Tampa Bay Buccaneers OT Tristan Wirfs (knee) will not be available for the Week 2 game, according to head coach Todd Bowles.
Link to storyTampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (ankle) has been ruled out of the Week 2 game, according to head coach Todd Bowles.
Footballguys view: The reports about Godwin getting out there in Week 2 did seem a bit outlandish. When things were initially reported on this injury, many felt Godwin would be out until Week 5 or Week 6. It's good to see that he may be closer to a return, but it's not happening on Monday night against the Texans. |

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (foot), OT Luke Goedeke (foot), and WR Mike Evans (rest) did not practice on Friday, Sept. 12. DL Greg Gaines (ankle), TE Ko Kieft (head), OT Tristan Wirfs (knee) were limited in practice. S Christian Izien (oblique), CB Zyon McCollum (neck, shoulder), CB Benjamin Morrison (quad), and LB Haason Reddick (quad) practiced in full on Friday.
Footballguys view: The Bucs are already likely to be without their left tackle, Wirfs. If their right tackle, Goedeke is also out, the Texans pass rush will be tough to slow down on Monday night. Don't expect a ceiling game from Baker Mayfield this week. |

Link to storyTampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (ankle) may be available to play in Week 2 depending on how he feels after practicing this week, according to head coach Todd Bowles.
Footballguys view: This is a bit surprising given most expected Godwin to be out until Week 5 or Week 6. Godwin just got back to practice, and it seems a bit 'pie in the sky' to expect him back in Week 2. Anything can happen, so stay tuned for Friday's report and more information. |

Link to storyTampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (ankle) is expected to practice in limited fashion Thursday, Sept. 11.
Footballguys view: Godwin is expected to return sometime in October, either Week 5 or Week 6. The Buccaneers are just getting him warmed up as he gets back in football shape. |

Tampa Bay Buccaneers CB Jamel Dean agreed to a significant pay cut prior to the regular-season opener to remain with the team this season. He was set to make $12.5 million in 2025, but the team was able to reduce his salary to $4.25 million for 2025. He could earn as much as $750,000 in playing-time incentives.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Emeka Egbuka posted four receptions for 67 yards and two touchdowns on six targets in Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons.
Footballguys view: Egbuka caught the game-winning score and lived up to expectations that were shot sky high after a summer that left everyone around the Bucs raving about the first round pick already looking like a professional. Egbuka should be in your Week 2 lineup despite the tough matchup against the Texans next week. |
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Rachaad White ran twice for 14 yards in Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons, while adding a 2-yard catch on a single target.
Link to storyTampa Bay Buccaneers RB Bucky Irving ran 14 times for just 37 yards in Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons, and he had four receptions for eight yards and a touchdown.
Footballguys view: Irving dove for the pylon for a score to salvage a decent fantasy day against a strong Falcons run defense. It wasn't the level of production you were hoping for when you drafted him, but the Bucs offense should get better as the year goes on, starting out with two pieces hurt before Week 1. |
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield completed 17-of-32 passes for 167 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons, and he ran five times for a team-high 39 yards.
Footballguys view: Mayfield didn't have a smooth day with his left tackle and slot receiver out, but he scraped out three scores and added some rushing yards to put up a big fantasy day anyway. He'll face a tough Houston defense next week, but you should feel good after drafting Mayfield after this clutch performance. |

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (ankle) recently underwent a second surgery on his ankle to tighten up hardware, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Judy Battista. He is expected to resume practicing soon and is targeting a return to action in Week 5, although a Week 6 or 7 return would not be out of the question, according to multiple sources.
Footballguys view: This was expected even though the Bucs did not put Godwin on IR-return to start the season. They knew he could miss the first four games, but wanted Godwin to be able to practice with the team. Emeka Egbuka should have a long runway to begin his NFL career with a very productive stretch. |

Link to storyTampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (ankle), S Christian Izien (oblique), and OT Tristan Wirfs (knee) did not practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons. CB Benjamin Morrison (quad) was limited all week and has been ruled out. DL Vita Vea (foot) practiced in full on Friday and is listed as questionable. LB Lavonte David (rest) did not practice on Friday but is expected to play. CB Josh Hayes (ankle), TE Cade Otton (groin), LB Haason Reddick (personal), RB Sean Tucker (hand), and WR Mike Evans (rest) practiced in full on Friday and no longer appear on the injury report.
Footballguys view: Vea is a key part of the Bucs run defense. If he is inactive or not himself on Sunday, that will help Bijan Robinson in a tough matchup. |

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cade Otton (groin) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 4.
Footballguys view: This is a positive note for the Buccaneers. Otton has been battling this groin injury, but a full participation on Thursday is a great sign for his availability. We see Otton as a TE2 with upside this season. |

Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers OT Luke Goedeke agreed to a four-year, $90 million contract extension Tuesday, Sept. 2, with $50 million guaranteed.
Link to storyTampa Bay Buccaneers OT Luke Goedeke signed a four-year contract extension Tuesday, Sept. 2. Financial terms of the deal were undisclosed.
Link to storyTampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cade Otton (leg) participated in practice Monday, Sept. 1.
Footballguys view: While we don't yet know what Otton's level of participation was today, the fact that he was on the field at all is a positive after we heard last week that this injury could sideline the veteran tight end for Sunday's regular-season opener on the road against Atlanta. As CBSSports.com noted, Wednesday's first official practice report of the week will officially disclose Otton's activity level as the weekend draws near. Stay tuned for more. |
Tampa Bay Buccaneers OT Charlie Heck will start at left tackle until OT Tristan Wirfs (knee) is able to return to the lineup. Wirfs is expected to return at some point in September.
Footballguys view: Expect the Bucs to keep a tight end in to help Heck at times. Cade Otton is probably going to miss at least Week 1 with a hamstring injury, so the team will call on Payne Durham, Ko Kieft, and Devin Culp to play larger roles than usual. The offense won't be top form without Wirfs and Godwin against the Falcons to open the season, but the matchup is still favorable for Baker Mayfield and company. |
Tampa Bay Buccaneers TEs Devin Culp, Payne Durham and Ko Kieft might be thrust into bigger roles in Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons if TE Cade Otton (leg) is unable to go. It's uncertain which player would be tabbed to start, although Kieft probably has the most experience in the system, while Durham is seen as the best blocker of the triumvirate.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (ankle) will miss the first month of the season and possibly more, general manager Jason Licht announced on Thursday, Aug. 28.
Footballguys view: Godwin will miss at least the first month of the season, so it could be more than just four weeks. While Godwin is out, rookie WR Emeka Egbuka will be tasked with doing more opposite Mike Evans. Once Godwin returns (and perhaps takes some time to shake off the rust), he should perform like a WR3/flex play. |

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers re-signed free agents QB Connor Bazelak, WRs Garrett Greene and Dennis Houston, and TE Tanner Taula to the practice squad on Wednesday, Aug. 27.
Link to storyTampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cade Otton (leg) is dealing with a different leg injury than the hamstring issue he dealt with earlier in camp, and his status for Week 1 is in question, according to head coach Todd Bowles.
Footballguys view: If Otton has to miss time, the Buccaneers will turn to Payne Durham in his place. We were interested in Otton this season, especially early on with Chris Godwin and Jalen McMillan missing time. |
Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (ankle) passed his physical on Tuesday, Aug. 26. The team is still expected to take it slowly with him, and he might not practice until Week 2.
