Giants | Rushawn Baker catches on with NY Giants Mon Apr 28, 02:17 PM
Undrafted free-agent RB Rushawn Baker (Elon) agreed to terms on an undisclosed contract with the New York Giants on Sunday, April 27.
Link to storyThe first round of the draft unfolded ideally for the Colts, who had TE Tyler Warren fall into their lap at No. 14 overall. Warren excelled at Penn State, playing a variety of roles on the team's offense. On Sunday, Indianapolis head coach Shane Steichen called Warren "a guy who can do it all."
Footballguys view: The Colts envision Warren as someone they can move all over the formation. "If he's in-line, he can block," Steichen said. "Like I said, he can do it all. You can split him out wide. They threw him middle screens, you know? Just get the ball in his hands however you can." Steichen added that Warren's presence will have a "huge" impact on the quarterback -- no small matter with Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones battling for the starting job. In 2024 at Penn State, Warren caught 104 passes for 1,233 yards with eight touchdowns and rushed 26 times for 218 yards with four TDs. Warren has been going as TE7 in pre-NFL Draft best balls. That seems optimistic, but we'll watch to see if Steichen can dial up the usage to meet his expectations. |

New England Patriots second-round draft choice TreVeyon Henderson is a 'bit undersized' but someone the team views as a 'three-down back and a really good complement,' according to executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf.

Link to storyFree-agent WR Tyler Lockett (Seahawks) officially signed a one-year contract worth a reported $4 million with the Tennessee Titans on Monday, April 28. The deal is reportedly worth up to $6 million with incentives.
Footballguys view: Lockett joins the Titans after spending the past 10 seasons with the Seahawks, where he ranks second in team history in receptions (661), receiving yards (8,594), and receiving touchdowns (61). Lockett, who turns 33 in September, will be part of a revamped receiving corps with the Titans. Over the weekend, the Titans drafted receivers Chimere Dike (Florida) and Elic Ayomanor (Stanford) in the fourth round of the NFL Draft. Back in March, the team signed veteran receiver Van Jefferson in free agency. Those players will join returners Calvin Ridley, Treylon Burks, Mason Kinsey, Bryce Oliver, Jha'Quan Jackson, Colton Dowell, James Proche II, and Tay Martin. |

Link to storyPittsburgh Steelers RB Kaleb Johnson can 'seamlessly' step into the role previously held by current Los Angeles Chargers RB Najee Harris, in the opinion of ESPN's Brooke Pryor, who adds that Johnson's 'physical playing style' is a nice complement to smaller RBs Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell.
Footballguys view: At 6-1 and 224 pounds with a physical playing style, Johnson is a bigger back than Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell, and he gives the Steelers a well-rounded and balanced running back group. As noted in the Footballguys Rookie Draft Guide, Johnson has similarities to both Derrick Henry and Tyler Allgeier. He's a perfect fit for Arthur Smith's zone running scheme that will let him make reads to get downhill and pick up speed in the second level of the defense. It'll be interesting to see how Johnson's role develops over the coming weeks. |
Mississippi State WR Kelly Akharaiyi and Virginia Tech WR Stephen Gosnell signed undrafted free-agent contracts with the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, April 27.

Link to storyDenver Broncos RB RJ Harvey 'figures to be the first option in the run game,' in the opinion of ESPN's Jeff Legwold, assuming he displays the same kind of speed he showed at Central Florida. Legwold adds that Harvey should see work on early downs right away and could see an expanded role if he shows consistency as a receiver.
Footballguys view: The fifth running back off the board, Harvey handled 232 carries for 1,577 yards and 22 TDs in 2024 after posting 1,416 yards and 16 scores the year before. He joins Jaleel McLaughlin, Audric Estime, Tyler Badie, and Blake Watson at the running back position on the Broncos' roster. The Broncos view Harvey as a home-run hitter. As noted in the 2025 Footballguys Rookie Draft Guide 3.0, "Sean Payton offenses have typically featured a thunder-lightning approach. Think of Deuce McAllister and Mark Ingram II as the thunder. Alvin Kamara, Darren Sproles, and Reggie Bush the lightning. Harvey fits the archetype of the latter." Don't get carried away, though; his initial Footballguy projection is RB41. |
University of Albany WR Seven McGee received an invite to rookie mini-camp from the Atlanta Falcons on Saturday, April 26.

Link to storyBaltimore Ravens PK Justin Tucker is facing an 'uncertain' future with the Ravens following the selection of PK Tyler Loop in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. The team is unaware of the timetable for the investigation of Tucker, who has been accused of sexual misconduct, and has publicly stated they will wait for the investigation to conclude before making a decision. Per ESPN's Jamison Hensley, it's still unclear whether Loop will compete with Tucker for the job, or if the 'expectation' is for Loop to be Baltimore's kicker in 2025.
Footballguys view: Known for one of the strongest legs in this draft, Loop has converted six of nine attempts from 50-plus yards, including making a 62-yarder last season. At the NFL scouting combine, Loop hit 13 of 14 field goal attempts (93.3 percent) and finished by making a 60-yarder. Tucker, 35, is a seven-time Pro Bowl kicker, but he is coming off the worst season of his 13-year career. He missed 10 total kicks last season. Nobody should be drafting Tucker without resolution here. |

Link to storyPhiladelphia Eagles TE Dallas Goedert had been the center of trade speculation but wasn't dealt during the 2025 NFL Draft. General manager Howie Roseman was vague about the situation, according to the team press transcript. 'Dallas is part of the team as we speak,' Roseman said when asked if not drafting a tight end reflects upon Goedert's status. 'Obviously, as we go forward, we're going to continue to address things on this team and right now nothing further.'
Footballguys view: Goedert's future has been questioned due to his $11.7 million cap hit in 2025 and zero guaranteed money remaining on his contract. Now 30 years old, Goedert has played a full slate of games only once in his seven-year career -- and that was as a rookie. He managed a career-low 10 regular-season appearances last season due to injury, which led to a career-low two touchdown catches. Goedert's 496 receiving yards and 42 catches also marked lows outside his inaugural campaign in Philly. As NFL.com suggests, Roseman's non-answer on Goedert's future likely speaks volumes to some. There's still plenty of offseason left to figure out if it's simply the GM keeping things in-house or a sign of a split to come. |

Link to storyFollowing the draft, the Panthers added another pass-catching option, agreeing to terms with former Raiders receiver and Clemson star Hunter Renfrow Sunday night.
Footballguys view: The 29-year-old Renfrow was out of the league last year but has a track record of production out of the slot. He caught 103 passes for 1,038 yards and nine touchdowns for the Raiders in 2021, a breakout after a pair of solidly productive years (105 catches in 2019 and 2020 combined). In five seasons, he has 269 catches for 2,884 yards and 17 touchdowns. In Carolina, he joins a receiving corps with a pair of first-round picks in Xavier Legette and Tetairoa McMillan, veteran Adam Thielen, and second-year man Jalen Coker. |

Denver Broncos LB Dre Greenlaw (quad) appears to avoid avoided serious injury, according to KOA 850 AM & 94.1 FM's Benjamin Allbright on Sunday, April 27. Link to storyIrie Harris, from Cleveland.com, reports Cleveland Browns GM Andrew Berry says fifth-round QB Shedeur Sanders is going to have to come in and compete for his spot on the roster. "I think obviously Shedeur has kind of grown up in the spotlight, but our expectation is for him to come in here and work and compete. Nothing's been promised. Nothing will be given...we are excited to work with him." Berry said.
Footballguys view: Many felt Sanders would be a first- or second-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, but he fell to Day 3 and the Browns scooped him up in the fifth round. He joins fellow rookie, third-round pick Dillon Gabriel, and an already crammed room with Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett. Hard Knocks should head to Cleveland this summer, because with a polarizing player like Sanders, everyone is going to be watching how he performs in camp. |

Irie Harris, from Cleveland.com, reports Cleveland Browns GM Andrew Berry believes second-round pick RB Quinshon Judkins can be their featured back. "Really a bell cow, versatile runner who can run through you, run by you, run around you. We're really excited to have him available to us at the 36 pick." Berry said.
Footballguys view: Judkins runs with violence, and he has bad intentions for would-be tacklers on every carry. In addition to his powerful style, Judkins has more speed than some think and can rip off big plays as a runner or receiver out of the backfield. The Browns will have an....interesting...offense this year, but a bell cow back in the Shanahan system HC Kevin Stefanski runs can be at least an RB2 for Fantasy GMs out there. |
Irie Harris, from Cleveland.com, reports Cleveland Browns GM Andrew Berry likes the upside of RB Dylan Sampson. "I think he really compliments our room nicely. Runs a really tough and physical style despite being a little bit undersized. He's a player who has A+ makeup and a player that we think has untapped potential in the passing game." Berry said.
Footballguys view: Sampson is an intriguing prospect who could be more than a third-down back. For the time being, the rookie is likely to compete with veteran Jerome Ford for those duties in 2025. We should see rookie second-round pick Quinshon Judkins as the bell-cow back in Cleveland this season. |
Indianapolis Colts HC Shane Steichen believes rookie RB DJ Giddens (and his ability to catch out of the backfield) makes him a 'good get' for the team in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Footballguys view: Giddens was a nice sleeper in this deep class of running backs. He's a slashing runner with the ability to catch the ball cleanly out of the backfield. Entering his rookie year, Giddens is behind starting RB Jonathan Taylor and veterans Khalil Herbert and Tyler Goodson. We'll see how he looks in training camp and the preseason, but we are going to show him love in deep dynasty formats. |

Link to storyNick Kosmider, from The Athletic, reports Denver Broncos third-round WR Pat Bryant reminds HC Sean Payton of former New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas. "(Bryant) has just a lot of traits that Mike (Thomas) had," Payton said. "Especially at the line of scrimmage."
Footballguys view: Thomas was a second-round pick of Payton's Saints in 2016, and he ended up with four consecutive 1,000-yard seasons to begin his career. We're not projecting that for Byrant, but he's going to have an opportunity to win a spot opposite of WR Courtland Sutton. Bryant will compete with guys like Marvin Mims, Troy Franklin, and Devaughn Vele in camp for the no.2 job. |

Aric DiLalla, from DenverBroncos.com, reports Denver Broncos GM George Paton believes second-round RB RJ Harvey can improve as a receiver. "His ability to get in and out [of his breaks], his ability to catch [stood out]. You can see he has instincts in the pass game. Man, he had a lot of big plays in the pass game. You just don't see all the routes, and you can see those at the pro day. And we think he can keep going [upward]." Paton said.
Footballguys view: Broncos HC Sean Payton was looking for his 'joker' on offense - and elite receiver that plays running back or tight end. Harvey has great vision and balance as a runner, and his quickness is likely to make him a dangerous receiver out of the backfield. Harvey could become a fantasy darling in Payton's offense if he becomes the primary ball-carrier in 2025. He will compete with guys like Audric Estime and Jaleel McLaughlin to establish a pecking order in Denver's backfield. |
Eric Smith, from Chargers.com, reports Los Angeles Chargers HC Jim Harbaugh plans to deploy rookie first-round pick Omarion Hampton and free agent addition RB Najee Harris as a 1-2 punch. "I look at Najee and Omarion -- both starters. He brings that same type of mentality Najee brings. Like I said last week, we're looking for someone who complements but also offers the same." Harbaugh said.
Footballguys view: The Chargers are going to run the ball early and often, so the veteran and rookie will be splitting touches. Harris can be the early-down back, and Hampton can be the best option on passing downs. If Harris gets banged up, Hampton has the ability to take over the backfield and doesn't need to come off the field. He's got RB1 fantasy potential, but in this committee Hampton may be more like a flex play with upside. |
