Cincinnati Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase caught two passes for 26 yards against the Cleveland Browns in Week 1. He was targeted five times during the game.
Footballguys view: No poor fantasy result from Week 1 hurt more than Chase's. He was the consensus #1 fantasy pick and barely made a dent in the box score. We'll have to keep him in the lineup no matter what - he and Burrow can make the most of small opportunity against less stout defenses than the Browns - but there's no way Chase would be drafted #1 if we picked our teams now. |

Cincinnati Bengals TE Noah Fant caught four passes for 26 yards and one touchdown against the Cleveland Browns in Week 1. He was targeted five times during the game.
Footballguys view: Fant caught Joe Burrow's only touchdown and he was targeted more than Mike Gesicki. In fact, Fant tied Ja'Marr Chase for the team lead in targets. That could have been affected by the Browns making life hard for the downfield passing game, but Fant is still on our potential waiver wire pickup list with George Kittle and Brock Bowers not sure things for Week 2. |

Cincinnati Bengals WR Tee Higgins caught three passes for 33 yards against the Cleveland Browns in Week 1. He was targeted four times during the game.
Footballguys view: The Bengals struggled in the second half on offense, and for the entire game on defense. They only won because of the Browns self-inflicted wounds in the kicking game. No Bengals offensive player came in near expectations, including Higgins. We'll give him another shot against the Jaguars next week, but with Vikings and Broncos up in Weeks 3 and 4, we'll have to consider benching him if Week 2 is another dud. |

Cincinnati Bengals RB Chase Brown rushed for 43 yards and one touchdown on 21 carries against the Cleveland Browns in Week 1. He caught two passes for eight yards during the game.
Footballguys view: Brown couldn't get anything going in the running game and wasn't used much in the passing game on a very poor afternoon for the Bengals offense. The Browns defense is good and deserves credit, but the Bengals defense had trouble getting off of the field against an anemic offense led by 40-year-old Joe Flacco, which gave the Bengals offense fewer drives to work with. Brown is still an everyweek fantasy starter, but this was a very discouraging game. |

Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow went 14-for-23 for 113 yards and one touchdown against the Cleveland Browns in Week 1.
Footballguys view: The Browns defense is pretty good and they tend to limit Burrow's production. He also started slow against the Patriots last year. Still, this is positively anemic, and the culprit is actually the Bengals defense. The Browns offense is underwhelming and destined to be a bottom five unit, but they still possessed the ball for almost 36 minutes against Cincinnati. What are actual NFL offenses going to do against the Bengals defense? What will the Jaguars do against them next week? If the game script is similar to this one, it's time to get worried. |

Free-agent QB Brett Rypien (Vikings), RB Gary Brightwell (Bengals), RB Kendall Milton (Bengals), WR Jordan Moore (Bengals) and WR Isaiah Williams (Bengals) were signed to the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad Wednesday, Aug. 27.
Footballguys view: Williams was undrafted out of Illinois in 2024, but he made the Lions final roster after coming aboard as a priority free agent after the draft. Now with the Bengals, the speed and playmaking ability as a returner keep us interested but only in super deep dynasty formats. |

Link to storyTrey Hendrickson's contract situation is resolved. The star pass rusher will get a $14 million raise from the Cincinnati Bengals for this season, boosting his 2025 salary to $30 million, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Monday. Hendrickson is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after this season.
Footballguys view: Before receiving the raise, Hendrickson was set to earn $16 million this season. He had not participated in any offseason workouts, including the entirety of training camp, while seeking a new deal with the club. He has insisted that he would not play this season under the contract. Hendrickson, 30, is coming off his best season in the NFL. He had 17.5 sacks last season, which led the league. Hendrickson was also named to The Associated Press All-Pro team and reached the Pro Bowl for the fourth straight season. |

Link to storyCincinnati Bengals WR Tee Higgins (ankle) suffered an apparent ankle injury during practice on Thursday, Aug. 21, according to Fox19 sports reporter Jeremy Rauch. Higgins went to the sidelines for treatment, causing some concern, but he returned to practice a few plays later, according to Rauch.
Footballguys view: Good news for the Bengals here. The defense should struggle again in 2025, so that means Joe Burrow and offense need to do everything for a team that has designs of making a postseason run. Higgins is going to be a big part of what the team does through the air with teammate WR Ja'Marr Chase. While Chase is WR1 in current ADP, Higgins is aptly placed at WR12. |
