Texans | Joe Mixon consistent in 2024 Tue Jul 1, 12:23 AM
Houston Texans RB Joe Mixon rushed for 503 yards and five touchdowns during the first half of the 2024 season and rushed for 513 yards and six touchdowns during the second half of the season.
Footballguys view: Mixon's 1,016 rushing yards were his fourth time crossing the 1,000-yard mark, though they were the fewest of those instances. His 4.1 yards per carry were a step up from the season prior, and he added another 309 yards on 36 receptions. His 11 touchdowns were the second-most in his career. Still, with Mixon's age (he'll turn 29 this month) and previous workload, the Texans could mix in other backs -- including the recently signed Nick Chubb -- to keep the veteran fresh. Mixon, who was RB10 last year. He is being drafted as RB19 in early Round 5. |
Joe Mixon player page
Carolina Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard rushed for 803 yards and seven touchdowns on first down during the 2024 season.
Footballguys view: Hubbard proved to be a perfect fit for Dave Canales' offense. He set career highs in rushing attempts (250), rushing yards (1,195), rushing touchdowns (10), and receptions (43) while recording 171 receiving yards and an additional touchdown in his 15 starts. Hubbard, who finished 2024 as RB15 in total points (and RB13 in points per game), is being drafted as RB18 in Round 4 this year. |
Chuba Hubbard player page
New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara rushed for 505 yards and six touchdowns in the first eight games of the 2024 season but posted 445 yards and zero rushing touchdowns during the second half of the season. He did catch 28 passes for 236 yards and one touchdown during the second half.
Footballguys view: Kamara also set a career-high in rushing last year and had his best season in terms of yards per carry since 2020. He caught 68 passes and had almost 1,500 total yards. New coach Kellen Moore has discussed wanting to center the Saints' offense around Kamara in 2025, which could help ease the burden on rookie QB Tyler Shough, who is expected to win the starting job. Kamara, who finished last season as RB5, is projected to finish as RB14. He's currently being drafted as RB16 in Round 5. |
Alvin Kamara player page
New England Patriots RB Antonio Gibson appears to be in line for the No. 3 role in the backfield, in the opinion of ESPN's Mike Reiss.
Footballguys view: Gibson ran the ball 120 times for the Patriots last season, but he only wound up with 538 yards and a touchdown. As MSN.com noted, although he made three starts, Gibson never seemed to be on the verge of overtaking Stevenson, and now, with the addition of rookie TreyVeon Henderson, is another rung down the ladder. |
Antonio Gibson player page
Baltimore Ravens RB Derrick Henry rushed for 1,119 yards and eight touchdowns during the second half of games last season. He rushed for 740 yards and eight touchdowns in the first half.
Footballguys view: Defenses get weary dealing with Henry, Lamar Jackson, and a multi-faceted, ultraefficient passing game. The Ravens offense could even better this year with a line that will have four returning starters, three of which are still on their rookie contracts. Henry finished as RB4 in PPR leagues last year, a hair behind Bijan Robinson, but is going at RB5 and 11 overall in the latest Footballguys ADP. |
Derrick Henry player page
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Bucky Irving scored all eight of his rushing touchdowns in the red zone this past season.
Footballguys view: Irving is not a big back, but his combination of vision, decisiveness, contact balance, and agility make him a great back in close quarters nonetheless. He was a fantasy RB1 once the Bucs put him atop the depth chart, and both Irving and the offense can be better in 2025. There's still potential for Irving to surpass his current Footballguys ADP of RB9 and 21 overall. |
New York Jets RB Breece Hall was reassured earlier this offseason by head coach Aaron Glenn that the team is not looking to trade him, even though he is entering the final season of his rookie contract.
Footballguys view: Hall is a talented runner, and he's set to be the lead back for the Jets this year. Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis are there to complement him in the backfield, and the Jets will use them behind Hall. In addition to what he can do on the ground, Hall is a good receiving option out of the backfield. His workload and three-down skill set makes him an RB2 with upside. |
Philadelphia Eagles RB Will Shipley is expected to be the primary pass catcher out of the backfield for the Eagles this upcoming season.
Footballguys view: Shipley will take the role Kenneth Gainwell had last year if he can beat out AJ Dillon for the no.2 spot on the depth chart. The Eagles let Gainwell (Steelers) walk in free agency, and now Shipley will be the primary back who gives Saquon Barkley a breather. In that role, we could see Shipley getting around 100 carries and 15-20 catches on the season. If Barkley were to miss time, Shipley would step into a larger and much more fantasy-relevant role. |
Denver Broncos RB J.K. Dobbins' workload remains to be seen, according to head coach Sean Payton. 'Don't try to figure out the club right now,' Payton said. 'It's way too early.'
Footballguys view: This is a situation to monitor during training camp and the preseason. Dobbins will split time with rookie second-round pick RJ Harvey in the Broncos backfield. Who is the lead back? That's uncertain right now, but we could see Dobbins getting a majority of the work early in the season. As Harvey proves himself in pass protection, the electric rookie back could shoulder more of the load. This is a two-headed RBBC where value could vary as the season goes on, plus Dobbins has missed more games than he's played in his pro career. At this time, both backs are flex plays with upside in a Sean Payton offense as he looks for his new Mark Ingram/Alvin Kamara combination. |
J.K. Dobbins player page
New York Giants RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. said he is hoping to rush for 1,500 yards this upcoming season.
Footballguys view: Tracy will have to hold onto the ball after fumble problems derailed an otherwise very successful rookie year that saw Tracy overtake Devin Singletary in the Giants backfield. The team drafted Cam Skattebo in the fourth round, who could be a strong alternative if Tracy has another bout of fumblitis. Skattebo has had fumble issues of his own in college, so there's a wide range of outcomes of how this backfield will shake out. The relatively low current ADP of both Tracy and Skattebo in the 8th-9th round range accurately reflects the uncertainty. |
Cleveland Browns RB Dylan Sampson worked as both a running back and a receiver during minicamp, according to running backs coach Duce Staley. 'Dylan is able to go play in the slot and also he's able to go and play on third down and maybe sprinkle in a little second down,' Staley said.
Footballguys view: The Browns have Jerome Ford and Pierre Strong returning from last year's team, but Sampson could have more to offer the offense if he shows he is ready for passing down responsibilities. He's a true change of pace from the presumed starter Quinshon Judkins, who was taken with the 36th pick in April. Sampson probably doesn't have much value in redraft leagues this year, but if he can get on the field ahead of Ford and Strong, it will be a great sign for his lasting value in dynasty leagues. |
Cleveland Browns RB Jerome Ford will be a 'nice complement' to RB Quinshon Judkins and RB Dylan Sampson, according to Dan Labbe of The Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Footballguys view: Ford took a pay cut to $1.75 million, about half of what he was originally due on the last year of his rookie contract after a performance-based escalator kicked in. That lower number is fully guaranteed, so Ford is very likely to make the team and have a change of pace and passing down role. He probably won't matter to us in redraft leagues unless Judkins goes down. |
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Travis Etienne is expected to remain the team's top running back, according to Demetrius Harvey of of Jacksonville.com.
Footballguys view: Harvey also wrote that we shouldn't be surprised if Etienne "takes a bit of a backseat as a rusher as the team's running game and his receiving ability evolve". There has been talk that Etienne will be used more in space, which suits his skillset and traits better than running between the tackles. Etienne plummeting out of the top 100 overall in the latest Footballguys ADP may be an overreaction, but if this is a committee that includes roles for Tank Bigbsy and fourth round pick Bhayshul Tuten, it's also possible that no Jaguars running back will be consistent this season. |
Travis Etienne Jr. player page
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Bhayshul Tuten agreed to a four-year rookie contract, according to sources Tuesday, June 24.
Footballguys view: The Jaguars' backfield is one of the toughest to project. Tuten is the lone back selected by the new regime and brings off-the-charts athleticism and a fumbling issue. Travis Etienne is a former first-round pick with a dual-threat skill set as a rusher and receiver. And Tank Bigsby, who had a quiet rookie season, stepped up in Year 2. HC Liam Coen deployed a rotational committee last year in Tampa Bay. And that tendency could make for a frustrating situation in Jacksonville this year. |
Philadelphia Eagles RB Will Shipley 'offers the dynamic qualities that ideally complement (Saquon) Barkley' and 'should add a nice flair to a new-look Eagles offense,' according to Andrew DiCecco of Inside The Birds.
Footballguys view: Shipley was a pass-catching machine in college and could be helpful in a similar role in the NFL. With recently-acquired AJ Dillon now in Philadelphia as well, their fundamentally different skill sets allow the staff to lean on each of their strengths. Tying this in with reports that the Eagles want to lessen Barkley's load, Shipley should start to creep up draft boards. |
Philadelphia Eagles RB P Saquon Barkley has been calculated when balancing training and recovery this offseason, ensuring he's as fresh as possible when players report to training camp. However, multiple players publicly expressed the need for the offense to evolve from last year's run-heavy attack, according to Andrew DiCecco of Inside The Birds.
Footballguys view: Recovery only becomes more critical as we age. And Barkley, coming off 482 touches and heading into his age-28 season, knows that. The Eagles can spend all offseason talking about their plans. But when the games kick off, they'll likely lean on their superstar running back the same way they did last year. |
Saquon Barkley player page
Washington Commanders RB Austin Ekeler could be a cut candidate after the team selected RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt in the seventh round. The team would gain over $3.4 million in cap savings with a $1.5 million hit in dead money by releasing Ekeler.
Footballguys view: Ekeler was decent as a pass catcher last year. And no other running back on the depth chart specializes in that role the way he does. While this would come as a bit of a surprise, there are a lot of RB-needy teams out there who would be quick to sign Ekeler. |
Austin Ekeler player page
New York Giants RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. has been working out with Philadelphia Eagles RB Saquon Barkley this offseason.
Footballguys view: Tracy and Barkley share a few things in common: playing running back, being drafted by the Giants, and having off-the-charts athleticism. Tracy's biggest struggles last year involved his hands, as he often fumbled and dropped passes. Tracy will likely get first crack at the job in camp. But with rookie Cam Skattebo now in the picture, the coaching staff likely won't have the same tolerance for those mistakes. |
Philadelphia Eagles RB Will Shipley and RB AJ Dillon likely will compete for the No. 2 running back job during training camp, in the opinion of EaglesWire's Glenn Erby.
Footballguys view: Shipley didn't do much last year as Saquon Barkley handled the lion's share of the touches. Dillon played a role as backup during his entire rookie deal with the Packers. They bring vastly different skill sets to the table. And if Barkley were to miss any time, Dillon would likely assume early-down work with Shipley spelling him on passing downs. |
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Tank Bigsby's role and playing time probably will be decided during training camp, in the opinion of JaguarsWire's Paul Bretl.
Footballguys view: No one knows how the workload will be split up between Bigsby, Travis Etienne, and rookie Bhayshul Tuten. New HC Liam Coen took a hot-hand approach last year in Tampa Bay, providing touches for Rachaad White, Bucky Irving, and Sean Tucker. While it works on the field, it's frustrating for fantasy managers. We'll hope for a clearer picture as we get deeper into camp. |
Tank Bigsby player page
Denver Broncos RB Audric Estime is expected to compete for the No. 3 role behind rookie RJ Harvey and veteran J.K. Dobbins, in the opinion of Broncos Wire's Jon Heath.
Footballguys view: Estime brings a different skill set to the table than Jaleel McLaughlin, likely the other back fighting for the RB3 role. Realistically, it's hard to imagine any having value behind Harvey and Dobbins. However, Estime and McLaughlin are both worth late-round draft picks, as an injury to a teammate could open the door for more opportunities. |
Dallas Cowboys RB Javonte Williams is expected to get the first crack at being the starter, in the opinion of Cowboys Wire's Mike Crum.
Footballguys view: Williams sits alongside Miles Sanders and rookie Jaydon Blue in a crowded and ambiguous running back room in Dallas. Still just 25 years old and multiple years removed from his devastating knee injury, Williams has the highest upside of the bunch. But unless he runs away with the job, drafters could be in for a frustratingly unpredictable committee this year. |
Javonte Williams player page
Denver Broncos RB RJ Harvey is 'doing well' in the receiving role, head coach Sean Payton told reporters Sunday, June 22. 'He's doing well. We haven't given him his Joker wings or any of that yet, but he's doing well,' Payton said.
Footballguys view: One of the few flaws on Harvey's profile was his ability as a pass-blocker. And to take the vaunted role as a pass-catching back for Sean Payton, he'll need to tighten that up. But Harvey has breakaway speed that no other backs in Denver possess. The allure of his athleticism in a pass-catching role makes him a worthy rookie to target early in drafts. |
Atlanta Falcons RB Tyler Allgeier posted 410 yards of his 644 rushing yards during the second half of games last season.
Footballguys view: When the Falcons want to run out the clock, they turn the keys over to Allgeier, their battering ram of a back. After rushing for 1,035 yards as a rookie, he's taken a backseat to Bijan Robinson since. But playing in a relatively soft division, Michael Penix Jr. hopes to elevate the offense. And Allgeier could be afforded more opportunities to run wild in the second half of games. While the best-case scenario is a matchup-dependent flex spot alongside Robinson, the contingent upside in case of an injury makes him a desirable target in fantasy drafts. |
Tennessee Titans RB Tyjae Spears has had a strong offseason, according to head coach Brian Callahan. 'I'm really excited to see what he can bring to us this year,' Callahan said.
Footballguys view: Spears has to compete for touches in the backfield with Tony Pollard, so let's be cautious with using 'big year' and the young runner in the same sentence. We appreciate his game, and Spears can work well as a runner or receiver out of the backfield. We also recognize how a rushing quarterback (Cam Ward) can open things up for the runners like Spears. However, the Titans offense isn't one we're investing heavily in this offseason. If he does play up to his potential, Spears is a flex play for Fantasy GMs in PPR formats. |
Tyjae Spears player page
New York Giants RB Cam Skattebo (undisclosed) missed a good amount of time this offseason because of an undisclosed injury but is not believed to be dealing with anything serious.
Footballguys view: While it's good that it's believed to be nothing serious, missing valuable offseason reps can often be a tough hurdle for rookies to clear. We'll monitor Skattebo's situation when rookies report to Giants' training camp on July 15th. |
New Orleans Saints RB Xazavian Valladay was waived on Friday, June 20.

Las Vegas Raiders RB Raheem Mostert will be the RB2 for the team that will spell RB Ashton Jeanty, in the opinion of SI.com's Hondo Carpenter.
Footballguys view: The incumbent running backs, Sincere McCormick and Zamir White, didn't do much last year. Pete Carroll and Chip Kelly were quick to address the positional weakness by signing Mostert in free agency. And they made an even bigger splash by drafting Jeanty sixth overall. It was expected that Mostert would be the team's RB2, even before this official report. But the staff's history of leaning on one back, coupled with Jeanty's flawless profile, likely means that Mostert would need an injury ahead of him to see meaningful snaps. |
Raheem Mostert player page
Updating a previous report, Houston Texans RB Joe Mixon (foot, ankle) should be ready to participate in training camp 'at some point,' although it may not be the first day or so of practice, according to KPRC's Aaron Wilson.
Footballguys view: Mixon has consistently dealt with foot and ankle injuries throughout his career, even as recently as last season. A Week 2 hip drop tackle caused an ankle sprain that forced him to miss the next three weeks. He was limited in practice for the majority of the rest of the season, but suited up every week after his return. Mixon is a hard-nosed veteran with a history of playing through injuries. He's returning to an offense in which he found success last year. Barring news of a setback, there should be little concern about his 2025 outlook. |
Joe Mixon player page
Pittsburgh Steelers RB Jonathan Ward was released on Thursday, June 19.
Footballguys view: Ward has less than 100 yards rushing in his career over the last five seasons. He's mainly a special teams player, and that might land him on a roster during training camp and the preseason. |
Jonathan Ward player page
New England Patriots RB TreVeyon Henderson is a 'home run threat every time he touches the ball' and offers 'a dynamic New England just hasn't had' in recent years, in the opinion of The Athletic's Chad Graff, who writes that the expectation is that Henderson will split carries with RB Rhamondre Stevenson this season.
Footballguys view: Henderson is a player who has some Christian McCaffrey to his game. Like McCaffrey, Henderson is a threat to score anytime he touches the ball as a runner or receiver out of the backfield. He'll work this season in tandem with power back Rhamondre Stevenson, but Henderson could push for 800 yards on the ground with 30-35 receptions as a rookie. That makes him a low-end RB2 or flex option for Fantasy GMs in PPR leagues. |
Denver Broncos RB Blake Watson (undisclosed) missed some time this offseason because of an undisclosed injury but is expected to be ready for the start of training camp.
Link to storyTennessee Titans RB Kalel Mullings (abdomen) was limited this offseason because of an abdomen injury, but running backs Randy Jordan said Mullings was impressive in the classroom.
Footballguys view: The Titans talked openly about adding a physical, downhill runner to their stable early in the offseason and followed that by selecting Mullings in the draft. Mullings plays with a physicality that Tennessee lacked and could be a perfect power complement to Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears in the backfield. We'll be watching for signs that the rookie's role is developing as training camp unfolds. |
New York Giants fourth-round draft choice RB Cam Skattebo agreed to terms on a four-year contract with the Giants Wednesday, June 18, according to sources. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Upon arrival, Skattebo was viewed as an ideal complement to Tyrone Tracy Jr., who finished his rookie campaign last year as the Giants' lead back. While he's a tough runner, NorthJersey.com's Art Stapleton contends the newcomer's value as a receiver has been overlooked throughout the pre-draft evaluation process. Stapleton further believes the more opportunities Skattebo gets this summer, the more likely he'll get an immediate role in the backfield with Tracy and veteran Devin Singletary. It's worth noting that Tracy has an early average draft position of RB31; Skattebo is already RB33. They're going in Rounds 8 and 9, respectively. |
Los Angeles Rams RB Kyren Williams is still making progress on a new contract with the team, but there's still no timetable for when that deal may take place, head coach Sean McVay said Tuesday, June 17.
Footballguys view: As SI.com recently suggested, Williams might need another big season for him to earn a big payday. His numbers have increased each season, and it wouldn't be entirely shocking if he were to do so again. A strong season could give Williams a contract in the $10 million average annual value range, putting him among the highest-paid running backs in the NFL. For fantasy investors, Williams making good on his Footballguys 2025 Projection -- RB8 -- would be great since he's being drafted as RB12 in the third round of early drafts. |
Free-agent RB Jashaun Corbin (UFL) signed an undisclosed contract with the Atlanta Falcons on Tuesday, June 17. The Falcons released RB Jase McClellan to make room for him on the roster.
Link to storyUpdating a previous report, free-agent RB Cam Akers (Vikings) signed a one-year contract with the New Orleans Saints Friday, June 13. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Akers will be competing to back up Alvin Kamara. This is not a sign of confidence in the backs the team currently has on the roster behind Kamara, most notably Kendre Miller, who was in the doghouse during the Dennis Allen era. |
Cam Akers player page
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Travis Etienne said he thinks he will be a good fit for head coach Liam Coen's offensive system. 'He's been getting me in a lot of space,' Etienne said.
Footballguys view: Liam Coen said there was nothing to reports that the new regime didn't like Etienne. Combine that with another report now that Etienne will be getting the ball more in space in Coen's offense, and it's possible that Etienne plummeting in drafts after the team took Bhayshul Tuten in the fourth round was an overreaction. As we head into the NFL news dead zone, it might be time to move Etienne up and Tuten down until we start to get training camp reports. Etienne should get incumbent treatment to open camp despite being under a new regime. |
Travis Etienne Jr. player page
New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara will continue to be a significant part of the running and passing game in the new offensive scheme, according to head coach Kellen Moore.
Footballguys view: Kamara was a top five PPR back last year, but he is falling to the fourth round or later in drafts right now. There's not a lot of confidence that he will maintain his level of play and production from last year going into his age 30 season with Spencer Rattler or Tyler Shough at quarterback, but that creates enough of a discount to keep him in consideration at his current ADP. |

New York Jets RB Breece Hall said he understands he is not entitled to play time and is ready to compete for playing time during training camp. 'I'm around a new GM, new coaches, a lot of new faces. So for me, I've got to prove that I'm 'the guy' every day. I feel like my skill set, I'm a three-down back and second-to-none to a lot of backs in the league,' Hall said.
Footballguys view: This gives credence to the idea that Aaron Glenn wasn't engaging in pure coachspeak when he said the team will rely on all three of Hall, Braelon Allen, and Isaiah Davis this season. While that puts a damper on expectations for Hall, he could rise above the second year backs when the games count in September and make letting him fall out of the first two rounds in fantasy drafts look foolish. Hall has one of the widest ranges of outcomes in fantasy this year. |
Pittsburgh Steelers RB Jaylen Warren made adjustments to his offseason workout routine, in anticipation of shouldering a heavier workload at running back than he has in previous seasons, due to the departure of RB Najee Harris via free agency. 'I did a lot more things for longevity wise, instead of my old-school training like just getting the cleats on and running 30 hills,' Warren said. 'I had to adapt. This game is about longevity. And like they say, the best ability is availability.'
Footballguys view: The wind went out of the sails of Warren's ADP after the Steelers took Kaleb Johnson in the third round. The mystery box appeal of rookie running backs immediately vaulted Johnson rounds ahead of Warren in ADP, but perhaps that was too hasty. It sounds like Warren will be treated as the starter to open camp, and while rookies can impress with their fresh legs, they can also be unreliable and suffer injuries adjusting the NFL grind. Warren might be underrated in fantasy drafts. |
Tennessee Titans RB Kalel Mullings (undisclosed) participated in the mandatory minicamp after dealing with an undisclosed injury.
Footballguys view: A sixth-round pick out of Michigan, Mullings was a converted linebacker who has the ability to beat up defenders on the ground. He's still developing as a running back, and Mullings needs to show he can catch passes out of the backfield too. He's buried on the Titans depth chart, but we'll monitor Mullings in super deep dynasty formats. |
Denver Broncos RB RJ Harvey could have a 'situational role' in the offense this season, according to Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com.
Footballguys view: Many are thinking Harvey could be Sean Payton's new version of Alvin Kamara. While that's certainly a possibility, there's more of a chance that he's more Darren Sproles this year...with newly signed JK Dobbins playing the Mark Ingram role. This is going to be a 2-headed RBBC in Denver, and we could see Dobbins getting more touches because he's trusted in pass protection. Harvey is dynamic, and he could catch a lot of passes from Bo Nix this year. We'll see how he does in pass protection during the preseason, and that will help determine who much playing time he takes away from Dobbins. |
Free-agent RB Cam Akers (Vikings) agreed to terms with the New Orleans Saints Friday, June 13, according to a source. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Akers participated in the team's minicamp this week on a tryout basis. He joins Alvin Kamara, Kendre Miller, Devin Neal, and Clyde Edwards-Helaire in the running backs room. Akers, 25, spent last season with the Texans and Vikings. Between the two teams, he rushed for 444 yards and two touchdowns on 104 carries and added 14 catches for 68 yards and three touchdowns. Akers is unlikely to cut into Kamara's workload, but he could move into the rotation behind the starter. We'll watch for more when camp opens. |
Cam Akers player page
New York Jets RB Breece Hall could be the 'No. 2 option' in the passing game, in the opinion of Zack Rosenblatt.
Footballguys view: Hall has fallen from the top five of 2024 drafts to the third round of 2025 drafts, largely because of the suggestion by head coach Aaron Glenn that there will be a three-headed backfield with Hall, Braelon Allen, and Isaiah Davis. He also said today that he was playing through a "pretty serious" knee injury last year, but one that did not require surgery. So it's possible we still haven't seen him return all the way to form after a 2022 ACL tear. If Hall can separate from the younger backs and become the clear lead back again, he could be one of the best picks of the draft, but if he doesn't, he might not even be startable. While this is an optimistic report, it might not be difficult to be the second option in the Jets passing game this year with lackluster options at wide receiver behind Garrett Wilson. |
Buffalo Bills RB James Cook said he hopes to receive a contract extension and wants to remain with the team for a long time. General manager Brandon Beane said he has talked with Cook several times this week and expects Cook to report for training camp.
Footballguys view: Cook showed up for OTAs, so we don't have to worry about a holdout here. His low RB1 value was based in part on a high touchdown rate, but he is being drafted as an RB2 and the Bills offense is still likely to be one of the highest scoring units in the league. Cook is a safe pick at his current ADP. |
Green Bay Packers RB MarShawn Lloyd played only one game last season due to multiple injuries but told reporters on Thursday, June 12, that he has been 100% for 'some time now.'
Footballguys view: Lloyd's health and performance in camp and the preseason will be a big part of sorting out who we need to target as the player who would benefit the most in fantasy leagues if Josh Jacobs misses times. Lloyd is the most talented, and the Packers liked him enough to take him in the third round last year. Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks both went undrafted when they entered the league, but they performed well for the team down the stretch last year and complement each other well, with Brooks playing on passing downs. The Packers might be forced to keep four backs, and if they don't expect whomever they release to be claimed on waivers before Week 1. |
New York Jets RB Breece Hall revealed to reporters during mandatory minicamp that he played through a 'pretty serious' knee injury during the 2024 season. He added that he feels fine now and did not need to undergo surgery to correct it.
Link to storyLas Vegas Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty won't be the only running back the team relies on, according to head coach Pete Carroll. 'I love having multiple guys play,' Carroll said. 'I'm not relying on one guy, you know.' Asked how the carries would be divvied up, Carroll said the RBs would make the decision with their play.
Link to storyArizona Cardinals RB Trey Benson told the team's website that he added seven pounds of muscle since last season. He also noted that he explosiveness metrics have improved noticeably.
Footballguys view: Benson is a powerful player who wins at the point of contact and keeps his feet moving to pick up more yards. The Cardinals have James Conner as their lead back, but HC Jonathan Gannon said if Benson takes the jump from year 1 to year 2 "I think we have two starting backs." |
