Dallas Cowboys WR KaVontae Turpin (neck) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 18.
Footballguys view: Neck injuries can be tricky to deal with. It's a good sign that Turpin is out there as a full participant. With Dak Prescott lighting it up through the air, Turpin has some 'what the heck' flex appeal for Fantasy GMs. |
Dallas Cowboys CB DaRon Bland (foot) and CB Trevon Diggs (illness) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 17. OT Tyler Guyton (shoulder) and WR KaVontae Turpin (neck) were limited during practice. The Cowboys only held a walkthrough Wednesday, so the report is an estimation.

Dallas Cowboys WR KaVontae Turpin (neck) was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 17. The Cowboys only held a walkthrough Wednesday, so this is an estimation.
Footballguys view: Turpin was having a good game in Week 2 against the Giants before suffering this neck injury. Let's see if this keeps him out of action against the Bears in Week 3. Turpin can make plays, but a limited role on offense means he's just a 'what the heck' flex in deeper leagues. |
Dallas Cowboys WR KaVontae Turpin (neck) has received some positive tests results on his injured neck and hopefully will be available for the Week 3 game, according to head coach Brian Schottenheimer.
Link to storyDallas Cowboys C Cooper Beebe (ankle) will miss six-to-eight weeks with a high ankle sprain suffered in Week 2. Based on the testing, the team is hopeful for the six-week end.
Footballguys view: Beebe was on the field for 73 of Dallas' 89 offensive snaps in Sunday's victory over the Giants. He was replaced by Brock Hoffman, who is likely to retain the center job in Beebe's absence. The Cowboys will be on the road to face the Bears in Week 3. |
Dallas Cowboys LB Kenneth Murray played all 67 defensive snaps in Week 2 against the New York Giants. Murray had five solo tackles and two assists.

Dallas Cowboys CB Kaiir Elam posted nine tackles (six solo) in a Week 2 win over the New York Giants.
Link to storyDallas Cowboys TE Jake Ferguson caught nine of his team-high 12 targets for 78 yards in Week 2 against the New York Giants.
Link to storyDallas Cowboys WR KaVontae Turpin (neck) caught all four of his targets for 47 yards and a touchdown and ran for six yards on two carries in Week 2 against the New York Giants before leaving with a neck injury.
Footballguys view: It appears Turpin avoided serious injury, according to NFL Network's Jane Slater. He was wearing a neck brace, according to her, though. Slater noted that Turpin's x-rays came out good, which is the most important thing. The Cowboys will surely provide some updates on Turpin as the week moves along. We'll follow up as the week progresses. |
Dallas Cowboys WR George Pickens hauled in five of his nine targets for 68 yards and a touchdown in Week 2 versus the New York Giants.

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott finished 38-of-52 for 361 yards and two touchdowns with one interception in Week 2 versus the New York Giants. Prescott also added 17 yards rushing on three attempts.
Footballguys view: Prescott didn't really start clicking with his receivers until the second quarter, but more than made up for lost time in the instant classic 40-37 overtime win. He'll face a Bears defense next week that just gave up a fiftyburger to the Lions in Week 2, so he's a solid fantasy QB1 for Week 3. |

Dallas Cowboys RB KaVontae Turpin (neck) left the Week 2 game against the New York Giants due to a neck injury. He is considered questionable to return.
Footballguys view: Turpin had four catches and 47 yards and a score and added six yards as a runner before leaving with the neck injury. He said after the game that X-rays were clear, but that the team had him in a neck brace. It's not clear if he'll be able to play next week against the Bears, but his absence should not be long if he is out. |
The Dallas Cowboys wanted to sign free-agent LB Jadeveon Clowney (Browns) during his visit last week but he said that he would like to wait before signing a deal with a new team, according to 105.3 The Fan's Bryan Broaddus. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer has continued to maintain contact with Clowney.

Dallas Cowboys CB DaRon Bland (foot) won't play Week 2 against the New York Giants, according to head coach Brian Schottenheimer. The Dallas coach was noncommittal about Bland returning for Week 3, but said he doesn't believe Bland will need a stint on injured reserve, reported Jon Machota of The Athletic.
Footballguys view: Against other offenses, the loss of Bland could be a big deal. Against the Giants, it probably won't matter. After watching how easily the Packers moved the ball through the air against the Commanders - who held the Giants to six points - the Cowboys defense should be ok without Bland. |

Jaydon Blue was expected to compete for a starting job with the Cowboys after they turned over their running backs room. Instead, the fifth-round pick was a healthy scratch in Week 1. Blue, whose work habits were questioned in the offseason by a former Cowboys offensive assistant in the know, has not earned the right to play, coach Brian Schottenheimer said. "He really is talented," Schottenheimer said, "but there is a way you have to perform, especially with a mantra of compete every day. If you're not putting it out there and doing right every day and if you take a step back on a Thursday -- maybe you did great on Wednesday but on Thursday, not saying he did -- that's going to get noticed."
Footballguys view: Schottenheimer all but said it will be up to Blue when he makes his Cowboys debut. "Some of the young guys that were inactive, we've had some of those hard conversations with them," Schottenheimer said. "They understand where they need to go. I have no question that they will respond to that. Will that be this week? I don't know. We'll see." It's possible that Miles Sanders' costly red-zone fumble in the third quarter in the Week 1 loss to the Eagles may have opened the door for Blue to play this week. |
Dallas Cowboys DT Perrion Winfrey (back) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Sept. 8.
Link to storyDallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott is not expected to face any discipline from the National Football League for his role in a spitting incident with Philadelphia Eagles DT Jalen Carter Thursday, Sept. 4.
Footballguys view: Prescott tried to sell the story that he spits all over the place all the time and that he was not aiming towards Carter or any Eagles player. While that's difficult to believe, the NFL cannot rule on Prescott's intentions. |

Dallas Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb worked with a JUGS machine Friday, Sept. 5, after dropping three passes during the Week 1 game, according to head coach Brian Schottenheimer.

Link to storyDallas Cowboys WR KaVontae Turpin had two receptions (on two targets) for 18 yards against the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday, Sept. 4. He also added nine yards on two carries.
Link to storyDallas Cowboys RB Javonte Williams carried the ball 15 times for 54 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the team's 24-20 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday, Sept. 4. Williams was targeted three times as a receiver, catching two for 10 yards.
Footballguys view: Williams ran with a lot of determination and power and led a game plan that probably changed to exploit the Eagles best defensive player - defensive tackle Jalen Carter - getting tossed before the game began because of a spitting incident. The Cowboys offensive line looked great and while Miles Sanders broke a long run, he was also caught from behind and fumbled deep in Eagles territory. Look for Jaydon Blue to get some touches as soon as the team trusts him. He was probably a scratch out of caution more than a statement about where the team is on the fifth round pick after early reports of a questionable work ethic. Williams is a what the heck flex against the Giants next week, but more importantly, he did good enough, especially in short yardage, to stake his claim to this job going forward. He's not the obvious sell high that some will make him out to be, and not many fantasy players are going to pay much more than Williams dirt cheap cost in drafts. |

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott completed 21 of his 34 pass attempts for 188 yards in a 24-20 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1. He added three rushing yards on his lone carry.
Footballguys view: Prescott played much better than his stat line indicates. He was let down by some drops, and both of the team's touchdowns came on the ground. If CeeDee Lamb was more consistent, this could have been a much better fantasy game for Prescott. He'll get the Giants next week, which could prove to be a tough matchup if we see their pass rush neutralize Jayden Daniels on Sunday. |
