Bengals | A.J. Green focused on health    Mon Aug 10, 10:42 PM

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green has dedicated much of his offseason training to injury avoidance, including working with a former acquaintance, Reza Hesam, who co-founded Adapt Physical Therapy, which focuses on injury prevention in addition to working on performance.

Footballguys view: Green is playing on the one-year franchise tag for the Bengals. He wants to stay with the team and wants to continue with them for another four years. In order to do that, Green needs to stay healthy and play at a high level. That's his usual level so long as he's at or near full strength.

Free-agent DT Mike Daniels (Lions) likely will be the No. 3 defensive tackle for the Cincinnati Bengals if he signs with them.

Bengals | Joe Mixon poised for great things in 2020?    Mon Aug 10, 01:48 PM

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon 'could be as well-positioned as Christian McCaffrey was a year ago to explode,' according to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora. According to La Canfora, head coach Zac Taylor 'truly began to understand and appreciate' Mixon's ability over the second half of last season and intends to lean on him heavily in 2020.

Footballguys view: The Bengals offense projects to be more exciting with rookie no.1 overall pick QB Joe Burrow at the helm. Burrow is a great passer but expect the team to run the ball with Mixon early and often to take the pressure off the rookie. Mixon has been a top-12 fantasy running back each of the last two seasons, and that will once again be the case. He's a late first- or early second-round pick in fantasy drafts right now.

Bengals | A.J. Green impressing    Mon Aug 10, 11:41 AM

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green impressed teammates with his athleticism last week. 'We're just running routes and haven't gone full speed against the defense,' said tight end C.J. Uzomah, who had to laugh at sophomore tight end Drew Sample's reaction when they ran routes. 'Drew only saw him last year for, what, that first practice? He said, 'I forgot how explosive he is.' I told him, 'You haven't seen the half of it yet.''

Footballguys view: We're keeping our fingers crossed that Green can look like his old self. Green is playing on the one-year franchise tag but wants to stay with the Bengals with one more contract. Playing like he used to would be a boost for the offense, and Green should become a favorite target of rookie QB Joe Burrow.

Bengals | Mike Daniels expected to join Bengals    Sun Aug 9, 03:23 PM

Free-agent DT Mike Daniels (Lions) is meeting with the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday, Aug. 9, and is expected to sign with the team, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Daniels could provide some rotational snaps behind Geno Atkins and DJ Reader, but his profile has fallen greatly since the Packers released him at the open of camp last year and he then failed to make an impact for the Lions.

Bengals | A.J. Green working to avoid injuries    Sat Aug 8, 11:06 PM

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green said his training regiment is designed to help him avoid the injuries he has dealt with the last couple of seasons. 'We did more stuff in testing those ankles, strengthen those ankles, strengthen these toes, learning how to land better,' Green said. 'Just little things like that I didn't do in previous years.'

Footballguys view: Green has missed some or all of the season due to leg/foot injuries three of the last four years, but he has still been an elite fantasy option when he is on the field. His ADP isn't that different than it was at this time last year, when we already knew that he was injured and going to miss some regular season time.

Bengals | Joe Mixon may see more targets    Fri Aug 7, 06:16 PM

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon may receive a bigger role in the passing game this season, according to offensive coordinator Brian Callahan.

Footballguys view: Mixon should have had a larger role in the passing game last year but was still less involved than many of his lead back peers. If the Bengals offense improves with the addition of Joe Burrow, Jonah Williams, and return of AJ Green, and Mixon gets more targets, he could be a top five fantasy running back this year.

Bengals | Brandon Allen, Tristan Vizcaino sign    Sat Aug 1, 01:24 PM

Free agent QB Brandon Allen (Broncos) and PK Tristan Vizcaino (Cowboys) agreed to terms Saturday, Aug. 1, with the Cincinnati Bengals..

Footballguys view: Allen was in for the Broncos last year as a starter for a couple of games but really struggled. He's most likely going to be a camp arm for the Bengals and try to latch on as a reserve behind 2020 no.1 overall pick Joe Burrow.

Bengals | Joe Burrow officially signs    Fri Jul 31, 05:52 PM

Cincinnati Bengals first-round draft choice QB Joe Burrow officially signed a four-year contract with the Bengals Friday, July 31. Official financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Burrow could be the Bengals franchise quarterback they've been searching for. He's incredibly accurate as a passer and his pass placement is among the best of anyone who throws a football. Burrow does a great job of putting the ball in place where his receivers can make the most after the catch. He's got some talented pass-catchers around him at the wide receiver position and RB Joe Mixon is there to soften up defenses. Burrow is a QB2 with upside for Fantasy GMs in 2020.

Free-agent QB Brandon Allen (Broncos) is expected to sign with the Cincinnati Bengals this weekend, according to a source. He is undergoing a physical and COVID-19 testing with the team.

Footballguys view: Allen did start a couple of games for the Broncos last year and was not good. He's a veteran with some experience but really a camp arm and that's about it.

Bengals | Tee Higgins gets deal done    Tue Jul 28, 04:26 PM

Cincinnati Bengals second-round pick WR Tee Higgins signed his four-year rookie contract Tuesday, July 28. Financial terms weren't disclosed.

Footballguys view: Higgins has incredible natural talent, reminding some in the scouting community of Broncos WR Courtland Sutton. He's got the size, wingspan and 'my ball' mentality to be a threat on deep passes or in the red zone. Higgins will work as a reserve receiver for the Bengals this year behind A.J. Green and Tyler Boyd.

Bengals | Joe Burrow agrees to rookie contract    Tue Jul 28, 02:06 PM

Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow agreed to terms Tuesday, July 28, on a four-year, $36 million rookie contract. The deal is fully guaranteed, and he'll receive $23.9 million in signing bonus money. Cincinnati has a team option for a fifth year, per NFL rules.

Footballguys view: The Bengals hope they finally found a true franchise quarterback in Burrow. His skill set is outstanding, as Burrow plays with high intelligence and uncanny pass placement. He's smart, accurate and more athletic than some would think. They've got a solid group of weapons around him in the passing game and RB Joe Mixon is there to soften up defenses. Fantasy GMs will likely be streaming Burrow this year as a matchup-based quarterback.

Bengals | A.J. Green excited for offense    Sat Jul 25, 01:11 PM

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green said recently he has yet to meet new Bengals QB Joe Burrow in person, but he was quick to add that he is excited about the team's offensive talent and says he doesn't expect it to take long for everyone to get on the same page. 'A lot of people play into the (narrative of) 'how long does it take to get clicking,' ' Green said. 'We're all football players doing this for a long time. (Andy Dalton) and I came in in 2011 and we went 9-7, and we didn't have any kind of expectations. I feel like when you have the No. 1 pick, and what we did in free agency and me coming back, (Tyler Boyd) is coming back, John (Ross), Tee (Higgins) and all these pieces that we added on defense, I feel like the talent level that we have now is way different than what we had in 2011.'

Footballguys view: Green should be excited because the Bengals have the makings of an exciting offense, especially with 2020 no.1 overall pick Joe Burrow slinging the rock. Green is going to play 2020 on the franchise tag and is set to be a free agent in 2021. The superstar veteran receiver has stated previously that he wants to play four more years and retire a Bengal. We'll see if the two sides can work something out to make that happen after this season.

Bengals | Darius Phillips should have solid role    Fri Jul 24, 07:34 PM

Cincinnati Bengals CB Darius Phillips should receive a solid amount of playing time this season since he led the team in interceptions last season.

Bengals | Shawn Williams an option at LB?    Fri Jul 24, 07:33 PM

Cincinnati Bengals S Shawn Williams could receive some snaps at linebacker this season.

Footballguys view: Williams might be the odd man out at safety with Vonn Bell signed in the offseason, but the inexperience at linebacker for the Bengals gives Williams a path to snaps as a lot more teams are putting three safeties on the field by including one in a quasi-linebacker role.

Bengals | Germaine Pratt likely to start    Fri Jul 24, 07:29 PM

Cincinnati Bengals LB Germaine Pratt likely will be one of the starting inside linebackers in the team's base nickel defense.

Footballguys view: IDP leaguers take notice. Pratt had a promising rookie year and could be a three-down linebacker. Rookie third-round pick Logan Wilson could also be a starter and instant hit in IDP leagues if he can beat out Josh Bynes.

Bengals | Khalid Kareem inks rookie deal    Thu Jul 23, 04:03 PM

Cincinnati Bengals fifth-round pick DE Khalid Kareem signed his four-year rookie contract Thursday, July 23. Financial terms weren't disclosed.

Footballguys view: Kareem played both defensive end and defensive tackle in college at Notre Dame. He is a quality run-defender and brings power and moves as a pass-rusher. We'll see how Kareem can work his way up the depth chart with the Bengals.

Bengals | Four rookies sign in Cincy    Tue Jul 21, 04:19 PM

Cincinnati Bengals third-round pick LB Logan Wilson, fourth-round pick LB Akeem Davis-Gaither, sixth-round pick OL Hakeem Adeniji and seventh-round pick LB Markus Bailey signed their four-year rookie contracts Tuesday, July 21. Financial terms of the deals were undisclosed.

Footballguys view: Wilson is the player to watch here. A former secondary player in high school, Wilson did a great job of snaring interceptions in his college career at Wyoming. Wilson is a smart player, a known leader and a guy who just doesn't quit against the run or in coverage. He could be a fine starter for the Bengals.

Bengals | Alex Erickson may not make team    Fri Jul 17, 05:33 PM

Cincinnati Bengals WR Alex Erickson could be on the roster bubble during training camp since the team added WRs Tee Higgins and Scotty Washington this offseason. The team would save $1.9 million in salary cap space if Erickson were released.

Footballguys view: Erickson contributes on special teams and has had a role on offense at times, but if A.J. Green and John Ross are healthy, he could be out of a roster spot in a numbers crunch.

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green on Friday, July 17, signed his one-year franchise tender and is expected to report on time to camp.

Footballguys view: Yannick Ngakoue is the last franchise tag player to not sign his tender. Green said today that his plan is to play four more years and retire a Bengal.

Bengals | No new deal for A.J. Green    Wed Jul 15, 04:20 PM

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green did not reach a long-term agreement with the Bengals before the July 15 deadline and will play under the one-year franchise tag tender offer.

Footballguys view: As expected Green will play under the one year, 17.86 million dollar contract. If he stays healthy, he'll be a steal at current ADP, but Green hasn't done that for the last two years.

Bengals | CIN uncertain if A.J. Green will agree to extension    Sun Jul 12, 11:25 AM

It remains unknown if Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green will sign his franchise tag or agree to a long-term deal before the NFL deadline for contract extensions Wednesday, July 15, at 4 p.m. ET, according to multiple sources.

Footballguys view: The Bengals haven't seemed too interested to give Green more than a year commitment unless he is willing to take a discount from his previous earnings level. Perhaps his body is too beat up to get back to form, but Green was one of the best in the game before his injury, so it's understandable if he feels he deserves a long term deal from the only team he has played for in the NFL.

Bengals | Life good in the slot for Tyler Boyd    Thu Jul 2, 10:28 PM

Cincinnati Bengals WR Tyler Boyd finished with 776 receiving yards out of the slot in 2019 - the third-highest total in the league - according to Pro Football Focus.

Footballguys view: Boyd could feast with Joe Burrow at quarterback after Justin Jefferson had a breakout year with Burrow at LSU last year. He is underrated in PPR leagues right now despite producing through some rough offensive seas last year. The return of AJ Green could actually help Boyd as he has performed well with Green on the field in the past.

Bengals | Jacques Patrick may have role    Sat Jun 27, 06:12 PM

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jacques Patrick could have a role in certain offensive packages this season if he makes the team, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Ben Baby.

Footballguys view: Patrick was undrafted out of Florida State in 2019. He didn't stick in the NFL as a UDFA but was selected in the XFL draft by the Tampa Bay Vipers. He was the third leading rusher in the XFL with 254 yards rushing on 60 carries with two touchdowns. He was a backup to Dalvin Cook his first couple of seasons for the Seminoles but didn't really explode onto the scene when he took over the starting job and declared for the draft as an underclassmen. There's untapped potential here with Patrick, so we will continue monitoring him in crazy deep dynasty formats.

Bengals | A.J. Green has not signed tender yet    Mon Jun 22, 06:16 PM

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green has not signed his one-year franchise tag tender offer at this point. The two sides have until July 15 to reach a long-term agreement.

Footballguys view: We'll see what happens in mid-July. Deals get done at deadlines but there seems to be little traction between Green and the Bengals. Having him out there in 2020 and beyond would greatly help the development of young quarterback Joe Burrow.

Bengals | Joe Burrow has impressed    Mon Jun 22, 10:34 AM

Cincinnati Bengals No. 1 overall draft pick QB Joe Burrow has impressed head coach Zac Taylor with his preparation for meetings and mental acumen. 'He's been great,' Taylor said. 'As advertised is the best way to put it. You can tell he spends a lot of time on his own being prepared with questions and he's doing a great job taking ownership, which is important for a quarterback to do, and he's doing everything he can to own this offense. Been really impressed with him, but not surprised.'

Footballguys view: There is no doubt that Burrow has the upside to be a franchise quarterback for the Bengals, and he's going to start from day one. We're excited to see how his skills translate to the pro level. Burrow is not only accurate as a passer, but his pass placement is uncanny. He's got great weapons around him in the passing game and a strong rushing attack. Burrow is a low-end QB2 with upside for Fantasy GMs in 2020.

Bengals | C.J. Uzomah didn't stray far downfield in 2019    Sun Jun 14, 07:30 PM

Cincinnati Bengals TE C.J. Uzomah's depth of reception average of 3.8 yards was the lowest by any receiver or tight end with at least 40 targets in 2019, according to Sports Info Solutions.

Footballguys view: Uzomah is the top tight end for the Bengals. However, there's not a ton of fantasy value here as he doesn't provide much before or after the catch. Uzomah is a low-end TE3 for Fantasy GMs in 2020.
