Los Angeles Chargers RB Najee Harris (eye) was limited to 12 offensive snaps in the Week 1 game, but head coach Jim Harbaugh said Harris could receive more work in Week 2.
Footballguys view: After he was limited to two touches -- one carry and one reception, good for five yards each -- last Friday, it's reasonable to believe Harris' workload will ramp up. Even assuming first-round rookie Omarion Hampton continues to lead the team in carries, more work for Harris makes sense. The former Steeler missed almost all of training camp and the entire preseason with an eye injury. So even if he sees the field more in Week 2, fantasy investors should expect the increase in playing time to be gradual over the next few weeks. |

Los Angeles Chargers RB Najee Harris (eye) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 4, and is not on the injury report for Week 1. The Chargers did not hold a practice Thursday, so this is an estimation.
Footballguys view: The Chargers are taking on the Chiefs in Brazil on Friday night. We're curious to see how they use both Harris and rookie first-round pick Omarion Hampton in what should be a run-heavy offense. In Week 1, consider Hampton an RB2/flex play and Harris is a deep flex play. |

Los Angeles Chargers RB Omarion Hampton could be 'a very productive workhorse,' in the opinion of The Athletic's Daniel Popper, who writes that Hampton is the 'complete package' as a runner, and with questions surrounding how much RB Najee Harris (eye) can contribute, Popper believes that the Chargers will 'feed' Hampton a lot of touches.
Footballguys view: Popper believes that role will be sufficient for Hampton to be among the league leaders in rushing yards this season. While that's not out of the question, it won't be easy. As SI.com's Mike Moraitis notes, there is no telling how well Hampton will acclimate to the NFL in his first season. Even the slightest issue with that will cause him to fall short of this prediction. Adding to that, Najee Harris figures to see ample action, which could significantly cut into Hampton's snaps, making it even more difficult for him to finish as a top-five rusher. |
Los Angeles Chargers RB Najee Harris (eye) said he expects to be available for the Week 1 game.
Footballguys view: "I'm ramping up to it," he told The Athletic's Daniel Popper. Harris did not want to get into any details on what happened in the fireworks accident, but he said his vision has not been affected and called the eye injury "superficial." We'll be watching for more on Harris' progress as Friday's kickoff in Brazil draws nearer. What we know now, however, is that Harris is eager to hit the field. Having Harris and first-round pick Omarion Hampton in the backfield could help keep the Chiefs' offense off the field as much as possible. |

Los Angeles Chargers RB Najee Harris (eye) has a chance to play in the Week 1 game, according to head coach Jim Harbaugh.
Footballguys view: This has to be viewed as a best-case scenario for Harris. As SI.com suggested, it's a mild surprise he could even be available after his limited showings in training camp in the wake of an eye injury suffered during a fireworks accident. As such, one would think he's behind first-rounder Omarion Hampton in the rotation for now. We'll continue to watch his progress in advance of Friday's game against the Chiefs in Brazil. |

Los Angeles Chargers WR Quentin Johnston (head) has cleared the concussion protocol, according to head coach Jim Harbaugh.
Footballguys view: As SI.com reminded readers, Johnston was on the wrong end of a nasty hit in the preseason that caused the NFL to fine the defender. He's in the mix with Ladd McConkey and Keenan Allen for a starter's share of the snaps on Friday, though rookies Tre Harris and KeAndre Lambert-Smith still have upside. |

The Chargers are moving RB Najee Harris to the active roster from the non-football injury list, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.
Footballguys view: Harris is recovering from injuries, facial and otherwise, sustained in a fireworks accident, but has been working and getting ready. This development is an indication he's getting close. Remember, Chargers general manager Joe Hortiz told reporters over the weekend that Harris could be available for the team's Week 1 game against the Chiefs in Brazil. We know the plan is for somebody to share the workload with rookie Omarion Hampton, and Harris will be that somebody once he's up to speed. |

Link to storyLos Angeles Chargers WR Brenden Rice was waived Monday, Aug. 25, according to a source.
Link to storyLos Angeles Chargers general manager Joe Hortiz is optimistic that RB Najee Harris (eye) will be ready to play in Week 1's game versus the Kansas City Chiefs.
Footballguys view: Harris's eye injury has been surrounded by mystery. This is the first truly positive update we have gotten, as Jim Harbaugh was disturbingly vague when asked about Harris during camp. If Harris is ready for Week 1, that's going to make it harder for Omarion Hampton to have a big instant impact in fantasy leagues. Harris should stay in the back half of drafts, as he'll only have significant value if Hampton gets hurt. |

Los Angeles Chargers WR Quentin Johnston (concussion) is in concussion protocol, according to ESPN.com's Kris Rhim. Head coach Jim Harbaugh had no update on his status for Week 1.
Footballguys view: Johnston has two weeks to recover before the season opener against the Chiefs. If he's not ready for the game - which is on a Friday in Brazil - then Keenan Allen could be on the field enough to consider playing in deep PPR leagues. |

Los Angeles Chargers WR Tre Harris (undisclosed) is not expected to practice Thursday, Aug. 21, after leaving the last practice because of tightness, according to head coach Jim Harbaugh.
Link to storyLos Angeles Chargers RB Najee Harris (eye) has no timetable set for his return. When asked about a return date on Thursday, Aug. 21, head coach Jim Harbaugh said, 'When Najee's ready to play, he'll be ready to play.'
Footballguys view: Harris will be ready when he's ready...which means what? We'll just have to wait and see what his availability is during the week of practice before Week 1. Harris will split time with rookie first-round pick Omarion Hampton. |

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Chargers WR Quentin Johnston (concussion) sustained a concussion on a big hit during the third play of the preseason game versus the Los Angeles Rams Saturday, Aug. 16. According to head coach Jim Harbaugh, Johnston remembered the play and was able to stand under his own power before walking over to the cart that removed him from the field. He was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.

Los Angeles Chargers WR Quentin Johnston (neck) was down on the field for several minutes after taking a big hit during the preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams Saturday, Aug. 16. Johnston was eventually able to stand before being carted off.
Footballguys view: Johnston was on the field ahead of rookies Tre Harris and Keandre Lambert-Smith, and was the #2 receiver, with Keenan Allen operating as the #3. This was reported later as a concussion. We'll be monitoring for updates, but know that if healthy, Johnston is still in a big role in this passing game. |
