12 starts last season, finishing with 2,091 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. Realistically, given those numbers, investing the first pick overall in Ward suggests the outcome is a foregone conclusion. Ward is QB26 on the current Footballguys 2025 Projections. |
Tennessee Titans QB Will Levis wasn't shopped during the 2025 NFL Draft, general manager Mike Borgonzi said on Monday, April 28. He went on to praise Levis for raising the level of competition, stating the QB adds value to the franchise.
Footballguys view: With the selection of Cam Ward, Tennessee now has the rookie, Levis, Brandon Allen, and Tim Boyle at quarterback on their 90-man roster. "Yeah, it's a great room we have right now with those four guys," Borgonzi said. "And that'll be up to Brian [Callahan] and his staff in terms of reps as we go through the offseason and get into training camp. But, we'll take it step-by-step here. And that'll be up to Brian in terms of who takes what reps at some point." Despite Borgonzi's comments, Ward is fully expected to be a Day 1 starter in Tennessee. Any other outcome will be a surprise. |

Free-agent WR Tyler Lockett (Seahawks) officially signed a one-year contract worth a reported $4 million with the Tennessee Titans on Monday, April 28. The deal is reportedly worth up to $6 million with incentives.
Footballguys view: Lockett joins the Titans after spending the past 10 seasons with the Seahawks, where he ranks second in team history in receptions (661), receiving yards (8,594), and receiving touchdowns (61). Lockett, who turns 33 in September, will be part of a revamped receiving corps with the Titans. Over the weekend, the Titans drafted receivers Chimere Dike (Florida) and Elic Ayomanor (Stanford) in the fourth round of the NFL Draft. Back in March, the team signed veteran receiver Van Jefferson in free agency. Those players will join returners Calvin Ridley, Treylon Burks, Mason Kinsey, Bryce Oliver, Jha'Quan Jackson, Colton Dowell, James Proche II, and Tay Martin. |
