Jaguars | CJ Henderson starting camp on COVID list Fri Jul 23, 04:22 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars CB CJ Henderson was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list Friday, July 23.
|Footballguys view: Henderson's job isn't 100% secure with second-round Tyson Campbell arriving and a new regime in the front office and coaching staff. It's unclear whether he has contracted covid or is unvaccinated and has a close contact who has tested positive for covid, as the league can not comment on that.|
Jaguars | Jake Luton placed on COVID list Thu Jul 22, 05:07 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Jake Luton was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday, July 22.Link to story
Jaguars | Dylan Moses lands on NFI list Tue Jul 20, 09:02 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars LB Dylan Moses (knee) was placed on the Active/Non-Football Injury list Tuesday, July 20.
|Footballguys view: Moses was a top prospect with a first round grade before hurting his knee. The Jaguars hope that he can contribute eventually, but this year will likely be a redshirt year for the former Alabama standout.|
Jaguars | Tyson Campbell gets rookie deal done Tue Jul 20, 01:11 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars second-round pick CB Tyson Campbell (Georgia) signed a four-year contract that includes a fifth-year team option Tuesday, July 20. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Campbell isn't needed to start right away, but if he outplays 2020 #9 pick CJ Henderson, it wouldn't be a shock. The team also signed Shaq Griffin in free agency, so their cornerback depth has been rebuilt since trading Jalen Ramsey to the Rams two years ago.|
Jaguars | Travis Etienne signs rookie deal Mon Jul 19, 07:29 PM
Jacksonville #25 overall pick Travis Etienne signed his rookie contract on Monday, per Ian Rapoport of NFL.com. Rapoport reports that Etienne will get a large part of his signing bonus up front and won't have offset language that would allow the team to recoup money if Etienne plays for another team before the term of his rookie deal is up, which is also what #1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence got from the team.
|Footballguys view: There is no contract/holdout drama for rookies any more with salaries slotted, and it looks like Etienne won whatever battles about contract language that there were at the margin. Now, he can get busy trying to unseat incumbent starter and 2020 UDFA James Robinson while new head coach Urban Meyer also has designs of playing Etienne at wide receiver.|
Jaguars | Cam Robinson unlikely to strike deal Wed Jul 14, 11:01 AM
Jacksonville Jaguars OT Cam Robinson isn't expected to reach a long-term deal by the deadline Thursday, July 15, and he'll play on a one-year, $13.754 million franchise tag.Link to story
Jaguars | Taven Bryan facing uncertain future Wed Jul 7, 02:51 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars DL Taven Bryan is one of the strongest and most physically gifted defensive linemen on the roster, but his feel for the game isn't at the same level as the others, according to ESPN.com's Michael DiRocco. As a result, Bryan may be on the roster bubble during training camp this summer.Link to story

Jaguars | Trevor Lawrence signs rookie deal Mon Jul 5, 11:19 AM
Jacksonville Jaguars No. 1 overall pick QB Trevor Lawrence signed his four-year, $36.8 million rookie deal that includes $24.1 million in guaranteed money Monday, July 5. All rookie, first-round deals include fifth-year options.
|Footballguys view: Lawrence has the tools to be a franchise quarterback in the NFL. He's a rare "can't miss" prospect in the same way guys like Andrew Luck, Peyton Manning or John Elway were thought of. Lawrence is smart, accurate, has the arm strength to make all the throws required in the NFL and he's capable of picking up yards with his legs if need be. He'll start from day one, likely have some rookie struggles but pick up on things quickly.|
Jaguars | Ground Game to Be Centerpiece? Sun Jul 4, 02:48 PM
Connor Orr, from Sports Illustrated, speculates the Jacksonville Jaguars could center their offense on the run game in 2021.
|Footballguys view: Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer had a run-heavy approach during his time coaching the Buckeyes of Ohio State. The team's offensive coordinator, Darrell Bevell, used the ground game as the centerpiece during Russell Wilson's rookie season with Seattle years ago. Now, those two will be calling the shots for the Jaguars offense in 2021. This is good news for James Robinson. His fantasy value took a hit when the Jaguars selected RB Travis Etienne in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. However, if they're running early and often he could post strong RB2 numbers for Fantasy GMs.|
Jaguars | Laviska Shenault a QB's best friend Fri Jul 2, 10:53 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Laviska Shenault Jr. caught three or more passes in every game he completed as a rookie, and quarterbacks compiled a cumulative rating of 119 on throws to Shenault.
|Footballguys view: Shenault has incredible talent and a unique skill set that could be unlocked this season. He's got plenty of speed, great hands and concentration with the ability to be strong after the catch. He should quickly be able to become a trusted target of QB Trevor Lawrence, and Shenault could easily outperform his current ADP of WR44 (10.03) if he plays up to his potential.|
Jaguars | Gardner Minshew performing well during offseason Sat Jun 26, 09:33 AM
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Gardner Minshew has outperformed QB C.J. Beathard this offseason by a considerable margin, according to SI.com's John Shipley.
|Footballguys view: Minshew should be better than Beathard...by a wide margin. We'll see Minshew likely be the primary backup to no.1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence in 2021. Dynasty GMs are waiting for Minshew to get traded in order to compete for a starting job again in the NFL.|

Jaguars | Travis Etienne expected to provide boost Fri Jun 25, 09:26 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Travis Etienne will be used in multiple roles in order to create big plays for a Jacksonville offense that ranked last in the NFL with 16 plays of 20 yards or more in 2020.
|Footballguys view: Etienne's role in the Jaguars offense is one of the big mysteries of the offseason. They'll use him in multiple ways, because he's versatile and can do damage as a runner, receiver out of the backfield or from the slot. How much does he take from the plate of James Robinson? Does he start over Robinson? Is Etienne a gadget player or can he be the centerpiece of the Jaguars offense? We'll have more clarity about this in training camp and the preseason.|
Jaguars | Laviska Shenault a standout performer Mon Jun 21, 02:43 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Laviska Shenault Jr. was consistently making plays during offseason workouts and showed growth as a receiver, according to ESPN.com's Michael DiRocco.
|Footballguys view: It seems like every day of practice during OTAs and mandatory minicamp there were articles written about how great Shenault looks. It's more than just "fluff" pieces, and the consistency of the reports are the drumbeats we always look for during the offseason. Shenault has a ton of talent but injuries held him back at the University of Colorado. If healthy, Shenault has a unique skill set and has the upside to be one of the best in the league. Seriously, his potential is sky high - it just comes down to him avoiding the injury bug.|
Jaguars | James Robinson the favorite Mon Jun 21, 08:59 AM
Jacksonville Jaguars RB James Robinson is expected to be the top running back on the depth chart. Offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell has shown a past tendency to give more of his offense's rushing focus to backs with skill sets similar Robinson in the past. Robinson is the best pass-blocker of the group and is functional as a receiver.
|Footballguys view: Robinson's fantasy value took a hit when the Jaguars selected Clemson RB Travis Etienne in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft. As an undrafted rookie in 2020, Robinson thrived as the primary back for the Jaguars. Now, he's going to have to split some time with Etienne. How much time? That's what we don't know. There's a chance Robinson could lead the team in carries while Etienne works as a receiving back and change-of-pace back. Robinson has a current ADP of RB21 (4.04) in 12-team PPR leagues.|
Jaguars | Jamal Agnew a special teams workhorse? Sun Jun 20, 07:39 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Jamal Agnew will likely handle both kick and punt return duties this season, according to Bill Barnwell of ESPN.com.Link to story
Jaguars | Laquon Treadwell to Jaguars Fri Jun 18, 11:38 AM
Free-agent WR Laquon Treadwell (Falcons) signed an undisclosed deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars Friday, June 18. WR Jon'Vea Johnson was waived.
|Footballguys view: Urban Meyer said he remembered Treadwell from high school, which is interesting to say the least. Treadwell is unlikely to make the team, so this discussion is probably moot, but it would be good if Meyer was also familiar with what Treadwell did in the pros, too.|

Jaguars | Trevor Lawrence not named starter yet Wed Jun 16, 07:54 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence is expected to be the starting quarterback this season, but passing game coordinator Brian Schottenheimer said the team is not ready to name a starter at this point.
|Footballguys view: Let's be real here; Lawrence is the starter. He's the no.1 overall pick and should be a great one in the NFL. Lawrence was considered a "can't miss" prospect coming out of Clemson and it would be a shock if he's not under center in Week 1.|
Jaguars | Growth at WR for Laviska Shenault Jr. a focal point Tue Jun 15, 01:08 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Laviska Shenault Jr. is unlikely to be used as much on running plays in 2021, based on recent comments made by Darrell Bevell, who told reporters Tuesday, June 15, that he wants Shenault to develop 'as a pure wide receiver this offseason.'
|Footballguys view: Another day, another positive report for Shenault. He's got a ton of talent but fell to the second round of the draft in 2020 due to multiple injuries in college at Colorado. Shenault is a versatile player who wins with strength, athleticism and run-after-the-catch ability.|
Jaguars | Trevor Lawrence to be limited at minicamp Mon Jun 14, 02:40 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence (hamstring) will be limited during minicamp this week because of his hamstring problem, according to head coach Urban Meyer. Lawrence did not participate in 11-on-11 drills Monday, June 14, but participate in the other drills.
|Footballguys view: There's no need to push Lawrence at this point in the offseason and worsen the injury. So long as the hamstring is not aggravated, there's plenty of time for Lawrence to get healthy for the start of training camp.|

Jaguars | Laviska Shenault performs well at workouts Sat Jun 12, 05:40 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Laviska Shenault Jr. showed improved route running skills during offseason workouts and was able to catch all his targets during the workouts open to the media.
|Footballguys view: Shenault was one of the most physically gifted receivers in the prodigious class of 2020, but he didn't make as much of a fantasy impact as some of his peers. He has created as much buzz as any second year player this month. A new offense and momentum going into the summer will help his case to be the best value among Jaguars receivers as he's going 2-3 rounds after DJ Chark.|
Jaguars | Andre Cisco signs first contract Thu Jun 10, 06:03 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars third-round draft choice S Andre Cisco signed a four-year contract with the Jaguars Thursday, June 10. Financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Cisco is a playmaking safety who sometimes creates big plays for the other team. He'll have a shot to start right away in a defense that will be on the field a lot, giving him as much instant IDP appeal as the safeties drafted in the second round.|
Jaguars | Trevor Lawrence working through tight hamstring Tue Jun 8, 02:07 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence (hamstring) was spotted working with trainers after experiencing some tightness in his hamstring Tuesday, June 8.
|Footballguys view: This sounds like a minor hamstring for the 2021 no.1 overall pick. According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, Lawrence is expected to return to practice Thursday, June 10.|
Jaguars | CJ Henderson on the mend Thu Jun 3, 09:53 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars CB CJ Henderson (groin) is 'close' to returning to full health, head coach Urban Meyer said Thursday, June 3.Link to story
Jaguars | Pharoh Cooper to Jaguars Thu Jun 3, 11:14 AM
Free-agent WR Pharoh Cooper (Panthers) agreed to an undisclosed deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars Thursday, June 3. WR Terry Godwin (undisclosed) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list.
|Footballguys view: Cooper earned All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors back in 2017 when he was with the Rams. He's mainly a special teams player who can stand out as a return man. Last year with the Panthers, Cooper only caught five passes for 73 yards. He'll work as a return man/special teams player for the Jaguars.|

Jaguars | Trevor Lawrence struggles in red zone Fri May 28, 10:57 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence wasn't as sharp on throws in the red zone during OTAs, according to head coach Urban Meyer. 'The field changes especially against NFL talent all over the field,' said Meyer. 'The defense had the upper hand today.'
|Footballguys view: It's not the end of the world that a rookie quarterback struggled in one of his first practices in the NFL. Lawrence is smart, accurate and is one of the best quarterbacks to come in the league since Andrew Luck (2012). We're certain that he'll pick things up quickly and learn from his early mistakes. There is no need to get up in arms about Lawrence having some issues this early on in his pro career. He's got the upside to one day be the best quarterback in the league. Let's see how quickly he can play up to that potential.|
Jaguars | Tim Tebow to Be Their Taysom Hill? Fri May 28, 03:14 PM
Diana Rusinni, from ESPN, said on Friday "There are people in camp right now who strongly believe the reason why Urban Meyer brought Tim Tebow in is not to play tight end, but actually to use him in that utility role, that Taysom Hill role that we see Sean Payton use in New Orleans."
|Footballguys view: Tebow can play as a banger between the tackles, taking snaps as a Wildcat quarterback where he can run up the gut. If he gets this type of role near pay dirt, it will negatively impact the fantasy value of Jaguars RBs like James Robinson. With Tebow getting quarterback snaps, it would also take away some opportunities from rookie no.1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence. We'll see if there's a glimpse of this role for Tebow in preseason and training camp.|

Jaguars | No restrictions for Trevor Lawrence? Thu May 27, 09:30 PM

Jaguars | Tim Tebow terms Fri May 21, 12:00 PM
Updating previous reports, Jacksonville Jaguars TE Tim Tebow received a one-year, $920,000 deal with no guaranteed money and an injury split.
|Footballguys view: As expected, Tebow is no sure thing to make the team, and perhaps even an underdog when you consider that he has been away from the game for eight years. He generates headlines in much greater abundance than relevant football stories, although if Tebow does make the team, he could gum up the works in the red zone offense in a Taysom Hill-esque role. He won't have fantasy value of his own, but Tebow could destroy the fantasy value of others.|
Tim Tebow player page
Jaguars | Luke Farrell under contract Thu May 20, 03:15 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars fifth-round draft choice TE Luke Farrell signed a four-year contract with the Jaguars Thursday, May 20. Financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Farrell is more blocking tight end than receiving tight end, but he wasn't used much as a receiver at Ohio State. The Jaguars have a hole at tight end and Urban Meyer coached and recruited him in college, so expect some playing time for the rookie as soon as he is ready.|
Jaguars | Tim Tebow officially to Jags Thu May 20, 09:51 AM
Free-agent TE Tim Tebow (Jets) signed an undisclosed deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars Thursday, May 20.
|Footballguys view: Opinions about Tebow's chance to make the team are all over the map, but the Jaguars don't have much at tight end and Tebow can add value as a gadget quarterback and quasi-coach/tone setter for Urban Meyer, so don't be surprised if he suits up against the Texans Week 1.|

Jaguars | Ryquell Armstead cut Mon May 17, 03:20 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Ryquell Armstead was waived Monday, May 17.
|Footballguys view: Armstead was forced to miss the 2020 season due to complications with COVID-19, but there should be teams willing to take a look at him. In 2019, Armstead flashed a bit as the direct backup to Leonard Fournette. We'll see if he can find a new team in the near future.|

Jaguars | Jalen Camp signs first contract Mon May 17, 03:13 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars sixth-round draft choice WR Jalen Camp signed a four-year contract with the Jaguars Monday, May 17. Financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Camp has freaky size/speed/strength and that's why the Jaguars took a shot on him with a late-round pick. His routes are rounded and lack nuance, but the natural ability is there once he hones that part of his game. Camp can contribute on special teams and that's his best bet to make the 53-man roster as a rookie.|
