Footballguys view: This is an uptick for Courtland Sutton and Bo Nix's matchup. Ward is the best outside corner on the Colts roster after they signed him away from the 49ers on a three-year, $54 million deal. |

Indianapolis Colts WR Michael Pittman Jr. (glute) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 11.
Footballguys view: The Colts scored on every drive against the Dolphins in Week 1. That's not going to happen against the Broncos defense in Week 2. With Pittman drawing DPOY Pat Surtain for most of this contest, we can only recommend him as a flex play. |
Indianapolis Colts WR Alec Pierce (knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 11.

Indianapolis Colts WR Michael Pittman Jr. (glute) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 10.
Footballguys view: Pittman gets Broncos CB Pat Surtain this week....good luck starting him. Daniel Jones looked great against a terrible Dolphins team. It's a fun matchup for the Colts at home against arguably the league's best defense (Denver) in Week 2. |
Indianapolis Colts WR Alec Pierce (knee) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 10.

Indianapolis Colts WR Ashton Dulin was not targeted in the passing game in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins, but he had one run for 15 yards on his only offensive touch.

Indianapolis Colts WR Josh Downs posted two receptions for 12 yards on three targets in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins.
Footballguys view: The Colts passing game was reborn with Daniel Jones, but Downs was not one of the beneficiaries. With a tough matchup against the Broncos next week, Downs is a tough hold in short bench leagues. A hamstring injury from camp could also have contributed to his low production, but it is questionable whether Jones can support more than two fantasy options, and those will be Michael Pittman Jr. and Tyler Warren. |

Indianapolis Colts WR Adonai Mitchell absorbed both of his targets for 21 receiving yards in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins.
Link to storyIndianapolis Colts WR Alec Pierce had a single 36-yard reception on three targets in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins.
Link to storyIndianapolis Colts TE Tyler Warren gathered seven receptions for 76 yards on a game-high nine targets in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins in his NFL debut.
Footballguys view: The word has been that the Colts love Warren and want to feature him in the passing game from the moment they drafted him at #14, and so this wasn't that surprising. Daniel Jones playing well and the Dolphins defense (really entire team) being that bad was a bit out of the range of expectations. Warren will have a tougher matchup against the Broncos next week, but he should be projected as a fantasy TE1 going forward. |
Indianapolis Colts WR Michael Pittman Jr. totaled six receptions for 80 yards and a touchdown on eight targets in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins.
Footballguys view: Once upon a time, Pittman was seen as a young #1 receiver on the rise. Anthony Richardson's play and a back injury torpedoed his value last year, but perhaps Daniel Jones will be able to remind us of what we once saw in Pittman for fantasy. The matchup is much tougher against Denver next week. If Pittman can put up a good line and Jones a good game against them, it's time to get excited. |
Indianapolis Colts RB DJ Giddens rushed 12 times for 41 yards in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins, and he was not targeted in the passing game.
Link to storyIndianapolis Colts RB Jonathan Taylor rushed 18 times for 71 yards in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins, while adding three receptions for 27 yards on three targets.
Footballguys view: DJ Giddens got 12 carries, but Taylor was the clear lead back. The fifth round rookie only got that many touches because this game was out of hand well before the clock read 00:00. If Daniel Jones can continue to play well against a much tougher Broncos defense next week, we should feel better about Taylor, although it keeps in play the possibility of Jones vulturing goal line scores, like he did twice today. |

Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones completed 22-of-29 passes for 272 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins, while adding seven runs for 26 yards and a pair of scores.
Footballguys view: Jones was the biggest surprise of Week 1, but we may look back and say this was more about Dolphins defensive ineptitude than a Jones renaissance. While he should be added on the waiver wire, Jones should not be in lineups because of the Broncos matchup next week. If he looks good against Broncos, then it is time to make a major adjustment to expectations. |

Link to storyThe Colts elected to select Daniel Jones over Anthony Richardson to be their starting quarterback in 2025, putting into question Richardson's future with the organization. Given that, head coach Shane Steichen was asked during his Monday press conference if Richardson had expressed any doubts about his place within the franchise. "Yeah, I mean, I've had conversations with him," Steichen said. "Obviously, he's our backup quarterback right now. [He's] still attacking it the right way, coming in, being a pro, getting in here early, taking care of his body, rehabbing, treatment. And in the QB room, [he's] preparing like he's the starter."
Footballguys view: As PFT's Myles Simmons suggests, while Steichen noted Jones is set to be the starter for the entire 2025 season, odds are that Richardson will get a shot to play at some point in the year. Jones has never started every game of a season, though he did help lead the Giants to the postseason in 2022 with a career-high 16 starts. We'll see if Richardson is ready for whatever opportunity he gets if and when it comes. |

Indianapolis Colts WR Josh Downs (hamstring) is expected to return to practice next week, according to head coach Shane Steichen.
Footballguys view: James Boyd, who covers the Colts for The Athletic, told us last week that he expects Downs to be the third-most targeted receiving asset in Indy behind Tyler Warren and Michael Pittman Jr. Interesting that the rookie tight end is first on this list, but that's perhaps more a reflection of the quarterback situation than anything. We'll follow up on Downs' progress next week. |
