Eagles | Richard Rodgers back with Eagles Fri Jun 11, 02:51 PM
Free-agent TE Richard Rodgers (Eagles) signed with the Philadelphia Eagles Friday, June 11. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Rodgers was pressed into duty last year and had some decent games for the Eagles, who rely on their tight end position more than most teams. He'll always be best known for catching a game-winning hail mary from Aaron Rodgers.|
Eagles | Trevon Grimes moved to IR Thu Jun 10, 05:57 PM
Philadelphia Eagles WR Trevon Grimes (knee) was moved to the Reserve/Injured list Thursday, June 10, after clearing waivers.
|Footballguys view: The Eagles had hopes that the size/athleticism prospect from UCLA could make their practice squad. Now he'll stay in the organization without using up one of those spots. The team is far from set at outside receiver, so we'll monitor his development in the future.|

Eagles | Trevon Grimes has surgery Fri Jun 4, 06:22 PM
Philadelphia Eagles WR Trevon Grimes (knee) recently underwent knee surgery, but the injury was not considered serious, according to a source.
|Footballguys view: Grimes had a knee injury his senior year of high school but still signed with Ohio State. He ended up transferring to Florida and showed off his size/speed combination (and nose for the end zone). As a senior with the Gators, Grimes was overshadowed by WR Kadarius Toney and TE Kyle Pitts but he still ended the 2020 season with 589 yards and nine touchdowns. The Eagles picked him up as a priority free agent after the draft this year, and Grimes is a long shot for the 53-man roster.|
Eagles | Philly signs three more picks Fri Jun 4, 03:59 PM
Philadelphia Eagles sixth-round draft choice DT Marlon Tuipulotu, sixth-round draft choice DE Tarron Jackson and seventh-round draft choice DE Patrick Johnson signed four-year contracts with the Eagles Friday, June 4. Financial terms were not disclosed.Link to story
Eagles | Philly signs three draft picks Thu Jun 3, 05:07 PM
Philadelphia Eagles third-round draft choice DT Milton J. Williams, fourth-round draft choice CB Zech McPhearson and fifth-round draft choice RB Kenneth Gainwell signed four-year contracts with the Eagles Thursday, June 3. Financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Gainwell will play the Nyheim Hines role in Nick Sirianni's offense and could displace Boston Scott as the backup to Miles Sanders. McPhearson was a highly coveted target for the Eagles to help their beleaguered secondary. Williams is a freakish athlete who should fit right in with Fletcher Cox and Javon Hargrave.|
Eagles | DeVonta Smith comes to terms Thu Jun 3, 01:52 PM
Philadelphia Eagles WR DeVonta Smith on Thursday, June 3, agreed to terms on his rookie contract, according to a league source. Financial details weren't immediately available.
|Footballguys view: Smith's game is all about speed, and he's drawn some comparisons to former Colts great Marvin Harrison because of his playmaking ability. During his college career at Alabama, Smith split time between playing out wide and playing the slot. Smith can take the top off the defense and he tracks the ball well downfield. We'll see what kind of progress QB Jalen Hurts makes as a passer, and that question mark does make it difficult to forecast Smith's numbers. He's got a current ADP of WR55 (12.01) in 12-team PPR leagues.|
Eagles | Kerryon Johnson restructured deal Wed Jun 2, 09:36 PM
Philadelphia Eagles RB Kerryon Johnson agreed to a restructured contract that will pay him the veteran minimum of $920,000 with a matching cap hit in 2021, according to a league source.
|Footballguys view: Johnson is getting a second chance in the league to prove himself. The 43rd overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft by the Lions, Johnson struggled to stay healthy and impress. The Lions waived him this offseason and the Eagles scooped him up. He'll compete with Jordan Howard, Boston Scott, and rookie Kenneth Gainwell for snaps behind Miles Sanders.|

Eagles | Zach Ertz has teams calling Tue Jun 1, 11:01 AM
Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz has had at least three teams calling about trading for him, according to sources. His release is unlikely.
|Footballguys view: Rumblings have the Eagles wanting a third-round pick for Ertz. It's a steep price tag especially when considering the veteran comes with a $12.7 million cap hit. Before the draft there were reportedly six or seven teams interested in Ertz. That number has likely been whittled down to the serious contenders now. We'll see where he lands.|

Eagles | Jalen Reagor to be on the move more in 2021 Tue May 25, 02:41 PM
Philadelphia Eagles WR Jalen Reagor told reporters Tuesday, May 25, that he will play in the slot and 'move around a great deal' in 2021.
|Footballguys view: Reagor, a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL draft, played most of his snaps outside as a rookie and finished the season with 31 catches for 396 yards and one touchdown. The Eagles went back to the well in the first round this year to add DeVonta Smith (Alabama) and he should play a large role. Getting Reagor targets from the slot with Smith taking the top off the defense on the outside sounds like a good combination.|
Eagles | More Screen Passes for Sanders? Sat May 22, 03:25 PM
According to Eliot Shorr-Parks, from 94WIP.com in Philadelphia, Eagles offensive lineman Lane Johnson notes there seems to be more emphasis on the screen game in Nick Sirianni's offense.
|Footballguys view: Sanders should be the centerpiece in the Eagles new offense. He can handle a larger workload as a runner and receiver out of the backfield. Sanders has 78 catches in two seasons but could be in line for a career high in catches this season. Rookie Kenneth Gainwell, a fifth-round pick out of Memphis, can be used as a pass-catching option out of the backfield as well.|

Eagles | Lane Johnson a full-go for offseason program Thu May 20, 02:17 PM
Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that RT Lane Johnson was fully cleared from ankle surgery a few weeks ago and will be "full go" for the offseason program.
|Footballguys view: The Eagles offense collapsed last year for more reasons than one, but the offensive line injuries were certainly prominent on that list. Johnson is one of the best in the business and his return along with Brandon Brooks will give the Eagles one of the best right sides of the line in the league once again. Jalen Hurts and Miles Sanders have a better shot at a bounceback year as long as the line stays healthy and the offense takes to Nick Sirianni's system.|

Eagles | Offense Not a Great Fit for Jalen Hurts? Mon May 17, 02:56 PM
Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni has not installed much in terms of quarterback reads or run/pass options according to what sources tell Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
|Footballguys view: Sirianni has constantly reiterated that Hurts is going to have to compete for the starting job. That's fine coachspeak, but the reality is that Hurts is the best option the team has. Hurts is a great runner and can attack a defense with his legs. It would be wise for Sirianni's playbook to highlight that. In order for Hurts to succeed, the Eagles will have to utilize his running ability while he improves as a passer in the pros.|
Eagles | Zach Ertz not at workouts Mon May 17, 02:41 PM
Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz did not report for the start of offseason workouts Monday, May 17, and is expected to stay away until his situation is resolved, according to a source.
|Footballguys view: No surprise here. Ertz might be traded if the Eagles can find a partner willing to pay their requested price (rumored to be a third-round pick). He's a sound veteran but that $12.7 million cap hit is going to be tough to move. Stay tuned.|

Eagles | Philly claims Kerryon Johnson Fri May 7, 04:30 PM
Former Detroit Lions RB Kerryon Johnson was claimed off waivers by the Philadelphia Eagles Friday, May 7.
|Footballguys view: The Eagles have a jam-packed running back room with the addition of Johnson. Miles Sanders is still the top back and behind him there will be a competition to establish a pecking order with guys like Boston Scott, Jordan Howard and Johnson. The Eagles also added Kenneth Gainwell (Memphis) in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL draft.|

Eagles | Stage clear for Jalen Hurts Fri May 7, 01:45 PM
Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts enters his second season as the team's No. 1 quarterback, and general manager Howie Roseman is eager to see what he does with the opportunity. 'Certainly you're judging him off of four NFL starts, in a tough situation with all the injuries that we had,' Roseman said during a recent interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio. 'We want to see him grab the job and kind of run with it, and see what you do over a period of time.'
|Footballguys view: The Eagles are turning over the reins of the offense to Hurts. He's flashed ability as a starter but needs to further develop as a passer. The weapons around him have been improved and we'll see if he takes that next step. Hurts has QB1 potential for Fantasy GMs because of his rushing ability and potential to take that next step as a quarterback. His current ADP is QB11 (7.07) in 12-team PPR leagues.|
Eagles | Philly inks trio of UDFAs Tue May 4, 01:40 AM
The Philadelphia Eagles signed undrafted free agents OLs Harry Crider (Indiana) and Kayode Awosika (Buffalo), and DE JaQuan Bailey (Iowa State) on Sunday, May 2.Link to story
Eagles | Trevon Grimes lands in Philly Sun May 2, 09:11 PM
Undrafted free-agent WR Trevon Grimes (Florida) agreed to terms with the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday, May 2.
|Footballguys view: Grimes started his college career at Ohio State but left after his first season and went to Florida. His numbers got better each season with the Gators and Grimes has the chip on his shoulder to prove doubters wrong. Grimes is a big target and has a nice size/speed combination. He's not a burner but can win at the catch point and has more subtlety as a route runner than some think. In crazy deep dynasty formats we'll keep an eye on him.|

Undrafted free-agent TE Jack Stoll (Nebraska) agreed to terms with the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday, May 2.Link to story
Eagles | Philadelphia to sign Jhamon Ausbon Sat May 1, 07:19 PM

Eagles | Jamie Newman signing with Philly Sat May 1, 07:09 PM
Undrafted free-agent QB Jamie Newman (Wake Forest) agreed to terms with the Philadelphia Eagles, according to a source Saturday, May 1.
|Footballguys view: Newman was an interesting player at Wake Forest and was supposed to play at Georgia in 2020 before opting out of the season. He's got an athletic profile and can throw with good touch when his mechanics are clean. He's a project, but one worth keeping an eye on in super deep dynasty formats.|
Eagles | DeVonta Smith lands in Philly Thu Apr 29, 09:35 PM
Alabama WR DeVonta Smith was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles with the 10th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
|Footballguys view: Smith's game is all about speed, speed and more speed. He reminds many in the scouting community of DeSean Jackson...so landing with the Eagles is perfect. They'll know what to do with him and he can stretch the field to take the top off the defense.|
Eagles | Zach Ertz likely to get moved soon Tue Apr 27, 02:44 PM
Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz reportedly has 'six or seven teams in the running' for his services - including the Indianapolis Colts - and there is a belief he will be traded during draft weekend, according to Pro Football Network's Tony Pauline.
|Footballguys view: The Eagles have had interest in Ertz and deals get done at deadlines. It's put-up-or-shut-up time during the draft, so we might actually see a deal come to fruition over the next few days.|

Eagles | Kwity Paye destined for Philly? Tue Apr 27, 02:30 PM
Michigan DE/LB Kwity Paye is viewed as a younger version of Brandon Graham and a player the Philadelphia Eagles could be interested in drafting at No. 12 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft.Link to story
Eagles | Jalen Hurts to compete Wed Apr 21, 12:30 PM
Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts was not named the starter by head coach Nick Sirianni, who said he isn't naming any starters and wants competition at all positions.
|Footballguys view: When Carson Wentz was traded to the Colts, the idea was that Hurts would get the chance to be 'the guy' in 2021. He'll still get that chance but is going to have to compete for the top job. Unless the Eagles add a top-tier quarterback in the draft, Hurts should be able to win the starting gig. With his rushing ability, Hurts has QB1 upside for Fantasy GMs this season.|
Eagles | Philly looking to move back up? Sat Apr 17, 12:24 PM
Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is 'exploring' a trade that will allow the team to get back into the top 10 of the 2021 NFL Draft, according to a report from The Athletic.
|Footballguys view: Roseman is addicted to trading, so more moves from the Eagles would make sense. They moved back from no.6 overall with the Dolphins and picked up another first-round pick in 2022. Getting back into the top-10 pick would mean they're targeting a quarterback, although unlikely if they really believe in Jalen Hurts, or a top-tier wide receiver.|
Eagles | Jordan Howard terms Fri Apr 16, 09:51 AM
Updating previous reports, Philadelphia Eagles RB Jordan Howard's one-year deal has a $990,000 base salary and no guaranteed money. Howard's deal is a veteran salary benefit deal that counts $850,000 against the salary cap.
|Footballguys view: Howard is with the Eagles to provide veteran depth and pick up some short-yardage and goal-line situations. His role will be very limited and there's not much fantasy value there.|

Eagles | Philly eyeing Deshaun Watson Fri Apr 9, 12:45 PM
If Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson can appropriately settle his current lawsuit and legal problems, the Philadelphia Eagles would be interested in pursuing a trade, according to a a league source Friday, April 9.
|Footballguys view: Many teams are going to be interested in Watson if his legal issues are cleared up. The Eagles will have to get in line with a team like the Broncos if that's the case. If they can't get Watson, the Eagles are ready to give second-year quarterback Jalen Hurts the opportunity to prove he can be a franchise guy.|

Eagles | Jordan Howard returning to Philly Wed Apr 7, 05:20 PM
Free-agent RB Jordan Howard (Eagles) is re-signing with the Philadelphia Eagles on a one-year contract, according to a source Wednesday, April 7. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Howard is a big-bodied power back with a clearly-defined role. The staff is new with the Eagles, but it's not like Howard is going to be used any differently. If he makes the 53-man roster, Howard will get short-yardage work with some goal-line carries mixed in.|

Eagles | Philly in contact with Terrace Marshall Sun Apr 4, 04:01 PM
Louisiana State WR Terrace Marshall has talked with the Philadelphia Eagles during the pre-draft process.
|Footballguys view: The Eagles are still looking for wide receiver help. They've passed on D.K. Metcalf and Justin Jefferson over the last couple of drafts and the guys they picked (J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, Jalen Reagor) have not yet played up to their potential. Reagor has incredible ability if he stays healthy. Marshall is big and fast and has a nose for the end zone. He should be a late first-round pick.|
Eagles | Kadarius Toney talks with Philly Fri Apr 2, 07:41 PM
Florida WR Kadarius Toney said he recently met with the Philadelphia Eagles.
|Footballguys view: Toney is a player some see as a first-round talent in the 2021 NFL draft. He was one of the best playmakers in college football last season and can hurt a defense as a receiver or runner. We see him as more of a quality no.2 receiver at the pro level.|
Eagles | Boston Scott signs tender Thu Apr 1, 03:35 PM
Philadelphia Eagles exclusive rights free-agent Boston Scott signed his one-year tender offer Thursday, April 1. Financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: As an ERFA, Scott didn't have much choice in the matter. We'll see him once again compete for a spot on the depth chart behind Miles Sanders.|
