NFL | Hunter Long the total package Thu Apr 15, 10:17 PM
Boston College TE Hunter Long 's 57 receptions in 2020 led all FBS tight ends, and ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. believes Long could be the second tight end selected in the 2021 NFL Draft. 'He's a complete tight end, and we know NFL teams covet those players,' Kiper said.
|Footballguys view: Long is your classic "Y" tight end who reminds some in the scouting community of former Steelers tight end Heath Miller. He is reliable and can take on a large target load for any team that drafts him.|
NFL | Big plays common for Kyle Pitts Wed Apr 14, 03:34 PM
Florida TE Kyle Pitts made 100 catches over the course of his college career, 45 percent of which went for at least 15 yards. That percentage was the highest among tight ends in the 2021 NFL Draft, according to Pro Football Focus.
|Footballguys view: Pitts is a big-bodied receiver who plays tight end. He reminds some in the scouting community of Darren Waller (Raiders) because of his ability to get open against any coverage. Pitts should be a top-5 pick in the draft and could make an instant impact for his team.|
Browns | Stephen Carlson inks deal with Browns Wed Apr 14, 01:37 PM
Exclusive rights free-agent TE Stephen Carlson (Browns) signed an undisclosed contract with the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday, April 14.Link to story
NFL | Pat Freiermuth had sticky hands inside 20 Tue Apr 13, 10:38 PM
Penn State TE Pat Freiermuth was not charged with a drop on 30 red zone targets over his three-year college career, according to Pro Football Focus.
|Footballguys view: Freiermuth has earned the nickname "Baby Gronk" for a reason. He's big, athletic and knows how to use his frame to shield defenders away from the ball. Add in his elite concentration in the red zone and you can see why he's one of the top tight ends in this draft class. There's a chance he goes off the board late first, or early second round.|
Falcons | Kyle Pitts destined for Atlanta? Tue Apr 13, 09:12 PM
Florida TE Kyle Pitts is gaining traction to be the first non-quarterback drafted April 29, as 'many around the league anticipate' the Atlanta Falcons will select him at No. 4 overall, according to Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald.
|Footballguys view: If the Falcons keep the no.4 pick, Pitts would be a great addition. He's one of the best tight ends to come into the NFL from the college ranks and that's why he may be drafted higher than any tight end in NFL history. The game has changed, and teams want big-bodied receivers like Pitts at tight end. Think of Darren Waller (Raiders) when you think about the impact Pitts could have in the NFL.|

Falcons | Five players on ATL draft radar Fri Apr 9, 01:12 PM
Oregon OT Penei Sewell, Florida TE Kyle Pitts, Ohio State QB Justin Fields, LSU WR Ja'Marr Chase and Alabama CB Patrick Surtain II are on the Atlanta Falcons' draft radar screen if they retain the No. 4 overall pick, according to a report Friday, April 9.
|Footballguys view: All of these players would be interesting for Atlanta...and some of them might be there if the Falcons decide to trade back. Fields could be a perfect quarterback to groom behind Matt Ryan for a year and then take over the franchise. Pitts is a playmaking tight end (think Darren Waller) who could make an instant impact on any offense.|
Cowboys | Jerry Jones loves Kyle Pitts Fri Apr 9, 10:19 AM
Florida TE Kyle Pitts has Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones' attention as Jones is infatuated with him. The Cowboys would consider moving up from the 10th overall pick to get him, according to Chris Mortensen of ESPN.
|Footballguys view: Pitts is one of the most exciting players in this class and he'd make the Cowboys offense even more high powered than it already is. He might be going off the board at no.4 overall so if Jones loves him he will likely have to move up to get him.|
Bills | Jesse James on Buffalo's radar Thu Apr 8, 09:57 PM

Cowboys | Jeremy Sprinkle headed to Dallas Wed Apr 7, 03:11 PM
Free-agent TE Jeremy Sprinkle (Washington) reportedly agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday, April 7. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Jerry Jones loves his Arkansas Razorbacks (that's his alma mater). Sprinkle, a fifth-round pick out of Arkansas back in 2017 hasn't done much in the pros. In 2020, Sprinkle barely saw the field for Washington playing only 219 snaps and getting three targets that he turned into one catch for six yards. Staying in the NFC East and now with the Cowboys, Sprinkle will serve as a reserve behind Blake Jarwin and Dalton Schultz.|

NFL | Kenny Yeboah pulls hamstring Sun Apr 4, 08:45 PM
Mississippi TE Kenny Yeboah (hamstring) suffered a hamstring injury during his first attempt at the 40-yard dash at the Ole Miss Pro Day.
|Footballguys view: Yeboah is basically a super-sized wide receiver who plays tight end. He's got length and agility as a receiver, plus he can play 'above the rim' and gather in passes that are out of reach of smaller defenders. He'll be a mid-round pick with upside and one we'll certainly monitor in dynasty formats.|
Dolphins | Mike Gesicki may be trade option Sun Apr 4, 05:12 PM
Miami Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki could be a candidate to be traded if the Dolphins decide to select Florida TE Kyle Pitts in the 2021 NFL Draft, in the opinion of The Miami Herald's Barry Jackson.
|Footballguys view: The Pitts to the Dolphins rumblings just started this weekend. It doesn't mean it's not true, it's just interesting to note the timing. Pitts could be off the board at no.4 overall to the Falcons, so if the Dolphins really want him then they'd have to move up. If they did add Pitts then Gesicki would be a player they could get rid of, perhaps for a premium pick.|

Dolphins | Miami eyeing Kyle Pitts at No. 6? Sat Apr 3, 01:01 PM
Former University of Florida TE and 2021 NFL Draft prospect Kyle Pitts is a prime target for the Miami Dolphins with the sixth-overall selection in the first round, according to Pro Football Focus.
|Footballguys view: Is Pitts even going to be on the board? The Falcons at no.4 overall seem to have their eye on the super-sized wide receiver who plays tight end. Pitts is a fine talent and could have an impact immediately in the NFL.|
Seahawks | Gerald Everett looking to work with new QB Fri Apr 2, 04:10 PM
Seattle Seahawks TE Gerald Everett said he has talked with QB Russell Wilson about working out with him this offseason.
|Footballguys view: Wilson does work out quite a bit during the offseason and Everett should be able to get together on several occasions outside the facility. If Everett hits on his potential, there is TE1 ability to his game. It's best to draft him as a high-upside TE2 and Everett has a current ADP of TE25 (14.01) in 12-team PPR leagues.|

49ers | George Kittle's 2022 salary guaranteed Thu Apr 1, 08:14 AM
San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle's 2022 salary of $11.45 million became guaranteed Thursday, April 1.
|Footballguys view: Kittle is one of the best tight ends in the game so long as he's healthy. The 49ers may have a change at quarterback in 2021, but whoever is throwing the rock is going to target Kittle early and often.|

Falcons | Atlanta showing interest in Kyle Pitts Wed Mar 31, 03:14 PM
Florida TE Kyle Pitts told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's D. Orlando Ledbetter that the Atlanta Falcons met with him twice over Zoom before his pro day Wednesday, March 31, and are scheduled to do so again.
|Footballguys view: Every team should be interested in Pitts. He's a super-sized wide receiver who plays tight end and creates nightmares for any defender tasked with covering him. Pitts could step in and start from day 1 in the NFL. He's a top-5 talent in this draft class, and the Falcons may be eyeing him with the no.4 overall pick.|
NFL | More on Kyle Pitts' pro day Wed Mar 31, 02:47 PM
Updating a previous report, Florida TE Kyle Pitts checked in at 6-foot-5 and 245 pounds with 10 5/8-inch hands, 33 1/2-inch arms and an 83 3/8-inch wingspan at his pro day Wednesday, March 31.Link to story
NFL | Kyle Pitts runs the 40 Wed Mar 31, 12:54 PM
Florida TE Kyle Pitts ran the 40-yard dash at the Florida Pro Day Wednesday, March 31, and it was believed to be 4.44 seconds.
|Footballguys view: Pitts is one of the best players in this draft class regardless of position. He's a super-sized wide receiver who is going to be tough to cover for linebackers or safeties at the pro level. Even cornerbacks tasked with covering him will have trouble because of his size and ability to rip away passes. Pitts could be a top-10 pick in the draft and could have an immediate impact for his NFL team...making him quite fantasy relevant for 2021 and the future.|
Buccaneers | O.J. Howard update Wed Mar 31, 12:10 PM
Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard (Achilles') will be ready by the start of the offseason program, according to head coach Bruce Arians.
|Footballguys view: Good news for Howard here. Ready for the offseason program doesn't mean "full steam ahead" for the veteran tight end. Instead, the team should ease him back into action with a plan for him to be near full participation by training camp.|

NFL | Hunter Long pro day results Tue Mar 30, 11:23 PM
Boston College TE Hunter Long checked in at 6-foot-5 and 253 pounds at his pro day Friday, March 26. Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard (Achilles) is 'real close' to fully recovering from the torn Achilles that ended his season in Week 4, according to head coach Bruce Arians.
|Footballguys view: We should see Howard limited in the offseason as the team eases him back into action. Howard has yet to run on grass, but he has also not experienced any setbacks. They should ramp him up as training camp gets here.|

NFL | Brevin Jordan runs at Pro Day Mon Mar 29, 01:58 PM
Miami TE Brevin Jordan posted unofficial times of 4.66 seconds and 4.64 seconds in the 40-yard dash at his Pro Day Monday, March 29.
|Footballguys view: Jordan is one of the best tight ends in this draft class. He's an "F" tight end and should be a receiving threat to the deep middle seam in the NFL. Jordan can be moved all over the formation to attack the defense as a receiver, so lining up in-line, in the slot or out wide is not a problem. Look for him to be a second-round pick in the 2021 NFL draft.|
Jets | NYJ had interest in Jonnu Smith Sun Mar 28, 11:49 AM
The New York Jets had expressed interest in former Tennessee Titans TE Jonnu Smith during free agency before he ultimately decided to sign with the New England Patriots.
|Footballguys view: That would have made a lot of sense. Chris Herndon is their lead tight end right now and he's talented but struggles to stay on the field due to injuries. We'll see if they address the position with a premium pick (second round?) in the 2021 NFL draft.|

Titans | Delanie Walker unlikely to return Sat Mar 27, 04:23 PM
Free-agent TE Delanie Walker (Titans) probably will not return to the Tennessee Titans this offseason, in the opinion of TennesseeTitans.com's Jim Wyatt.

Free-agent TE Nick Vannett (Broncos) is signing a three-year contract with the New Orleans Saints, according to a source Wednesday, March 24. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
|Footballguys view: That didn't take long. Vannett was just released by the Broncos a couple of days ago and the Saints scoop him up. He's a big-bodied 'Y' tight end who can work as a blocker or receiver. Vannett won't produce much as a reserve tight end with the Saints. Second-year pro Adam Trautman is set to be the primary tight end for the Saints in 2021.|

Broncos | Nick Vannett released Tue Mar 23, 12:29 PM
Denver Broncos TE Nick Vannett was released Tuesday, March 23.

Chiefs | Nick Keizer staying home Mon Mar 22, 07:53 PM
Free-agent TE Nick Keizer (Chiefs) reportedly agreed to terms on a one-year contract to return to the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday, March 22. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Undrafted out of Grand Valley State in 2018, Keizer is mostly a special teams player. He's the no.2 tight end for the Chiefs behind Travis Kelce once again for the 2021 season.|
Bills | Rob Gronkowski talked with Buffalo Mon Mar 22, 04:31 PM
Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Rob Gronkowski said the Buffalo Bills were one of the teams he talked to before he decided to re-sign with the Buccaneers.
|Footballguys view: The Bills were looking for tight end help during free agency. The Patriots are the team which ended up with the top TEs available (Hunter Henry, Jonnu Smith) but the Bills checked in with Gronkowski. They did add Jacob Hollister (a favorite target of QB Josh Allen at Wyoming) but not the top-tier talent some thought they would get.|

Panthers | Dan Arnold headed to Carolina Fri Mar 19, 09:27 PM
Free-agent TE Dan Arnold (Cardinals) agreed to terms on a two-year, $6 million deal with the Carolina Panthers Friday, March 19, according to a source.
|Footballguys view: Arnold is reconnected with Panthers OC Joe Brady from their days together with the Saints. He's 'meh' as a blocker but the receiving skills are there for him to have fantasy appeal as potentially the no.1 tight end for the Panthers. We'll see Arnold and Ian Thomas compete for that spot in training camp.|
