Bills | No progress on Josh Allen extension talks Sat Jul 31, 08:17 AM
There has been no recent progress toward a contract extension between the Buffalo Bills and QB Josh Allen, according to NFL Network's Kim Jones. Both sides could agree to shelve discussions until after the season if no deal has been reached by Aug. 15.
|Footballguys view: Allen is in line to become one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league. He's waiting for a new deal just like other first-round QBs from his class (2018) Baker Mayfield and Lamar Jackson. The Bills are likely waiting for the other two in order to structure Allen's deal. They picked up his fifth-year option and have Allen under control through the 2022 season, but the sooner they sign him the better as his price is just going to keep going up.|

Bills | Spencer Brown signs rookie deal Tue Jul 20, 11:24 AM
Buffalo Bills third-round pick OT Spencer X. Brown signed his rookie, four-year deal Tuesday, July 20. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Brown is a man mountain who could project as a starter down the line. Brown could become the team's swing tackle with a solid camp.|
Bills | Cole Beasley not long for Buffalo? Sun Jul 18, 11:02 PM
Buffalo Bills WR Cole Beasley is unlikely to be released after recording career highs with 82 receptions and 967 receiving yards, although he has threatened to retire because of the NFL's COVID-19 protocols for unvaccinated individuals. However, the Buffalo News' Jay Skurski speculates that, although unlikely, the Bills could remove 'the potential distraction themselves' and release Beasley. Skurski also notes that cutting Beasley would save $5.341 million against the 2021 cap.
|Footballguys view: There has been more than one report lately that casts question on Beasley's status. Draft Gabriel Davis and Emmanuel Sanders a little higher than you would have before this trend and avoid Beasley unless his ADP drops a little.|

Bills | Zach Ertz still option for Buffalo Thu Jul 15, 05:55 PM
Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz is still a trade option for the Buffalo Bills at this point, in the opinion of The Buffalo News' Vic Carucci.
|Footballguys view: The Bills tight end situation is one to watch. They have Dawson Knox and he's a talented move tight end but has yet to play up to his potential. Behind him is journeyman Jacob Hollister who has great chemistry with QB Josh Allen from their playing days together in college at the University of Wyoming. Ertz would give them the most proven target at the position. We'll see if a trade happens or if this was just offseason speculation because it's been reported as a potential landing spot for Ertz for quite some time.|

Bills | Ken Dorsey is passing game coordinator Thu Jul 15, 12:12 PM
Buffalo Bills quarterbacks coach Ken Dorsey also will serve as the team's passing game coordinator in 2021, as is now noted in his official team bio.
|Footballguys view: This move was not announced but changed on his bio, and it makes sense. Dorsey has been with the Bills since 2019 and has done wonders with QB Josh Allen. With Allen about to be one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league, it makes sense to give Dorsey more responsibility.|

Bills | WR Beasley on the Bubble? Mon Jul 12, 12:43 PM
Jay Skurski, from the Buffalo News, speculates that Buffalo Bills WR Cole Beasley could be on the roster bubble in training camp.
|Footballguys view: We don't think this happens, but that is the speculation by some reporters around the team. Beasley has a $7.6 million cap hit this year with $1.5 million remaining in dead money. If the team did move on to clear up salary cap space (with a new contract for QB Josh Allen looming) then perhaps Emmanuel Sanders could play the slot. That would leave Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis on the outside. Again, we think Beasley stays with the team but keep an eye on this situation just in case.|

Bills | RB Singletary 'Looking Stronger, Feeling Faster' Fri Jul 9, 02:30 PM
Maddy Glad, from BuffaloBills.com, reports Bills RB Devin Singletary showed up to last month's mandatory minicamp "looking stronger and feeling faster."
|Footballguys view: That's great news for Singletary but it has to show up on the field. Just a week ago, The Athletic's Joe Buscaglia reported RB Zack Moss could "take over the backfield in 2021 if he continues to improve." He speculated Moss could get as many as 70 percent of the team's snaps in 2021. That doesn't leave many opportunities (or fantasy points) for a 'stonger/faster' Singletary.|
Bills | Matt Breida will have to compete Wed Jul 7, 11:09 AM
Buffalo Bills RB Matt Breida has to beat out RBs Antonio Williams and Christian Wade for the final seat in Buffalo's running backs room. He might have to provide value on special teams in order to do so, according to beat writer Marcel Louis-Jacques.
|Footballguys view: There is no doubt that Breida has talent as both a runner and receiver out of the backfield, but he's not a lock for the 53-man roster. His versatility and special teams play might be what separates him from Williams or Wade.|

Bills | RB Moss Set to Take Over Backfield? Fri Jul 2, 03:15 PM
Joe Buscaglia, from The Athletic, reports Buffalo Bills RB Zack Moss could "take over the backfield in 2021 if he continues to improve." He speculates Moss could get as many as 70 percent of the team's snaps in 2021.
|Footballguys view: Moss has to get healthy as an ankle injury has kept him from participating fully this offseason. He should be ready for training camp and the start of the regular season. If he does beat out Devin Singletary for that primary role, Moss could perform like a RB2 with upside. His current ADP of RB41 is due to the expected RBBC between Moss and Singletary. If one emerges in camp, expect that to change. Stay tuned.|
Bills | TE Hollister a Potential Starter Fri Jul 2, 03:11 PM
Joe Buscaglia, from The Athletic, reports Buffalo Bills TE Jacob Hollister could become the team's starter if Dawson Knox's struggles continue in 2021.
|Footballguys view: Hollister has flashed a bit of talent during his time with the Patriots and the Seahawks in his career. A college teammate of QB Josh Allen at Wyoming, Hollister has instant chemistry with his quarterback and can create mismatches on the field against linebackers tasked with covering him. Knox has talent, but he's yet to play up to his potential. If he falters, then perhaps Hollister could take over. Watch this situation in training camp as all Fantasy GMs should be collecting pieces of the high-powered Bills offense.|
Bills | Josh Allen could see $100 million guaranteed Fri Jul 2, 11:49 AM
Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen could become the first player to eclipse $100 million fully guaranteed in his next contract, in the opinion of former agent Joel Corry.
|Footballguys view: Allen, Baker Mayfield and Lamar Jackson - all from that top-tier QB class in 2018 - are awaiting new long-term contracts. We'll see which one gets their deal first and which one gets the largest contract. Allen is likely to be one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league when his new deal is done. The jump to MVP levels last year was amazing and the team is looking to make a Super Bowl run this season.|

Bills | Sanders 'Most Underrated' on Offense? Wed Jun 30, 01:13 PM
Joe Buscaglia, from The Athletic, said Buffalo Bills WR Emmanuel Sanders is more likely than Gabriel Davis to take John Brown's place in the Buffalo offense this year. In his recent article, Buscaglia said Sanders is "the most underrated piece to the Bills offense."
|Footballguys view: Sanders is a seasoned veteran with more in the tank than some may think. He'll work on the outside opposite of Stefon Diggs with Cole Beasley working underneath in the slot. Sanders has plenty of speed and can run crisp routes to get open with ease. His fantasy value is lower than his value to the Bills in that role. Fantasy GMs are taking a flier on Sanders late in their drafts, and he's got a current ADP of WR72 (14.12) in 12-team PPR leagues.|
Bills | Dawson Knox putting in the work Sat Jun 26, 09:48 PM
Buffalo Bills TE Dawson Knox spent time working with QB Josh Allen this offseason, and he hired a hand-eye trainer to try to cut down on his drops. 'It would work your eyes in a way where you'd feel like you're almost hypnotized,' Knox said. 'I felt like my progress from my first day with him to my last day was pretty great.'
|Footballguys view: Knox is one of the most athletic tight ends in the league, but he hasn't been able to put together a long stretch of healthy, consistent play yet. Entering his third year, the team still has high hopes for him, and that could be part of the reason that they only signed Jacob Hollister instead of trading for Zach Ertz. There's still time for an Ertz deal to happen, but if doesn't, Knox should be on your early season waiver wire watch list, because he'll be the lowest priority in the opposing defense's coverage gameplan.|

Bills | Devin Singletary faster in 2021? Wed Jun 23, 10:29 PM
Buffalo Bills RB Devin Singletary is 'going to be way faster' this season, according to his personal trainer Nick Hicks. 'Speed was the number one thing that he wanted to work on,' said Hicks. 'He's very quick, extremely agile, but speed was the main reason why he reached out to us to come train with us.'
|Footballguys view: Singletary looked good as a rookie in 2019, but the Bills still went out and added Zack Moss to compete with him in 2020. This year, the split in the backfield will continue and Moss will likely get red zone work. Add in the rushing ability of QB Josh Allen and you can see how Singletary's workload could follow the pattern established last season. If Moss is healthy, Singletary is more of a RB4/flex option for Fantasy GMs.|

Bills | Isaiah Hodgins turned heads Mon Jun 21, 11:51 AM
Buffalo Bills WR Isaiah Hodgins (shoulder) shed the red, non-contact jersey before the end of OTAs and stood out. He received praise from head coach Sean McDermott and QB Josh Allen.
|Footballguys view: Hodgins was a sixth-round pick out of Oregon State in 2020 but missed all of his rookie season due to a shoulder injury that required surgery to repair. Now, Hodgins is back healthy and seems to be impressing. The Bills are stacked at the wide receiver position, so Hodgins may be in line for a practice squad spot. He's a quick route runner with a nose for the end zone and can thrive after the catch. We'll continue to monitor him in deep dynasty formats.|
Bills | Cole Beasley considering retirement Sat Jun 19, 02:01 PM
Buffalo Bills WR Cole Beasley said Saturday, June 19, that he may consider retirement over his disagreement with the league's continuing COVID-19 protocols for unvaccinated players such as himself.
|Footballguys view: The chances of Beasley actually retiring are slim, but if he does, Gabriel Davis and Emmanuel Sanders would get bumps in value, and Dawson Knox would become a more attractive sleeper at tight end.|

Bills | Isaiah Hodgins back in action Thu Jun 17, 10:00 PM
Buffalo Bills WR Isaiah Hodgins (shoulder) was a full participant in minicamp after missing his entire rookie season with a shoulder injury.
|Footballguys view: Hodgins is in a battle with sixth round speedster Marquez Stevenson for a roster spot. Stevenson can contribute in the return game, so Hodgins has a slight disadvantage after being a sixth round pick last year.|

Bills | Zack Moss should be ready for camp Tue Jun 15, 05:25 PM
Buffalo Bills RB Zack Moss (ankle) likely will be ready for the start of training camp, according to head coach Sean McDermott.
|Footballguys view: The Bills would like to give Moss a sizable workload in 2021. McDermott said Moss has done well this offseason even though he has not been able to take part in drills.|
Bills | Tommy Sweeney back on field Thu Jun 10, 02:08 PM
Buffalo Bills TE Tommy Sweeney (heart) was able to participate in practice this week.
|Footballguys view: Sweeney had his 2020 season cut short after COVID-19 left him with myocarditis and a need to refrain from physical activity for months. A seventh-round pick out of Boston College in 2019, Sweeney flashed a bit as a rookie catching eight passes for 114 yards in five games. Now back and healthy, Sweeney will compete for a spot on the depth chart behind starter Dawson Knox.|

Bills | Cody Ford limited at practice Sun Jun 6, 01:03 PM
Buffalo Bills OG Cody Ford (undisclosed) has been wearing a no-contact jersey during offseason workouts.
|Footballguys view: Ike Boettger looked solid in spot starts at guard last year. He could take advantage of the opportunity opened up by Ford's status to convince the team that he is a core piece of the interior offensive line and perhaps create a trade market for Ford or free agent signing Forrest Lamp.|
Bills | Gregory Rousseau under contract Thu Jun 3, 04:55 PM
Buffalo Bills first-round draft choice DE Gregory Rousseau agreed to terms on a four-year contract with the Bills Thursday, June 3. The deal includes $11,367,075 in guaranteed money as well as a fifth-year option.
|Footballguys view: Rousseau has inside/outside versatility as a pass rusher and he was highly productive back in 2019, often beating guards one-on-one. Rousseau opted out of the 2020 season and will probably be brought along slower than a typical late first-round pick would be.|
Bills | Emmanuel Sanders attending OTAs Tue Jun 1, 06:03 PM
Buffalo Bills WR Emmanuel Sanders is at the team facility for organized team activities Tuesday, June 1.
|Footballguys view: Sanders has bounced around the last few years (Broncos, 49ers, Saints) but has the consistency to be a valuable target for QB Josh Allen. He'll start on the outside opposite of Stefon Diggs with Cole Beasley working the slot. The presence of Sanders does limit the snap potential for Gabriel Davis, but we still appreciate him in dynasty formats.|

Bills | Stefon Diggs agrees to restructured deal Tue Jun 1, 04:05 PM
Buffalo Bills WR Stefon Diggs agreed to convert more than $11.7 million of his base salary into a signing bonus Tuesday, June 1, according to a source.
|Footballguys view: This move saves the Bills roughly $8 million in cap space. They could use that move to sign draft picks (first-round pick Greg Rousseau still unsigned) and there's also the upcoming extension for QB Josh Allen. The Bills aren't going to let Allen go anywhere and that's going to be a big price tag as Allen is one of the up-and-coming star quarterbacks in the league.|

Bills | Buffalo signs draft pick Damar Hamlin Fri May 21, 01:11 PM
Buffalo Bills S Damar Hamlin on Friday, May 21, signed his four-year rookie contract.
|Footballguys view: Hamlin is no sure thing to make the team, but the sixth round pick can play multiple roles in a secondary that values disciplined coverage over pure athleticism.|
Bills | Buffalo adds Treyvon Hester Thu May 20, 03:01 PM
Free-agent DT Treyvon Hester (Eagles) signed a one-year contract with the Buffalo Bills Thursday, May 20. Financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Hester is a journeyman who was drafted by the Raiders in the seventh round in 2017. He is best known for tipping Cody Parkey's double doink game-losing kick in the playoffs to help the Eagles move on in the 2018-19 season. Hester can give the team extra depth at one and three tech defensive tackle and contribute on special teams if he can make the roster.|

Bills | Jeff Badet set to meet with Buffalo Tue May 18, 11:39 PM
Free-agent WR Jeff Badet (Washington) is scheduled to work out for the Buffalo Bills this week, according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport.
